It's one of the most baffling murder cases in St. Louis history. In February 1983, a headless body was discovered in the basement of an abandoned apartment building. It was one of the most horrific and brutal murders police detectives had ever seen. However, since the victim was a child, the police thought they would have an identity and find the murderer quickly.
They never did.
Author, and true crime fan, Bryan Alaspa, returns to this nonfiction genre for the first time in years to look at this case. In Hope, he looks at the suspects, the detectives, the murder scene and presents the information available. Perhaps, just perhaps, this is the story which will inspire someone else to finally provide the evidence which will crack the case.
This is the story of a missing girl. A girl who has since been given the name Hope.
I was born in the fine year of 1971 in Park Ridge, IL. I am a life long Chicago resident and I love the city. I spent a few years in St. Louis, as well. I knew I wanted to write from the time I sat down at my mom's electric typewriter in the 3rd grade. Now I do write. I write freelance and articles for online news sources. I write horror, thrillers and detective novels. I also write non-fiction in true crime and history genres. I publish my fiction myself as an indie publisher and write and have found an audience for my work among ebook fans. I publish for Kindle, Nook and other tablets and devices at Smashwords.com. My non-fiction is usually published in print, but that may soon change as ebooks become more and more of the norm.
Uhhhh ... I read this because I think this cold case is fascinating. Buuuuuut ... the actual "book" left a lot to be desired. If I put aside the atrocious writing (spelling, grammar, ETC.!) then this little book is a decent recap of the case. I did appreciate that the author called himself out for writing from his perspective and whatnot, but his opinions didn't add anything to the story. If you're really interested in this case there are better sources to read, haha, thanks and bye!
