Can a sex toy CEO and a bleeding heart ever find love, or will their connection destroy everything they’ve worked for?
This was a disappointing read. It just was not for me. The storyline did not interest me at all. I thought there should have been more to the characters. I thought that they were not relatable to me. I wished there was more of a background on their characters. Also, I thought that the romance between the main characters was not as interesting as other books that I have read. The ending was the highlight for me because I managed to finish it. Overall, a meh read.
Tanya Gallagher does it again!! *slow claps* HIS DISTRACTION is book one in the new “X Enterprises”’series, which centres around a sex toy company. I had the pleasure of reading Tanya’s first book A SLIPPERY SLOPE, so I already knew to expect BIG things from this one - and I wasn’t disappointed. This book has everything you would look for - brilliant storyline, kickass heroine, insane chemistry and lots of naughtiness along the way. I read A LOT of weird shit, so I’m no prude, but Gallagher manages to write sex scenes that leave me blushing...Jeremy is one dirty-talking businessman, and as much I wanted to punch him in the face a time or two, I fell for him just as fast as Vanessa did! The rest of this series will follow various employees of Jeremy’s company, and I just know that they are going to be every bit as good as the first book. If you haven’t read a book by this author yet, you seriously are missing out.
His Distraction follows the story of Jeremy Glass, CEO of major sex toy company X Enterprises and Vanessa Reese, a recent college graduate just starting out in the workforce. Interested in social work, Vanessa is caught off guard when she learns that the temp agency she is working with has temporarily placed her at X Enterprises. Jeremy and Vanessa soon make a deal that in exchange for her working at X Enterprises for 10 weeks, Jeremy will help her land her dream job,
I really love Tanya Gallagher's writing. Similar in style to her previous book, A Slippery Slope (check out the review HERE), the author does a really great job of maintaining a realistic dialogue and banter between the characters. One of the primary reasons I don't read too many romance novels is the fact that they always seem a little farfetched for me. Although the story line itself was a little atypical (it's not every day that you read a romance novel set at a sex toy company) the hilarious banter between the characters really drew me in. I genuinely couldn't put the book down!
I especially loved the banter between the two main characters and Jeremy Glasses' character was absolutely perfect. Overall, I would give this book 4.5 stars. The only (very minor) problem I had with this book was the ending. Not that it was bad, just not what I was expecting. Definitely one to check out!
I really enjoyed reading this interesting take on an office romance! I love how Tanya incorporates such a taboo subject in a very casual and relatable way.
The two main characters couldn’t be more different. Where Vanessa is kind-hearted, and puts everyone’s needs before her own, yet she is confident enough to put someone in their place when needed! Jeremey is the true definition of a corporate a**hole, and I loved every second of it! Nevertheless, he proved his worth with how much he ended up loving Vanessa.
As always, the writing was phenomenal and enjoyable to read. Tanya has a real talent for writing about unusual settings and turning them into a heartwarming and enjoyable read! I can’t wait for the other books in this series!
Jeremy and Vanessa. What can I say about them? The first time they met he knew he was in trouble. Jeremy knew Vanessa was going to be his biggest distraction. So he pushed her away by firing her.
Vanessa felt the instant attraction right away too. She didn't want to work at a sex toy shop but she did until she got the job she really wanted. Her dream job is being a social worker and helping others. When he asks her to come back he promised he will get her the job they wanted.
Nothing goes as planned. Once they start spending time together. You see the chemistry fly. Jeremy was there when she needed him the most and vice versa.
This was such a great read and I honestly couldn't put it down. I just loved the back and forth between Vanessa and Jeremy.
If that didn't catch your attention, then I don't know what will. HIS DISTRACTION is full of the above and more. I read this baby in one sitting-- I just couldn't get enough of this office romance. The way they challenged each other as co-workers, helped those in need as friends, and then Jeremy popping boners all over Seattle as...more than friends.
