I've really been enjoying the Sage Gardens series, and this one has been my favorite so far. It was so good I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. I enjoy all four of the main characters and will miss reding about them when I finish the series.

I will definitely be checking out other series by this author after I finish this series.

Greed Can Be Deadly is the twelfth book in Sage Gardens Cozy Mystery series but the first book in the series that I have read.
It can be read as a standalone and I had to trouble at all getting into the story.
Eddy, retired police officer is contacted by his former partner, Colin who needs his help but will not say why. His invites Eddy to a birthday party of yet another policeman where he promises to explain what seems to be the problem. But before he can do so Colin is murdered. Eddie has taken Colin's coat by mistake and in it he finds some money and a cryptic message.
Bewildered and sad, Eddie and Sam decide to investigate matters themselves, but get in so deep that they have to fight just to stay alive.
Very well written, fast paced and suspenseful thriller.
Characters are intelligent and realisticaly presented.
It grips you from the start and is impossible to put down.

I received ARC copy for an honest review.

I have read many of Cindy Bell's other series but this was my first in the Sage Garden Mysteries. I enjoyed the four main characters -- Eddy, Samantha, Jo and Walt. What wonderful friends. Each one had their talents and their specific quirks. Eddy is invited to a birthday party for the police chief by an old partner, Colin, who he had not spoken to for years. Colin said he had something he needed to tell Eddy but he never got the chance to do so before he was found murdered at the party. When Eddy discovers a bag of money and a note addressed to him in a trench coat he believed to be his, Eddy felt he needed to help find out what actually happened to Colin.
This book quickly grabs your attention and you will want to finish it as soon as you can to find the killer.
I received an advanced copy for an honest review. What an awesome book!

While this isn't the first of Cindy Bell's books I've reviewed, it is the first in the Sage Gardens series. I hate to admit it but I didn't want to read a book about retired age protagonists. Well, SHAME ON ME! Not only did I love the story but I adored the characters. I was surprised by the twists and turns as well as the satisfying climax. I found this book hard to put down and I know that I will be starting the series from Birthdays Can Be Deadly which is the first. Greed Can Be Deadly is a fantastic read and I'm looking forward to the next mystery when it is released!

Great read! I really enjoy the Sage Gardens series and this new addition is very good. There were some definite moments of real danger for the characters that had me worried for a few pages. The ending was satisfying. Good clean cozy mystery. I recommend the entire series.

A great cozy mystery!

A retired police detective and his three friends--one a retired cat burglar--band together to solve a police friend's murder.

Also read one of her Donut Truck mysteries.

Plenty of choices. Look forward to reading her other series.

What can I say? I have read the whole series and this book is just as good as the first. The books are standalone, however, I would suggest reading from the beginning. I love reading about older protagonists. I recommend the Sage Gardens Series.

Alas

While I continue to like the dynamic of a much different group of friends, this ended up being a letdown since it was all such a waste.

E-Reader. Coy Mystery

Eddy is a retired policeman (Detective).  And now lives in a retirement community.  He has a dear friend Samantha.

He received a telephone call from Colin, who was his partner before he retired. Colin wants him meet at an old bar they used go to many years ago.  Colin is now also Detective on the police force now.  Eddy felt like father figure to Colin 10 years ago so goes to meet him.

Eddy can tell there's something bothering Colin, but he can't get him to say what is.  But Colin asks him come to a very special birthday for the Cheif of Police Department & he can bring a guest with him.

He invites Samantha to the party & she looks it up & it's being held at a very expensive hotel.  So both of them need to get dressed up.

They go to the party & Colin asked Eddy to meet him out by the front door, but wait 10 minutes after Colin leaves, before Eddy goes out to meet with Colin.

Eddy went out but Colin wasn't out there.  As he waits people start to come out of the hotel that police are telling everyone & staff must leave.  Eddy finds out from a friend somebody was murdered.

Samantha sees Eddy as he's trying to get back in to hotel.  Eddy sees another policeman who he know well & allows both of them to go by him.

Samantha lies when they get close to the kitchen, saying she's a doctor.  Well Colin is laying on the floor dead. Another Detective tells them they must leave now.

There is so much more to this story you need to read it!

There many more characters in this book and plenty of danger too!

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!
