From time to time, I got cravings for paranormal romance - especially werewolf romance!

This one looked like it fits the bill and was free on Amazon...

The story is pretty short and straight forward. Jace and Skye were destined to be together but stuff gets in their way, eventually they are thrown back together + instant sex + ex-boyfriend drama thrown into mix = happily ever after. Oldest recipe reused with sprinkle of werewolves...enjoyable.

3 stars. This is a good, sexy, short wolf shifter romance. In a short time this author builds decent characters with a connection that when it ends your like awe shit that sucks. A good read to break the monotony of reading certain genres. Box set free at this time.

A nice, short shifter romance. It would have been good if it was a bit longer and given a bit more background about the werewolves. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the pack and learning more about them.

If you are in the mood for a quick shifter novella, check out this book by Deanna Chase, written under her pen name Kenzie Cox. Friends to lovers, fated mates, and the introduction of a shifter wolf pack in the bayou and a group of hunters attempting to take them down. This book will satisfy your alpha wolf craving! It’s also the first in a series of novellas and I am eager to listen to the other books in the series.

Jace and Skye. This one starts off a bit slow and dull with a kinda juvenille writing style. But by the end of the short story, it was more interesting. I read the first 3 books in a row and they get better as you do. As though the author is finding her feet and having more fun with it. Skye has had a crush on Jace for a while but either he has had a girlfriend or she has had a boyfriend. Finally they are both single, but still Jace holds back, partly because of his secret life as a Shifter. But of course, circumstances intercede and bring them together. Circumstances including her jack-*ss ex-boyfriend and the threat Skye had no clue about. Jace, however knows a lot more about her ex than she does and isn't sure if he can trust her because of this.

Explanation of my ratings are in my profile

Setting: Louisiana bayou. Contemporary
Genre: Shifter romance
This is an average story I enjoyed spending time with. The characters are interesting, though somewhat one dimensional. The same goes for the plot. There was so much potential, but there isn't much room to elaborate in 65 pages. I think maybe at least 100 more pages would have allowed more depth to the characters and better development of the plot. Over all, this story was worth the time and Kindle price.

Nice short read

I was looking for a short read for a trip and this fit the bill nice. Some parts of the story had me thinking that this was not the first book in a series. By the author rehashing certain events I thought maybe it was from a previous book. But otherwise nice book.

A mishmash of events spiraling to a rapid conclusion.

Skye wants Jace...Jace wants Skye. Wham-bam-thank you mam and this story is done. This novella moves at a break speed pace but packs a lot of information in a few chapters. Harmless paranormal fun. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 2 stars.

Jace: is book one of Wolves Of The Rising Sun paranormal romances.

I was surprised when I came to the end of this at only 65 pages when I believed that I had downloaded a book of 146 pages. My book was also written by Deanne Chase so I suppose she goes by both names.

Much of the 65 pages are filled with hot romance between Jace and Skye with little time to build any depth to the story. Jace is a werewolf and Skye is a photographer who has always liked wolves. Her desire to become Jace's mate is fast with no hold-ups which suited the length of the story.

As an introduction to the series, I'm glad this book was free as it left me rather disappointed.

When ordering a paranormal romance you almost have to expect a certain amount of cheesiness; yet, I also enjoy a well thought out storyline. Unfortunately, Jace (Wolves of the Rising Sun) was light on world building, strong characterizations and a well developed plot. Don't get me wrong, the writing was good but it just seemed as. though the author was in a hurry thus leaving the reader with a 65 page novella.

Skye is a photographer who is attempting to film wolves in the Louisiana bayou. She is extremely attracted to one of the owners, Jace, of a dive bar. However, the time was never right. Either he was with someone or she was with her creep of a boyfriend, Lannister.

When a sudden storm brings Jace and Skye together, both will get more than they bargained for and secrets will be revealed. The story was okay but explanations and the lack of depth in the development of the plot made me feel like the author was just lazy. I will go on to read the next two books since I purchased them in a bundle. Also, other reviewers have indicated that the series gets better as it progresses. I hope so!

I enjoyed this series in the "Fated Mates" collection of paranormal werewolf books more than I thought I would. And that's always a good thing! For a 65-odd page book, there's only so much story to tell, but the author does a good job in world-building and creating likeable characters. I enjoyed the descriptions of the Louisiana bayou setting, and the interactions between the characters of the book. Nicely done.

I love these short shifter books ;) Normally I don't like the insta-love feeling in books but for some reason it's always ok with shifter! The was a hot little book with a strong female character and a sexy shifter!

The narration was great, I love her male voice!