This isn't your typical office romance-- this guy is THE CEO OF A SEX TOY COMPANY. Yes, you heard right! Sex toys! His Distraction is funny, informative, and addictive-- pick this baby up now!
Great read, I had to laugh at this business man and his company ...but i guess that is a reasonable this day and age with all the folks who want supplies and such ...but talk about girlie giggles. how could or would you not laugh??! I know grow up but still .. can not imagine????? ... fun time. quick read and great style!! i enjoy a lady who is power and strong, no weak ...she make snarky comments, always being silly or maybe sarcastic is a better word there? i will look more into Tanya soon enough. check her out!! must read. ( ;
This story took me on an adventure from the beginning. It is so much more than I ever expected. Jeremy was ok with his life and didn't want any distractions. When his right hand man is getting ready to become a father, Jeremy has no other choice but to accept that he's going to hire someone to temporarily file the role. What Jeremy doesn't expect is that someone to be a very attractive woman. Vanessa can't believe that she's going to work at a sex toy company. She thinks about backing out but soon realizes that she needs the job. When she first saw Jeremy, she noticed how attractive he is. Vanessa knows she can't think that way about her boss, and when she's fired over a little mistake, she knows being involved with Jeremy would be a huge mistake. Soon, Jeremy realizes he needs Vanessa's help, and a cat and mouse game begins. Will Jeremy win over Vanessa, or will they both win something they never imagined?
I was so interested in it at the start but half way through I felt it lost its focus.
Vanessa isn't someone I'm in love with. Shes a saleswoman, so I think actually she is the arogant one out of her and Jeremy, well no hes arrogant too but they're arrogance together makes it worse.
I like Jeremy, hes not going to be a book boyfriend but he isn't too bad. Hes commuted, focused and driven. Qualities that are to be admired. Hes different to Vanessa as shes more selfless and caring while he hides that.
The sex was OK. Considering this was a book of a company that sold sex toys the only slightly erotic thing was the vibrator during dinner which was also weird because it was dinner with her parents... Sort of creepy in my opinion.
This book had a decent plot line but barely kept it afloat. It was childishly written and there was really no plot development. I never really connected to the main characters, especially since their romance was so quick (he fired her after seeing her once because she was a “distraction”, i mean, come on) and wished our leading lady would have had more of a backbone. Also the “drama” parts barely contained any drama. This author could have done so much with this book to have made it solid. The bedroom scenes left much to be desired, as they were lackluster at best. I was able to finish it but was rolling my eyes and hoping something exciting would happen but plop.
He owns a top company that specializes in making sex toys and she is a woman searching for her dream job in social worker. She gets sent to his company as a temp. Fireworks explode when she finally meets to owner of the company. While he tries to not be distracted by her, he can't help but want more. Twists and turns in this book keep you glued to the end!
I loved the premise of the story, it was one that I found very unique. I also loved the characters and that this wasn’t your typical romance, the attraction was instant but the romance slowly developed so the main characters didn’t rush and say how much they loved each other after a day of knowing each other. Easy fun read with some very steamy scenes. Highly recommend!
Okay, this was the most fun book I’ve read in a long time. Who knew you could make the sex toy industry less seedy. Anyways. Hot. Hot. Hot. I honestly could have done with more background and character development to really solidify their connection and histories. It’s a great start to a new series. I’ll definitely buy the others.
Tanya's Gallagher has given us a terrific story about two people, Vanessa and Jeremy, their journey together and also the way they relate to others. It touches on dysfunction within families, perceptions and , what I liked best, that men CAN love cats.
Sounds cryptic? Well read this to discover what I mean. I thought it was quite a good read.
His Distraction is an interesting take on the hot boss-sexy employee trope. It has all the wonderful elements of forbidden love thrust into a sex toy environment. I love that Tanya Gallagher can take something so taboo in everyday culture and bring it to you in such a relatable way. Everyone should read this book if only to eliminate some of the stigma that revolves around usage of sex toys on your own or in your relationship! I also learned a little about how dildos are made… who knew (insert shrug here).
