Ninjas: Japan's Stealthy Secret Agents

Rate this book
When thinking about Ninjas people often picture deadly killers wearing black clothing. However, while ninjas could be fierce and skilled warriors, they weren't just assassins who sneaked around in the dark. They more often worked as spies and secret agents who gathered intelligence and information on enemy clans. Dynamic illustrations and engaging tales of ninja warriors teach readers what it was like to be a stealthy secret agent in Medieval Japan.

This book is very well done and very informative! The illustrations are great. Now I understand who ninjas are and their purpose. I did not even know that there were female ninjas in feudal Japan! I was also surprised to learn of a ninja clan who used guerrilla warfare tactics. Very interesting! Highly recommend!

Good non-fiction content presented alongside famous stories/folklore. Illustrations and content were not my style, but I can see lots of kids really enjoying this. Will be shelved in our upper library for grades 3-5, but I would definitely feel comfortable letting first graders take this as well.
