Seven Virtues Ranch #2

Where There is Hope

Rate this book
Sometimes opposites really do attract...

Veterinarian Hope Goodacre knows and understands animals much better than she does people, that’s all there is to it. She's sworn off men in particular since her husband left her three days before their second anniversary. She should have seen the signs - apparently everyone else did - but Hope... well, Hope hoped.

Single father Levi Valiente is incredibly skilled with a curved blade and a bone saw. He also sits a fine horse, and he knows how to treat the women in his life. Except for Yvette's mother. He must have done something wrong for Sofia to abandon him and their baby girl the way she did. It's been a long time since he stopped praying for her return, but he's tired of hiding his great big heart behind the shield of self-doubt he carries.

When Levi's spirited daughter asks Hope to accompany them to a barn dance at Whispering Hills Ranch, Hope isn't too keen on the idea. Not only is the strong and silent butcher far too handsome for his own good - for her own good - but he makes his living off dead animals while her job is to keep them alive.

Levi, however, is ready to find somebody to love, and he's convinced that where there's Hope Goodacre, there might just be happily ever after, too.

For fans of Liz Isaacson, RaeAnn Thayne, and Maisey Yates, this clean cowboy romance series will warm your heart. Hometown heroes. Heartfelt romance. Happily ever after.

Becky Doughty

Becky writes heartfelt and wholesome contemporary commercial fiction filled with friendship, romance, humor, a touch of mystery, a sprinkling of whimsy, plus a bushel of family drama. And usually a four-legged or winged companion, too. She’s also the voice behind an ever-expanding library of more than 200 audiobooks.

Becky and her Tomato Man met in the '80s (big hair, big hats, poofy sleeves, the works - see her About Page on BeckyDoughty.com). They live at the end of a lane on top of a hill in a hundred-year-old house. They share their lives with never enough pets, and they grow dueling riotous, rambling gardens. Most of the things in their gardens are edible… but some are most definitely not, due to Becky’s fascination with poisonous plants. They have three adult children living wild adventures of their own, but who also show up on demand with scrumptious grandbabies to nibble on.

Ms. Doughty continues to surprise me with her writing. I love her style. I love her way with words.

The two main characters were so lovable, and her descriptions of farm-life tickled me. It had the feeling that it came from someone who has been around it, and lived it. Fun family dynamics as well.

A minus for me were some of the modern secular terminology used. It made me a bit uncomfortable. Am I old fashioned? Perhaps.

There is an audience for this book for sure!

Loved this book. It makes you laugh out loud and makes you cry.
Hope has been in love with Levi for many years but she though he was in love with her older sister. Levi has been in love with Hope for years but has always waited to let her know how he felt because he didn't want to distract her from her vet studies. When she finally moved back home he was waiting for her to get set up in her practice but then she gets married. No one likes her husband but Hope always sees the good in everyone. She is devastated and embarrassed when he leaves her for another woman and serves her with divorce papers. Levi finally reaches out as a friend because he knows what it is like and has been there and knows she needs a friend right now. Then her soon to be ex husband decides he wants to come back. Will Hope let her cheating husband come back? Will Hope and Levi ever tell each other how they really feel about each other? What happens when Levi goes to Hope's house and her soon to be ex answers the door?

Another Fun Romance Full of Heart

I laughed so much at the children's antics in the second book of this series! On that alone, I'd recommend the book to anyone who needs a pick-me-up after a rough day. The hurt that the MCs have gone through, as well as the regrets, made them relatable and people I wanted to know better. While the story was clean and inspirational, it wasn't preachy and you could see these people living life and trying to do their best in spite of their faults and failures.

I absolutely love how the MCs were both adamant about going slow in their romance and doing things the morally correct way so that they started off right without the regrets of the past. I like how they learned from their mistakes and rather than giving up, changed tactics or just kept moving forward.

There were a few typos, but they didn't pull me out of the story. Other than that, it was well-written and well-crafted.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys clean, inspirational romance in which you can laugh and cry along with the characters.

Hope and Levi have been secretly attracted to each other for years. He didn’t want to hold her back from realizing her dreams of being a veterinarian and she thought he was in love with her sister Faith. When he finally decided it was time to tell her how he felt her slick boyfriend from college showed up and swept her off her feet. I knew there was something wrong with Chet when Hope’s sisters were happy he never came to their Sunday dinners, but I didn’t realize how self serving and awful he really was. There were a lot of funny moments and misunderstandings in the book while Levi kept running from his feelings for Hope afraid to get his heart broken and Hope believed that he didn’t want to be with her, but was pushed into asking her out by his daughter Yvette and Hope’s niece Jasmine. It was great to catch up with the rest of the Goodacre sisters and to learn a little more about what makes each of them special. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

I read the first book in the series and loved that so I was looking forward to this one which is the 2nd in the series. This story did not disappoint! Each of these sisters is very different yet you become invested in the character and can't wait to find out how things will be rectified. I loved Faith in the 1st book and while I liked Hope, the 2nd sister, there were a few times I wanted to smack her and say "wake up!" She's very sweet and naive and it takes a lot for her to finally figure things out. But don't we all know people like this? That's the good thing about Becky Doughty's books - the characters are all like "real" people and the situations they get in are things that could truly happen. I enjoyed reading about Hope figuring things out and Levi (the romantic interest for Hope) figuring things out too. I can't wait for the next book!

