Eli Ramsay is the last unmated adult male of the Lionsgate pack, but that doesn't mean he's looking for anything more complicated than some after hours fun in the sun when Lionsgate is called back to “A Bene Placito” on a job. Body guarding the new manager of a hotel built for pleasure on a private island for shifters might sound sexy, but all it takes is one meeting with the oh so buttoned up and completely human Margaret Whitney Baxter to know that she's as cold as she is beautiful. But then first impressions can be misleading. The last book in the Keeping Her Series is also a return to the world of "At One's Pleasure," so expect things to get HOT.
Kelly Lucille is the author of paranormal and fantasy romance. She has a B.A. Degree in Creative Writing and Literature from Naropa University. Her first book "Keeping Her" published in July of 2013.
On a more personal note- I read my first romance novel: "Shanna" by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss when I was 13 years old. I still read it every year or so just to remember how amazing a really good romance novel can make you feel.

This was a very enjoyable story. I've read the previous books in the series but it's been a while. Regardless, I was able to keep up with what was going on and liked seeing how Eli found his mate in Margaret.
Margaret is the office manager for an island paradise called A Bene Placito. Margaret was married there and when her marriage fell apart, she needed somewhere to go since her parents like her husband better than her. Margaret is currently trying to get a divorce but believes her husband will cause trouble or send some after her so Becca (one of the owners) called Lion's Gate for a security upgrade.
Eli is a were-panther and a member of the Lion's Gate pack/security company. Eli is a genius on a computer and a skilled fighter but tends to be laid back and likes to poke his friends (usually figuratively) to get rises out of them.
Eli is one of the members of Lion's Gate that is sent to the island and is put in charge of Margaret's safety. Margaret grew up in an upscale surroundings with parents that looked down on any step out of the allowed boundaries. Because of this, Margaret is very controlled and seems cold and unreachable at first. Eli is intrigued by her but is put off by her cold demeanor. Things take place that crack Margaret's shell though and soon Eli realizes that there's a lot more between them than just a strong attraction. Eli goes easy at first but once things cross the line, Eli pushes for it all. Margaret seems unsure at first but surprised me by turning it around and accepting things very quickly. There is some trouble with Margaret's Ex but it's handled and Margaret and Eli end things together and heading towards a HEA.
This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Margaret and thought she was a pretty good heroine. I didn't remember Eli much from previous books but he turned out to be a pretty good hero, especially once he realized that Margaret is his mate. His more relaxed attitude (when nothing important was taking place) was good for Margaret and helped her to let go of the uptight attitude her parents ground into her. Overall, I liked the story and characters very much and would recommend this story. :)
In Shielding Her karma finally catches up to Eli and he gets his mate…and she’s an ice princess…bwahahaha. Considering how much he tortured his pack mates by flirting with their women, I don’t think karma dealt him quite enough justice but since I liked Maggie I’ll let it go.
Maggie was a surprise. She was the bride that brought Rebecca to the island for her fateful meeting with her alpha hunks in At One’s Pleasure. That wedding worked out for Rebecca in so many wonderful ways but poor Maggie ended up married to a monster. She’s now hiding on the island and working in Miley’s old job while she tries to get her divorce sorted.
Griffin, one of Rebecca’s mates, brought in the Lionsgate Pack to not only beef up security before the birth of their child but also to protect Maggie from her soon to be whackjob ex-husband. And then they assigned Eli the job of being her personal bodyguard since everyone else was newly mated. Once he figured out she was his mate you can bet he guarded her very, very well. Wink-Wink-Nudge-Nudge.
I loved the packs getting back together on the island. There was lots of happy stuff going on as both packs are expanding in the best of ways. We also get a taste of what happens when alpha males experience a mate in labor.
The one thing I missed was action. I got used to there being a certain body count in this series with some of my favorite shifters demonstrating how easy it is to pull bad guys apart limb by limb. But I didn’t get that (I’ve got my pouty face on right now), and for as truly horrid as Maggie’s ex-husband turned out to be, I don’t think he suffered enough. As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’m a bloodthirsty bitch when it comes to whackjob asshats so this is more than likely a “me” thing, and probably won’t be an issue for most others.
