Rachel laid the foundation for her lifestyle brand and media company with the same unfiltered honesty and staunch inclusivity that made her a two-time #1 New York Times bestselling author. Hollis connects with a highly engaged and growing global audience of women who treasure her transparency and optimism. She is one of the most sought-after motivational speakers, plays host to one of today’s top business podcasts and is a proud mama of four who uses her platform to empower and embolden women around the world. Rachel calls Texas home; more specifically the Hill Country just outside of Austin.
I started reading this but ended with with the audible version. It held a lot of the same values that I do but there was a lot of talk around babies I feel a lot was geared toward that young mom. I am still grateful for reading it and glad I went for the audible version!
Decently uplifting, but geared more towards Christian moms. If Christianity isn't your faith, it can be a bit off putting the constant "God-given" this, "Higher power" that. If you don't have children, there are 2-3 chapters that don't apply to you that you can just skip. I also found the book to be repetitive by midway through, with the same stories and anecdotes retold from earlier in the book. The good news is it's a very quick read, and there's at least one nugget of empowerment for anyone who reads it.
Rachel Hollis has been through a lot, and she's done stuff. She has some great advice in this book, but I felt like this message was a little young for me. I'm not trying to be the perfect mom or wife or CEO or whatever. At this point in my life, I'm pretty happy with who I am.
On another level, there were times I felt Rachel was trying SO HARD to connect with the people who weren't quite at her success level or income level or celebrity status. Just trying to connect with the little people, without calling them little people.
This is another recommendation from the friend who recommended Brene Brown’s book on imperfection. It is easily digestible and easily read — an inspiring tome that will inspire you to get off your butt and get stuff done, even when you are stuck in a bad place.
Loved this easy read. Although not all chapters apply it really give you a sense for understanding others and having compassion. Very inspiring and a kick my ass and get me going kind of way. Love it.
