The Proposal
To provide for her younger sister, Francesca works for a wealthy woman as a live-in secretary and housekeeper. However, the job title doesn't begin to cover what the job actually entails, and the lady of the house is a callous woman who exploits Francesca's desperation. One day world-renowned heart specialist Professor Renier Pitt-Colwyn comes to the manor. Although Francesca and the professor are already acquainted, he pretends not to know her. It would seem the upper class are too good to speak to lowly servants such as herself!

Another Betty Neels adaptation this manga revolves around a "world-renowned heart specialist” (because of course the hero is a doctor. And, surprise, he is Dutch!). Our heroine, Francesca, works as a secretary for a crotchety old lady.
The art was a little odd, the manga artist seems to be fond of drawing women with these long, sharp, odd noses. I looked at her other covers and the women look like a cross between Pinocchio and Sailor Moon.
The pencil work looked unfinished to me; I think the artist was going for that blurry style where you can see multiple lines along the edges. While it gives the art a softer look I don't prefer this as it looks a little messy to me.
However, the plot and the characters were strong which saved the manga. This is due to Ms. Neel I think and not the adaptation. For example, the heroine was feisty and there was a lot of interaction between the leads. They spend time talking to each other; I could have done with more interaction between the leads but it was generally good.
The book was a little unfocused and I didn't really like the art style but in the end the leads as characters made me give it 2 stars in the end.
