No matter how good an exercise book is, it's still up to me to get moving.

I love the theories she has, and I whole heartedly agree with the idea that if you keep moving everything, you will benefit from it.

She has solid advice for all of us. This is a good read. Whether you actually follow or not is up to you.

Interesting, I think it would be more successful if this book would be also an app.

I recently found Miranda’s connective tissue and fascia workouts on YouTube, and it has healed my chronic back pain! I had literally tried everything: physio exercises, massage therapy, foam rolling, trigger point therapy, yoga, heat, ice, anti-inflammatories. My massage therapist said that my fascia was like concrete, so that got me thinking. Maybe my issue wasn’t muscular! I did research online for fascia release and connective tissue workouts and that’s what led me to Miranda’s site.

After doing all of Miranda’s free Essentrics workouts on YouTube, I signed up for a free 14-day trial of EssentricsTV, and then I found this book. I had hoped that I could get more out of the workouts by studying the movements described in the book to improve form. However, I found this difficult.

Each exercise is explained in great detail. That’s both a pro and a con. For me, I’d rather model and copy an instructor than try to figure it out from reading it.

If you are interested in the program, I highly recommend trying it online. For me, it works! I intend to either invest in some of Miranda’s DVDs or subscribe to EssentricsTV.

A friend alerted me to this author's research and science-based stretching exercises, and what a game-changer! I had no idea Miranda had a PBS Classical Stretching show in early 2000, and now she provides a streaming service with live and archived classes. Wish it were free.

The anatomical lessons while she's teaching validate my form and purpose, and I was amazed at how energized my body felt after the first video I tried.
This book illustrates and describes what is demonstrated in the free videos that are on YouTube.

She has worked with athletes and Olympians, so these exercises are good enough for me.
A balanced body is the key.

"If you are a normal person and not a professional athlete, your actual body is a weight... You don't need to add additional free weights to strengthen your muscles... You don't need more weight than your very own body offers... using weights causes compression damage to the joints... Without the weight, you can actually relax the joint muscles and pull them into a lengthened position."

I'll go back to ZoomZumba in a few weeks, but for now this program is making me feel better when I didn't even know my body needed this attention.