Hope never fails

I loved this book. Right from the start the characters were interesting and endearing. When talking about love, Levi said love is like air. "In all its different states, we still have to commit to breathing it in. And the moment we choose to stop breathing, we die. It's not the air that kills us, it's that we stop breathing. And the moment we choose to stop being committed to our marriages, that's when they die." Levi and Hope both survived failed marriages, and found each other. I love how Becky Doughty wrote their story, and how they finally had courage to trust each other in the end. A wonderful book full of Hope! I highly recommend this for everyone who loves a happy ending.

I am not sure I can aptly write a review of this book. It was so good. Now, I liked "Faith's" story, but this one... WOW! If each sisters' story gets better and better like this... Abby's is going to be out of this world! Becky, you have written such a heartfelt story in Hope and Levi. I laughed. I cried. I got angry. I fist-pumped. So many emotions in this book, this story.

Hope is broken, and yet so very brave and such a fighter. She holds her head high and marches on.
Levi is head-over-heels and so very romantic in his thoughts, words and actions.
Their story is precious, endearing, realistic, sweet.

I highly recommend "Where There is Hope"! Definitely worth the read!

Ms. Doughty is a master at her craft! Where There is Hope addresses issues associated with divorce so well and I speak from experience!

Hope Goodacre Willis is working through divorce procedures from an unpleasant spouse and trying to refrain from complicating things with Plumwood Hollow’s most eligible bachelor, Levi, to whom she has been attracted for years. However, as things begin to look bleak for our Hero, the author provides an unexpected twist to the plot.

This is a wonderful addition to the Seven Virtues Ranch Series. I laughed out loud several times and shed a tear or two. I am completely hooked on this inspirational romance series and recommend it highly.

True Romance In This Modern Western
This is a well written story. The plot, characters and setting are life-like and believable. I have read Book 1 of this series and this book dovetails nicely with it without being just the next episode. I would call this a sweet romance. It is filled with wonderfully romantic gestures and touching moments. Others may not as it does have some mild swearing, sexual innuendo and PDA. I would rate it PG, but you might not. I received this ARC book for free and this is my honest review.

Where there is Hope

Hope a young woman who was a veterinarian and also had six sisters who all lived at seven virtues ranch. Hope the vet lived in a small house beside her veterinarian practice in town but she also was in the process of getting a divorce from her cheating husband. Levi was the town butcher but he also had been in love with Hope since high school and had all intentions of marrying her when her divorce came through. This is my review and mine alone. Easily read as a stand alone, but even more enjoyable after reading Gotta Have Faith. This is the excellent second book about the 7 Goodacre sisters. (I hope that means there are at least 5 more!) These characters come alive on the pages of their stories. Happily ever afters are not guaranteed. Both Hope and Levi have been previously married. This is a wonderful story about trusting in God's plan. There are a few surprises in story. I am looking forward to book three!

I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this book about Hope and Levi. They both had spouses who left them so they were a perfect match. Reba Doughty does an excellent job of setting up the story and pulling the reader in so it is hard to put her books down once you start reading. I like that each book is a standalone with no cliffhanger. I highly recommend this book as well as the other books in this series.

My-oh-my!

This story is definitely a romance...the kind that makes you sigh and get a bit misty eyed. Still, the Goodacres will make you laugh and enjoy every minute you spend with them while reading this wonderful book. I got so caught up in the lives of the characters that I forgot, in my haste to read the next book, all about leaving a review for this and the first book in the series. You will love the Goodacre family!

I had high hopes for this book after reading #1 in the Seven Virtues Ranch series and "Where There is Hope" did not disappoint. The relationship between the main characters Levi and Hope was well-developed so the reader could feel that they knew and understood them as they grew their love. I can't wait to read the stories of the other sisters! Highly recommend!

THERE is Hope!

Exciting, read dreams are made of! Becky reveals in this book how impulsive decisions have painful consequences.
While we know in real life that happy endings are not guaranteed, if we could only be cautious with life choices!
Love how Levi and Hope finally gave the truth - hoping!
Thanks, Becky, for another awesome read!

Another great book in this series! I had the hardest time putting it down. Levi is the perfect hero, so gallant, loving, caring, etc. What a good man. Hope is also a wonderful trusting person who deserves so much more than she settled for. I loved their relationship and how they grew together and their love and friendship. It was a wonderful book. I can't wait for the rest of the series.

After being introduced to Hope in the Seven Virtues Ranch book 1, I really enjoyed being able to read her story. Hope was one of the more quiet sisters in book 1, so it was nice to be able to read her story. I appreciated the resolve that she has to be able to overcome her challenges in life and be able to have the best of what she can dream for.

Services for the veterinarian usually came without payment, but in items. Just as well since she was getting rid of one husband, an ex of just a year.
Meeting Levi, who had hopes of his wife returning. Hope in common for both, but their jobs was the barrier, she saved them, he didn’t, Can opposites attract and find a neutral ground. Good author, and another good story, to enjoy.

This book was very clean. It had a great pace, and incredibly likable characters. I enjoyed the storyline and the writing was wonderful. I'd recommend this story to anyone who likes a good romance.

Review of "Where There is Hope"

As with your first in the series about Hope's sister Faith this story grabs you from the beginning all the way to the end. I can't wait to continue with the series. Excellent writing. Love the stories.

I liked the characters and the story line, but it seemed not much progress was made in the story. I guess because there are other books in this series, the author has chosen not to move much farther ahead in each book.