Vanessa is a bleeding heart social worker and I can relate to that as a social worker myself. Nothing makes forbidden love sweeter than a social worker falling for a corporate asshole. She was a confident, hard-working, sex bomb of a lady with a penchant for putting others needs above her own. What more do you need out of a heroine? Plus she's oh so good about putting Jeremy in his place. She's not the type of woman who's going to bow down to a man simply because he's hot and rich (but man, Jeremy really is hot and rich).
Jeremy was an aggravating son of a bitch who slowly gained my appreciation once he stopped being such a tool. But that’s the attraction of a cocky boss, no? Vanessa’s influence on Jeremy is a slow but steady approach, but I loved that he was willing to put aside his instinct to control everything in order to be the best man for Vanessa. Nothing is sexier than a powerful man coming to his knees for his woman.
I think Tanya Gallagher has a real talent for creating dynamic characters who push each other to be better people. His Distraction is a really fun read for those who fancy contemporary reads with a sexy twist. Forewarning there’s sex and tons of it between these pages and with a sex toy creator as a main character the sex can get…creative. Be ready to expand your knowledge of play in the bedroom… and restaurants.
**This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. I do not post reviews of books on my blog unless I truly enjoy them, regardless of how they were acquired. My own personal policy.
His Distraction is a beautiful story about love and friendship in a unique setting! I love how Tanya incorporates such a taboo subject in a very casual and relatable way. Just as the previous book that I have read of hers, her newest book embraces the sex toy industry and removes any disgrace regarding the usage of them. The story itself is an office romance between the CEO of the most prestigious sex toy company and the temp that was hired. The two couldn’t be more different. Where Vanessa is a kind-hearted soul, who is ready to put everyone’s need before her own, but confident enough to put someone in their place when needed! Tanya does not disappoint with our cocky hero! He is the true definition of a corporate asshole, and I loved every second of it! The hot cocky boss really won me over with time despite how big of a jerk he was initially! Nevertheless, he proved his worth with how smitten and head over heels he became for Vanessa. He truly warmed my heart. As always, the writing was phenomenal and enjoying to read. She has a real talent for incorporating unusual settings and turning it into a heartwarming and enjoyable read!
4/5 Stars

A book that will leave you blushing, but in the best way possible!- Brittany and Elizabeth's Book Boutique
"I would do anything for you"
His Distraction is book one in X Enterprises series- a brand new series by Tanya Gallagher. I really enjoyed reading this take on an office romance and it definitely left me blushing MANY times!
Jeremy and Vanessa have an instant connection, one that cannot be ignored. As dirty (but in a totally good way!) as he was, there were many times I found myself swooning head over heels because he wants to do good. He is a man that holds many admirable traits and one that is definitely desired.
Vanessa is also a female character that is a hard worker, that doesn't take no for an answer and one that just can't ignore the desires of her heart. She is a strong lead, and made me want to do more with my life!
Tanya has definitely hit a homerun with this and I really enjoy her style of writing. The characters are quirky and the scenes are definitely HOT HOT HOT! but she is definitely an author you should watch out for and add this series to your TBR. If you want to read about the rest of the characters, check out her releases coming soon!
His Distraction is one of my favorite romance tropes, the cat and mouse game. Jeremy Glass is the CEO of successful Seattle’s hottest sex toy company; he's rich, single and happy with the way his life is going...until Vanessa shows up. The woman he fired who he didn't realize (for some super strange reason?) handles their money accounts. Yikes.
Vanessa clearly wants nothing to do with the man, but he offers something she can't refuse. These two end up tangled up in a dance together whether they want to or not. Vanessa also has no idea the lifestyle Jeremy leaves, sure he may be the CEO of a sex toy company but not everything as it seems. She surely didn't think she would find him to be kind and caring, especially under all that sex toy CEO, bossy exterior. They both start to realize they are falling for each other and unplanned love brings its own set of problems.
