This is a good fantasy, cyberpunk book (Shadowrun).

However, it doesn't feel like a modern 5th edition book. Instead it feels like Mel hasn't read anything new and was only told that the Wireless Matrix and Technomancers exist. They also probably told him about new guns, but those may have existed back in the day I am not sure.

Still a good read, but it feels strange after having read so many other 5th ed books. It kind of reminds me of reading a Warhammer 40K book after reading tons of Horus Heresy books (if you get that reference you are a nerd [haha])

I actually would have given this a 4 star if I had read it before the others. I loved Mel in the old days, and it felt like the old days again.

This book is certainly not a bad one but it's not very exciting or enticing other. Half of the book is spent in a submarine and it probably doesn't help that one of the principal characters is unconscious for just as long. Furthermore, the ending seems to be incomplete as if the text ran out of space. I want to like it more but unfortunately it's not quite there.

I liked it but would have liked to see a follow-up. The ending felt rushed compared to the first 2/3 of the book. I didn't have much knowledge of Shadow run but it didn't hinder the story.
4 stars for the dialogue 3.5 stars for the ending.

An action flick of a book. Lots of action, sometimes not a lot actually happened but other times a lot of the story is being advanced in the same amount of pages and action.

Reading it ended up being a drag. The story was not the primary concern of the author.

Quite the fun read. The book keeps you going for a while, but I think there could have a been a better twist in the end.

Twisting and turning right to the finish

The complexity of the story grows throughout. Mysteries linger are revealed and then answers shattered. The purity of the shadowrun universe is maintained by a master and includes enough "inside" references to tip the hat to long time fans as well as quick descriptions for the uninitiated. The many characters are interwoven and each holds a backstory that enriches our connection to them and builds our connection with the team itself. Globe trotting through many plexes with introductions to side players bring you into the sixth world and leaves a strong sense of the political, magical, and geographic landscape of the Shadowrun universe. I look forward to the next one. Thank you to the author.

While I think I preferred the short stories from Shadowrun Universe, this isn't a bad book. Maybe it is a bit... bland with the characterization not being as deep as I would hope, but the plot, pacing and setting are really nice.

I may have given it a lower note but I LOVED all those subtle nods to EarthDawn, Fourth World and Horrors. The ending though felt a bit rushed and cut off without a proper resolution - but maybe it is just setting the stage for something bigger? I sure hope so.

But I sure hope the last lines didn't mean that it ended in a romance because THAT would literally come from nowhere.

Enjoyable storyline in the Shadowrun universe.

Easy read with all you'd expect from a Shadowrun novel. Twists turns and lots of action. If you enjoy all things Shadowrun give it a try.

Lang hats gedauert... Lag aber eher an meiner generellen Lesemotivation, als an dem Buch. Flott geschrieben, mit viel Action und einer interessanten Story rund um typische Runner-Kameradschaft/Romantik.

Not one of the stronger Shadowrun novels.

Ist eben Shadowrun. Es hat mich unterhalten und ich mag wie sich nach und nach eine Runnergruppe bildet. Die meisten Charaktere bleiben aber etwas sehr farblos.
