With Black Harbor in limbo, Preston is at the forefront of its evolution.
However, with his family's ties to Argos, there's one responsibility that continues to test his character and the oath he made, so long ago.
Protect Lorna.
He would do anything for her, but she has no idea the true feelings he has kept to himself about her over the years.
When a little crush held for an arrogant Onyx Skull member reveals to Lorna that not all Scalers hold good intentions towards her, she can begin to see how significant her relationship with Preston really is.
Their lives, lies, and loyalties intertwine as the young Scalers discover what true love means for them and for the future of Black Harbor.
Blazing Ashes is a stand-alone book in the Black Harbour Dragons series. A guaranteed HEA, no cheating and steamy scenes intended for a mature audience.
The order of these books is messed up. This one also takes place before the first one, but after the previous one. So at least that part worked. And so far, it's my favorite. Not that it was amazing or that I will ever read it again, but it was definitely the most entertaining.
I really liked getting Preston when he was younger and seeing how determined he was to make Black Harbor a better place. I liked his relationships with the other dragons and it was interesting to learn how he actually created the Black Harbor we get in the first book. Lorna annoyed me more times than not because I really hated how she always had to act like a selfish brat in order to show others that she can do whatever she wants.
At the end of the last book we got the young Preston vowing to protect the newborn Lorna. Now around 20 years later, that's exactly what he's been doing. But it's not easy. Wherever Lorna goes she seems to cause nothing but trouble. Preston loves her but she's currently infatuated with another dragon. And it's that dragon that most of this story revolves around with our main couple. When he finds out exactly who Lorna is, he's got it in his head that the two of them belong together and he'll do whatever it takes to get her. This is after treating her like a disposable groupie, mind you.
So we get a lot of Lorna fighting with Preston because she wants to take care of this problem by herself but he just wants to protect her. Other than that we get a bunch of people telling Lorna to open her damn eyes and see what she already has. Which, fortunately, doesn't take her too long. The relationship between Preston and Lorna seemed like a natural thing and I especially loved Argos at the end in regards to it.
One thing I didn't get was how all the dragons kept thinking that Lorna was human and calling her Pet. How many times does she need to flash her golden claws for them to realize she not!?
4.25 stars This is the fourth book in the series and it can be read as a standalone although I recommend reading the previous books to learn where the characters came from. This is the next generation coming in to take the lead and transform Black Harbour. Preston is a Sapphire Dragon whose father is the de facto leader of the different factions residing in the area. Lorna is a Golden Imperial and the daughter of Argos, the ruler of Empyrean. When the two were growing up, Preston vowed that he would always protect Lorna. Lorna never gave Preston the time of day so she did not realize that he had feelings for her. Instead, she set her sights on Mig, an Onyx Skull who thinks he is the best gift for any woman. What transpires is a well written storyline where Lorna learns the meaning of love and how far Preston is willing to go for her. This is one story filled with action, adventure and romance. TOP OFF THE GOOD STUFF!!! Ready to get down and dirty? Jadyn kicks another one out and is definitely on roll. Each piece of her work I read the more impressed I am. Running through another fantastic storyline with amazing, well developed and relatable characters. Strong personalities that balance and blend. Each one supporting the main characters that come alive before your eyes. She shows us the talent she carries with such endless possibilities that captures your attention and holds it till the last word. Flawlessly pulling us into her imagination and creates a world around us until everything else ceases to exist. The scenes and schemes she are so vividly detailed it provides a beautiful backdrop for a whole new adventure. You get all the excitement and action along with all the emotions coming through as the tale unfolds. Twists and turns that keep you hanging on the edge of your seat. One magnificent author. Wonderful job Jadyn, thanks for sharing this remarkable read with us.
I loved this book! It had all the hallmarks (to me) of a good adventure romance, whilst encompassing the paranormal shifter aspect too! The vestory revolves around Lorna and Preston, who are very familiar with each other having known each other since babyhood! She is an independent princess who want life on her own terms, not her father's and he is the future leader of Black Harbour! Naturally she gets into trouble! Still a great addition to the series! I would, however, recommend reading them in chronological order, not published order, but that is your choice as the published order works too by creating a back history
Do yourself a favour and read them all!

This series installment was the back story for Preston and Lorna, proud parents of... (check out Reign of Ash). With this story more of the history of Black Harbor is revealed. The story gives inside into characters seen later (earlier books) and helps you understand how/why certain attitudes and alliances exist. Good story. I liked Preston and his struggle with coming to terms with his feelings toward Lorna. I enjoyed Lorna's same struggle, but she was just a little bit rash and somewhat entitled, but she is royalty and her personality kind of reminds you of someone else (Read above reference ). Overall, good story and nice setup for the rest of the series.
Fast easy read. This is a stand-alone book in the Black Harbour Dragons world but reading the previous stories will give you a better feel for the overall world. This is Lorna’s story. Preston has been watching over her since she was a child. He’s always there for her and realizes he’s in love with her, but she sees him as a protector. Why a 4 instead of a 5? I thought Lorna was too dense (self involved) at times. It’s not out of character. She is young and sheltered and she does come to see more clearly but it irritated me. Still enjoyed the story. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
Jadyn Chase has written another wonderful story. Lorna is one feisty female dragon and a princess. Preston is tasked with protecting her and she gets in to a great deal of trouble. He rescues her every time. There are other books in the series but they are good as standalones. My biggest problem with this book? It is too short. It is a good read for an afternoon. This story was interesting. The characters were engaging and entertaining and the storyline was intriguing and interesting. The interactions between characters were fun to read. This connects to earlier stories. I enjoyed reading it.

For someone who is not a big fan of fantasy, these stories are getting me addicted. In this one you see the daughter of one from the previous story and her attempt to find her place in amongst the scalers/athros. I am looking forward to seeing the next step in this if there is one.

He has loved her from afar and he would protect her with his life. She slowly learns that not everyone has her back. S once she learns this she starts to depend on him more and more. Can this turn into something else? See how it will end

Little Preston had made a vow to Argos when he first laid eyes on baby Lorna to always protect her. Fast forward 20yrs and he not only protects her but loves her deeply. She's just never considered him that way. Thankfully, both her mother and his are able to get her to see what has always been there. Have read and love all the Black Harbor dragon books.....and this is another hit!
this is a great dragon shifter book, it continues series, but it is the next generation, amazing characters, well written sexy hero, with a sassy heroine who can keep him on his toes!

I love Dragon Stories. I enjoy romance as well. The pace of this story is good with everything that drives the story. I find that having the backstory that is provided in this book makes this series even better. This is my kind of book & I recommend it.
I enjoyed reading this book 📚, it has a good storyline. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Golden Beauty I realy enjoyed this latest installment in the scalers history. This series starts by telling you a story whereby you get to know the characters, then the following story works backward to tell those original characters storys. I am surprised but it works well and keeps your interest. Looking forward to more. Recommended reading
