FROM BOOKSTORE CLERK TO BADASS Someone is killing off Seth Brown's half-brothers and he's not going to put up with it. Even when he forgets to load his gun, he has something going for he is the Messiah. One of them, anyway. Seth has all the talents you'd expect in a Son of he can turn water into a cup of coffee to die for and resurrect his accident-prone cat. Assassins eager to launch the end of the world as we know it? Shouldn't be a problem. With allies that include a journalist with an afterlife addiction, a valkyrie moonlighting as a homicide detective, and Lucifer himself, what could possibly go wrong?
High-action urban fantasy with, well let's call it superpowers. Lots of twists in the plot. I especially appreciated the humour--the coat collar, the various book titles (such as The Book of Nathan's Ear) and the quirky Ducky Mart convenience stores. Looking forward to book two!
Quibble: while I liked the fox POV, some bits were confusing because of his lack of vocabulary.
This story fits perfectly with my sense of humour. Delightfully irreverent story, hilarious (if you're like me), especially if you're not easily offended when it comes to religion, nasty evil villains and good guys who are basically heavenly... Build-it-yourself furniture, visits to the Other Side, a mysterious fox, and an unusually caring corner store called Ducky Mart. Hang on tight. I can't wait for Book Two!
