Part Three in the brand new series from Holly Hepburn, perfect for all fans of Cathy Bramley and Katie Fforde. The New Year brings hope to Nessie as she begins to put her life back together – she’s almost tempted by a flattering job offer from a rival pub – but things only get worse for Sam. The arrival of old flame Nick Borrowdale brings some much-needed perspective, and Sam finally accepts the inevitable and faces up to her responsibilities. Laurie continues to stir up trouble at the pub, causing Gabe to wonder whether he has another agenda. And then tragedy strikes at the heart of Little Monkham and nothing will ever be the same again.
If you loved Part Three of the LAST ORDERS AT THE STAR AND SIXPENCE series, pre-order the last in the series, Part Last Words at the Star and Sixpence now!
I’ve wanted to write books for adults for as long as I can remember but I was too scared to try. One day I decided to be brave and dipped a toe into the bubble bath of romantic comedy with my first novella, Cupidity, and I’ve never looked back. I often try to be funny to be funny, except for when faced with traffic wardens and border control staff. My favourite thing is making people smile.
I’ve tried many jobs over the years, from barmaid to market researcher and I even had a brief flirtation with modelling. These days I am mostly found writing.
I live near London with my grey tabby cat, Portia. We both have an unhealthy obsession with Marmite.
The story was over before I knew it, interesting fast read. I loved the Easter setting.
Sam did tell Nessie the truth and I'm pleased the story progressed this way. Nessie is torn in this part with mixed feelings, while Sam has to face the facts. There is a question of who is the babies daddy? I'm with Sam though I wouldn't want someone to be my partner just because of a baby, even though I'd be pleased the dad wanted to be part of the child's life.
When I thought the story couldn't get any sadder for the characters, a death of a well loved character throws them all.
A special mention to Luke in this story he's so sweet with Nessie being his mum.
Now up to the last part, I don't want this story to end
Book 3 of a 4 part book series. Note to readers, you can either read this as a 4 part book series like I’m doing or there is a full length novel which includes all of the 4 parts should you prefer to read it in that format. Also before reading this 4 part series or the full length book, make sure you have read the series that comes before this series, being Star and Sixpence which comprises of 4 short shorties or one full length novel.
Well I’m still very much enjoying this series, almost sad knowing I’ve only got part 4 of the series left and then that’s it, finished, but then all good things have to come to an end eventually. Anyway, with part 3, we discover that Sam has told Nessie the truth which obviously gives Nessie confused feelings, and for awhile she is not her usual self around Sam, which I can understand to a degree given what she’s been through, but thankfully by end of part 3, all is well and back on track with the two sisters. We also have the reappearance of Josh, which made things interesting as he wants Sam back and yet Sam wants Gabe. So hopefully come part 4, Sam and Gabe will end up together.
As for Laurie, well as I said in my review for part 2, still not quite sure what his game plan is, but I’m definitely thinking he’s a bad egg, he’s hiding something from the sisters, looking forward to finding out the truth about him in part 4.
There was a shocking sad/emotion event in this story which involves Franny, it was so sad that that had to happen, but lovely to see how the community all come together to support A distort Henry.
Right without further ado, I’m heading into book 4, the finally part to the series.
Sam and Gabe are getting on more than fine. Meds is struggling to come to terms with Sam's pregnancy and a sudden death sends shockwaves through Little Monkham.
Holly Hepburn is another author that never disappoints. The Star and Sixpence series has definitely been my favourite set of books that Holly has written. The way the story is told you can easy visualise each of the residents and where they live and end up feeling as if you know them personally.
Although I can’t wait for the next instalment I am also sad as this will unfortunately be the last one in the series. I hope Holly decides to continue writing about this particular village and pub in the future.
I don't like these short instalments, i would much rather have the whole book but that is my fault for not realising when i pre-ordered them.
I had just got into this one when it ended. This one was far more interesting and with an unexpected loss of a character it has added something new. J do love the warm, comfortable feeling this series of books gives me.