His Distraction is a good contemporary romance book with just enough dirty to spice it up for readers who want something more than a vanilla type of story. Definitely worth a read if you like two unlikely people falling for one another.
I. Loved. This. Book. It was everything a romance novel should be. Sexy. Smart. It kept me turning the pages. It made me laugh. I choked up. Sure, the CEO goes after the sexy employee thing isn’t new, but this book far exceeds most romance novels I’ve read. The writing was fabulous. The characters were beautifully flawed and totally relatable in their own ways. The chemistry between Jeremy and Vanessa sizzled. I mean, holy mother of … the sex scenes. Phew! Someone open a window in here!
But it’s also about so much more than the sex. It’s two people who fit together in so many ways, but are their own worst enemies in allowing it to just happen. Which made it all the more interesting, of course, and there was just the right amount of push and pull. Basically the exact balance of tension required to keep you hurtling through a story, needing to know what happens.
Seriously, this was fantastic on every level. There’s even cute kids. And a kitten. And cake. What’s not to love? What are you waiting for?! PS, if you’re a series fan, it looks like the next books are just as hot and likely can be read as standalones. Jackpot!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I’m the first to admit that the romance genre isn’t typically my thing, but if every romance was written like this one, I could get into the habit of reading them more! Handsome, chiseled Jeremy Glass is the owner of X Enterprises, a company that makes and sells sex toys, and is all business. When Vanessa walks into his office to do what she thinks is going to be just a temp job, Jeremy is smitten, and worries that she may become the distraction in his life to takes his eyes off the prize: selling his company to the infamous Yessir Unlimited. With her good looks, resourcefulness and smart business sense, could Vanessa’s presence in the company distract Jeremy from his ultimate goal? What could it possibly mean for the future of the company, and Jeremy’s own personal future? Filled with steamy sexual tension, and one of the hottest will they/won’t they plots of any book, His Distraction is a satisfying read that will leave you wanting more.
I was given this book by Tanya Gallagher to read and review this book.
“His Distraction” (book one) comes out July 6th and you won’t want to miss reading this steamy rom com!
Oh my gosh! I LOVED the interaction between Jeremy and Vanessa. Their banter is one of the best parts of this book. When they shares a sweet moment I couldn’t help but smile. When Jeremy said “ I’ll give you every piece of me you want.” I wanted to shout VANESSA TAKE EVERY PIECE OF HIM but I’m vacation reading in my grandparents living room and this book might be a little awkward to explain to them. 😂😉
Jeremy was so many things to the outside world: the rock, sexy playboy, the charming arrogant business owner. But for the people he cares about? He was a protector.
A sex toy CEO needs to focus on the business contract of a lifetime, but will the woman who can help him seal the deal become his biggest distraction?
I was honestly so excited to get this book although it took me a few weeks to start. As soon as I started I couldn’t put it down though. Vanessa’s compassion towards helping others is something to look up too and Jermey’s never quit always go after what you want attitude is something we could all have more of. Separate the two are missing one major aspect in life that makes it all worth living. Love. Together they turn into exactly what they are missing and have needed all along. With bumps, misunderstandings, and miscommunication throughout the story which is enough to keep you turning the pages. The best friends of the two and supporting characters that you also fall in love with what else could you ask for. Definitely definitely recommend. Steamy scenes and lots of laughter. Was laughing out loud quite a bit.
If you like fiction, with a bit of romance and a pinch of erotica, then you should read His Distraction by Tanya Gallagher. Its like Fifty Shades of Grey without the whips and blindfolds. You will enjoy the characters as well as the story line. Rich handsome guy meets beautiful innocent girl, the perfect setup for a sexy story line. I had the pleasure of reading Tanya’s first book A Slippery slope (you can read my review on the blog) and was really looking forward to reading her next book. A Slippery Slope is about a young women who starts her own company making personal lubricant, and this is actually true of Tanya’s own life! She owns Penchant, and you can purchase a bottle on Amazon! His Distraction is first in a series, the next one is titled His Inspiration.
