I read this within a day. It's not short or overly technical. Rather, it's a perfect explanation of barefoot hoof care with just enough details of hoof structure and function to give me a much better understanding of what's going on in my horse's hooves in his transition from three years in shoes to barefoot. While my horses before this were all barefoot all the time, this experience has taught me a great deal.

The tone of the book is conversational with clear and concise explanations. The information in this book has helped give me more confidence to trim my own horse's hooves and consider what else he might need to be more comfortable.

Pete Ramey's website is loaded with additional information that led me to purchasing his book, and I'm glad I did.

Before you go tearing your horses shoes off, I would definitely read this book three or four times. Although he says every horse ever can go barefoot, if you can't keep them on a tough, rocky pasture or trim them constantly, it's not a good idea.

Thanks to this book, I'm successfully barefooting six horses on our ranch. However, we also discovered that for three others, barefooting is NOT going to work (considering the type of pasture we have available). Live and learn, but read this book many times before you try it.

This book is a must-have reference for all horse owners! Even if you shoe your horses, the hoof anatomy and biomechanics information contained in this book sheds light on a subject that many horse owners leave to their farriers. Thanks to Pete Ramey and Jaime Jackson, I am now able to be more proactive about my horses' hoof health.

A great book for anyone wishing to know more about natural hoof care. Simply put for those of us who don't know much on the subject, but packed with enough great info so that even those of us who know this subject well can still learn new things.

The success Pete Ramey and many others have had with barefoot trimming is undeniable. This book gave me a greater understanding of the structure and function of the hoof, and its perfect design in being an amazing shock-absorption system for the horse.