This was an okay read. I think the author tried to give too much information in a small book so it didn't flow well to me

In the first book of the Wolves of the Rising Sun series, Skye has left her abusive, manipulative boyfriend and she’s headed to the bayou to take pictures, to relax and to figure out her next move. Always attracted to the bartender at the local dive bar, she and Jace could never be together since they were both seeing other people. Now they’re both single and they take their flirty friendship to the next level. Until Jace’s brother, Aiden, accuses her of being a traitor and wanting to kill them.
The romance and action happened very quickly in this novella, but the love felt believable. The action with the bad guy at the end felt forced to me and I think Skye accepted the fact that Jace was a werewolf a little too easily.
I prefer books written in 3rd person but this 1st person narrative caught my eye so I thought I’d give it a chance. The only typo I found was that the author kept switching back and forth from how long Jace and Skye knew each other before the start of this story. In one chapter, they’d known each other for two years and, in the next chapter, it’s been three years, then it jumps back to two years. Other than that, the book is very well-written.

Jace and skye

First book in this series of wolves, this is a short read (but there is a few books) it starts with the alpha but it's not alpha in your face controlling the pack kind of series,so far in this book he has two brothers and a human female friend rayner or something (I think she is soon to be love interest for luc) but there can be a few more just not seen in this book.
Skye is a photographer and showed up 3 years before to take photos of the wolves (she is human don't know about shifters) jace was dating a women called Grace at the time.there paths didn't match until now.

I found it hard to believe he would still date Grace when he knew skye was more.maybe he didn't know before but would his wolf let him continue?

I was disappointed that we never saw her shift?

This was a short shifter romance. I was worried it ended in a cliffhanger, but it wrapped up nicely. The page count didn't allow for a lot of backstory, but I thought the author did a credible job of giving us a well-rounded story. Jace and Skye have known each other for years. He was with someone long term, then she was, so they were never able to hook up, but the attraction was there between them all along. When Skye turns up for a weekend in the bayou, recently boyfriend free, they finally have a chance to explore their chemistry.

This was just a light, quick listen. I liked both narrators and enjoyed Jace and Skye coming together. Nothing super deep or angsty, but a cute story for those short on time.

The Wolves of the Rising Sun series delivers exactly what I want when I'm craving a fast, spicy read—werewolf mates, simmering tension, and a swoony surrender to fate. These stories are short but steamy, and each one hits the spot. In the first book, Jace and Skye finally come together after years of knowing each other from a distance. Jace has kept his and his family's true nature a secret for a long time, but once the truth comes out, their bond ignites with intensity.

Are these books super deep or layered with intricate world-building? Not really—and that’s totally okay. I don’t always need a 500-page epic to be entertained. These are perfect when I want something quick, hot, and satisfying. I can finish one in about an hour or two, and they still manage to check all my boxes for chemistry, plot, and paranormal vibes. Sometimes you just want a bite-sized story that delivers, and this series absolutely does.

This is my first book by Kenzie Cox and it is pretty good. This is a second-chance kind of love story with supernatural thrown into it.

Jace is the owner of the local bar and was caught up with Skye three years ago when she was in town. But Jace has secrets that could hurt Skye and that is just not something that Jace can chance.
Skye comes back to the bayou after a lot of drama has happened in her life. All she wants is to start over. But when she finds out that people close to her are threatening the wolves that she wants to protect, what will she do to protect those she love? And what will happen when she finds out what is really going on with those local wolves?

Great start to the series!

Wolves of the Rising Sun series is a one I can’t wait to binge! Jace had it all! Sexy shifters, snarky heroines, action, drama, feels, good series set-up, great characters, and HOT smexy! I Loved it!

Deanna Chase is a new to me author, and it won’t be my last.

Elena Wolfe and Jeffrey Kafer Brought It! Their performance had me completely wrapped up in this story. Roller-coaster anticipation and all.

No issues with the audio production. I listened at 1.10x speed, because this just sounded best to me. Don't be afraid to experiment.

I listened to this through Audible Escape.

When I started reading this very short novel I thought I recognised it but it turned out I have read this novella before in a box-set.

This, the second time around I sort of new what was gonna happen but still I really enjoyed the Story. It is not the best shifter story I have read but it is still good, I just wish there where a little bit more shifter in it than it is. The story otherwise is nice and interesting but I do want more from it. I wish it was longer but I cant wait to read the second novella in the series.

For me this book is a hard pass. The writing is juvenile, the pacing is way too fast so we don't really grow to care for any of the characters, the book is so short it feels like you start and end in the middle of some story with no context, relationships were questionable being either too quick to turn enemy or friend, characters had very similar voices, and as someone from the South I found all the Southern personality quirks a little campy. The erotica was super hot standalone, but that's the only good part of this book - everything else was sloppy and had me rolling my eyes.

Jace

Same old same old, no twill in storyline of wolf meets girl and mates. Low key storytelling by author and fast read. Not even humorous which could of creative more for the readers to hold onto the end of the novel. I've even purchased the audible book and this did not save or enhance the novel. Sorry, I read a large amount of wereshifters. If this novel had been my first read Into the world of shifters. I would have rated maybe a star more.
