Continua la buona azione della Giunti di proporre classici in forma di fumetto.
Questa è la volta del "L'Isola del tesoro" e, come per "PaperDante", troviamo una storia inedita e due storie già pubblicate.
Un merito da non sottovalutare perché avvicinano i bambini ai grandi della letteratura e a noi adulti ce lo mostrano sotto altre vesti. Questo è il bello dei classici: si trasformano a seconda dell'edizione, si plasmano per dare al lettore nuovi dettagli.
Ritroviamo così Paperino, Topolino, Pluto e Gamba di legno alla ricerca del tesoro nascosto.
Un fumetto per bambini e adulti: per i bambini da leggere per conoscere i classici, per gli adulti invece è da leggere perché non si smette di conoscere mai un classico della letteratura.
I disegni sono eccezionali, colori accesi e grafica lineare.

A cute wholesome adaptation of a gory story. Of course it doesn't include any of the killing or drinking in the original stories, as the pirates here are more well-behaved, since it targets a certain audience.
I think it follows a lot of the general story, I haven't read the original, so I'm not sure of all the differences, but it was a fun read and it was nice to see Micky, Goofy and Pete.

This just didn't work it for me. I would have given it two stars, but I took the intended audience into account. The plot and many details are changed significantly, I assume because Disney was trying to avoid references to drinking (rum is changed to tea, as in "yo ho ho and a kettle of tea..."), and there is no killing that happens. There are guns shown, but no shooting, the same with knives. Literally no one dies, not even the captain at the beginning, "Plotty Bones" (Billy Bones), who just runs off because he doesn't want to be a pirate on the seas anymore, but would rather become an explorer.
Changing the characters to Disney characters was kind of fun, and very inventive in how they used them. It reminded me a little of the Muppet movie version of the novel.

Graphic novel adaptation of Robert Lewis Stephenson's Treasure Island staring Disney characters.
I have no idea what age level this was intended for. I had fun with this... My kids weren't interested at all. The story is disney-fied (alcohol changed to tea, violence removed). It's cute and fairly faithful to the plot. There were a few middle-grades style vocabulary building exchanges. I liked the art, but I was irritated that the e-book version available through our library (unlimited copies w/o a waitlist) was hard to read on smaller devices. For some reason, not all e-book graphic novels on Libby are easy to resize or zoom in on.

Not a bad adaptation. This one made a lot more sense as a Disney adaptation then Hamlet! They still sanitized it of course. No dead man's chest, but an old gray chest. No rum, but tea. And no deaths to speak of.
The Disney classics are pretty interesting, but it is about what you'd expect.

This is our second attempt at reading an adaptation of Treasure Island and the graphic novel version definitely worked better; images make it much easier to help story comprehension and spur discussion (such as the crew recommended by Long John Silver). There's a few amusing elements for the adult reader as some of the sanitisations don't always scan properly (i.e. replacing liquor in a bar with cups of tea; 'Yo Ho Ho and a Kettle of Tea' etc).
Miss 5 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

Bella storia "topesca" come non ne leggevo da un po', ma dopotutto Teresa e Stefano non si smentiscono.
Geniale la canzone piratesca modificata da Teresa, bellissime le caratterizzazioni Disneyane dei personaggi di Stevenson da parte di Stefano, soprattutto Gambadilegno nei panni di Silver.
Mi toccherà leggerlo alle mie bimbe, che già da giorni hanno adocchiato il volume ;)

Bellissima rivisitazione in chiave Disney del capolavoro di Stevenson. Come sempre Turconi e Radice riescono nella magia di dare nuova energia ai classici della letteratura grazie a un perfetta caratterizzazione dei personaggi, qui tutti azzeccatissimi, dal giovane Jim Topkins (Topolino) al pirata Long Pete Silver (Pietro Gamba di legno).

E si continua a leggere queste edizioni Deluxe di quelle che un tempo si chiamavano le Parodie Disney. Dopo Topolino e Pippo on the road si passa a Robert Louis Stevenson e la sua Isola del tesoro.
Ho ascoltato l'audiolibro del romanzo l'anno scorso e ho dimenticato quasi tutto. L'unica cosa che mi è rimasta in mente e la voce del narratore che canticchia «Quindici uomini sulla cassa del morto/io-ho-ho, e una bottiglia di rum!». Invece mi son trovata davanti a «Quindici uomini sulla cassa giù al porto/io-ho-ho... e il bollitore del tè!». Non c'è alcol qua, ma il tè viene considerato alla stregua degli alcolici con il buon dottore Horatio Livesey che cerca di dissuadere chiunque gli capiti a tiro dal bere il tè.
Molto belli i disegni, con le ombreggiature perfino sul muso di Topolino. Lui fa proprio la figura del sempliciotto in quest'avventura, mentre Pippo è un Ben Gum dalla doppia personalità. Da sganasciarsi dalle risate.
Interessanti anche le note degli autori alla fine del volume che spiegano quali personaggi Disney hanno utilizzato per quali personaggi.
Beh, vediamo cosa offre il mercato prossimamente per quanto riguarda queste edizioni Deluxe: sono un po' costosetti ma ne vale la pena.

Nel volume "l'Isola del Tesoro"edito Giunti, riadattamento della celebre opera di Robert Louis Stevenson, attraverso la matita di Stefano Turconi e le parole di Teresa Radice, ma anche attraverso la versione romanzata scritta da Tea Orsi e illustrata da Mike Wall, possiamo vivere un'incredibile (duplice) avventura marinaresca alla ricerca del tesoro nascosto.

Con il giovane Jim Hawkins, interpretato da Paperino (Jim Duckins), prima, e da Topolino (Jim Topkins), dopo, viviamo un'avventura che porterà i protagonisti a solcare le onde dei mari accompagnati da una ciurma di pirati, a vele spiegate seguendo la rotta tracciata dal Capitano, il cui nome non si pronuncia, per cercare il tesoro contrassegnato sulla mappa dalla tipica "X", che possiede ogni mappa del tesoro che si rispetti.

Sogni che si realizzano, pirati, un brigantino che veleggia verso un'isola ignota, capitani, un disperso ritrovato, in chiave simpatica e propria dei personaggi Disney ci lasciamo coinvolgere e scoprire la storia di Stevenson.

Ho molto apprezzato la trasposizione a fumetti dell'opera, sia la sceneggiatura ma anche il disegno e i colori delle tavole.
Un classico che nelle librerie dei ragazzi (ma anche dei più grandi) non può mancare!!!

Come disse il buon Robert Louis Stevenson, ad Henry James che non aveva mai fatto una caccia al tesoro da bambino, è possibile di dimostrare che chi non lo abbia mai fatto non sia mai stato veramente bambino.
E niente da aggiungere. Sia da piccola che da grande ho sognato di solcare i mari con Jim Hawkins. E continuo a leggere le parodie Disney avidamente.

Squisitamente fedele all'originale (seppure in chiave meno tetra e umoristica: su "Quindici uomini sulla cassa giù al porto e un bollitore del té" sono abbastanza morta XD), con dei disegni che tra l'altro mi sono piaciuti molto :)