Shielding Her was funny, sexy, and sweet, and did have one part that was a bit scary but not in the way you are thinking. With Eli being the last of the Lionsgate Pack’s adult to get mated, I’m hoping we’ll see a certain council enforcer next, especially since I think there are some council threads left dangling. I also wouldn’t be adverse to a story about a bear or two…or three.
Shielding Her (Keeping Her Series book 7) by Kelly Lucille
Absolutely thrilled with this whole series ,not one book will disappoint you!!!!💟 I was so happy Eli got his perfectly challenging human mate for him to work out how to get from a job to a whole new set of complications to deal with...smexy times ahead lol. I do hope this isn't the end of this series cuz they're plenty of updates n New additions of characters besides children. Ms. Lucille plz don't end it here!!!💟 I absolutely loved this whole series and everything about her writing style,so please don't hesitate to get any and all of them!I
1.) That was such an anti-climatic ending to a seven book series- it hurt. 2.) I’m extremely disappointed that neither Ian or Liam will get a book. 3.) Its a pet peeve of mine when authors don’t pay attention to time lines. This book stated Maggie had been married for 3 years. However, that is only possible if there was a 2 year gap between book 3 & 4. Which makes no sense as they were talking about Lucas’ upcoming visit at the end of book 3. Soo.... look I don’t get my panties in a wad about grammatical errors, especially with self published or independent authors. The timelines that’s my thing!
I love Maggie and Eli’s story! Margaret is quite a woman! We see her first as a cold, contained woman. No emotion showing. As she begins to trust those around her, some of those walls come down. Her recent experiences have been horrible, but she doesn’t give in or give up. Once she and Eli make a connection, she truly begins to blossom. Their love story is sweet - umm - maybe feisty is a better word! With a vengeful soon-to-be ex-husband out to take her down, there is a ton of excitement! A well-told story.
Dear Kelly, so wish you would write this Series Faster
I really enjoy how you write. It's about all the good masculinity is. Every one of these books give me a very nice insight of each character, enough to care what happens to them. I know there are authors that tend to put filler paragraphs in to make their stories longer. You have descriptions, but don't go overboard. Nice progression but not boring.
Maggie is hiding from her husband who is abusive and controlling. She's also hiding from her parents who side with him against her.
Luckily, she has a good friend like Becca to support her.
Interesting plot device to decide that all the other adult males were too newly mated to spend time protecting her. Not sure it completely worked since much of the time he was monitoring her remotely.
I love this series and this is a great addition. But I couldn't give it 5 stars like I wanted too, because of all the left out words and wrong words. A few times I even had to read a sentence twice to make sure I read what I thought I read. So it's not edited as well as the others, but I will be reading it again and anymore to come.
I like this series but I find it a bit annoying when the author doesn’t use contractions, particularly since Eli and his pack are pretty laid back. I understand she was probably just trying to show how uptight the heroine was using that kind of dialogue, but the rest of the characters didn’t need to use it as well. Regardless, I enjoy the series and just wish she would write them a bit quicker.
Started rereading this series and hit on one I had not read. Think this is my new favorite. Eli is a great character but it is great to see him stumbling along because he takes Maggie at face value. The relationship is fascinating as both characters have to realize not everything is as they first see it.
I love. This Arthur's books it was a pleasure to remain with old characters.I hope Lucille does at least one more book with this series to write about Damon's baby. Anyway I know you will love this book.
This one was almost a caricature of the genre. The characters seemed a bit too forced, and the flow of the story kept getting interrupted by the very poor editing.
Love this series. Love, love Eli. Swoon!!!! I always wish that shapeshiffters. Really did exist. Love these stories. Can't get enough of them. Please don't stop.
While the other members of Lionsgate wear their military past openly and easily, Eli has been more of the playful quiet male. It was good to see him matched up with Maggie and have a chance for his serious and deadly side to show. This has been a great series. I hope to see a spin off which will hopefully include Stryker Vaughn's story.
Eli's story was well worth the waite. The unexpected delight was how it brought all the characters from all the previous books into the picture. I was sorry not to catch up on the doings of mac, Ben and cassandra, but oh well maybe they'll in a future novella!
