Beetle, Weevil, and Flea are great friends, until the day Beetle stops sharing.
Coxe’s artistic photographs are still a shining star in this book using the “long e” sound. The text this time is a little stiff, but it has a clear message and you won’t want to miss one book in the series!
We're so proud of you for reading "Greedy Beetle"! You learned something very important - that sharing with friends makes everyone happy, including you. When Beetle kept all the leaves for himself, he felt sad and alone. Now you know that sharing your toys, snacks, or books with your friends will make you feel good inside. Real friends share with each other! You're becoming such a wonderful reader, sweetheart. Keep it up!

This was a cute story about sharing that really drove the long-E sound home. We loved their use of felted critters instead of traditional illustrations. Very cute. Our only real complaint was that the repetition of the long-E sound and the similar character design made the three characters (Beetle, Weevil, and Flea) a little confusing. Didn't take much to sort that out though!
I love the art, crafted characters photographed in their environment. I appreciate the the author managed to create a real story while emphasizing the long 'e' sound. Flea, Beetle and Weevil all eat leaves. But when all the leaves fall off the trees, Beetle keeps all the leaves for itself.
