This was a novella sized book. So probably about a 1 hour read for the average reader. Even though it isn't very long it tells a story really well. I was definitely into it. I guess it would be classified as a dark thriller. With my kids on the verge of giving me an aneurysm today it was a nice short(er) read.
You knew me but I didn't know you. To me you were a stranger. A random person in the crowd. No one.If I could go back, if I knew what I know now, I would have run. But I can't go back. And I didn't know better. Not then.
I didn't know you would ruin me. Ruin me with lies. With lust. With longing. Just look at me now in this world without you. I have nothing.
This is not a love story. It is a story of obsession. ------------------------------------- This is Short and I wouldn't exactly call it dark more of revenge with a twist For a quick read as I picked this up last night and finished it in half an hour, yet for all that this most definitely packed in the intrigue the angst, the 'WTF' moments, I read this in one sitting last night. I will not dwell on the plot as it will deter you from reading, it is a hell of a twist book. right to the very end. It holds your attention, greedily turning the page. One woman's narrative through out with one hell of an ending. I thoroughly enjoyed it
This book is like a car crash you can't look away from. Something about the writing is both off-putting and gorgeous. Love and death, violence, and art, that is this book.
Well shit. This is definitely not a romantic, happily ever after type of story. It’s a relatively short read and you can kind of guess what the story is leading up to pretty quickly. I don’t want to spoil anything because the summary doesn’t really give anything away at all.
Let me just say that Sophie was an idiot. Going to meet a stranger at his house after he calls you a car and then when you get there and it turns out to be a run-down shack with nothing around? Umm... maybe you should run, girl.
I’m still wiping my eyes from this book and clinching my fist I mean holy crap this book literally blew me away! We meet a girl named Sophie and this is all told in her point of view and we meet a art student killian there is something strange about him I’m still reeling from this! Wow chills!
This was rather interesting. Went in blind, reading the first few chapters made me think this was a dark romance. It wasn't. Ending was a bit predictable though. All chapters told in h's perspective. Quick dark read to pass the time.
This is a different kind of love story. It is exciting, intriguing, dark, sexy and oh so very mind blowing. It grabbed my attention from the very start and kept me on the edge of my seat to the very end. This is the first book I've read from this author and I definitely plan on reading much more from this edgy, minding blowing and talented author.

This was a very unexpected thriller for me it really gripped me from the beginning to the end. I loved how well the auther did with the dark thrilling parts of the book as well as the sexy parts. I love a dark sexy suspense thriller and this was so worth reading even if it was on the short side. I would love to read a full novel by the auther.

Wow. This story packed a punch. The minute I started reading it, I knew it was different. It's in first AND second person. The h is telling the story directly to You. I don't want to give away who You is, so I will leave it at that. This is a short story, but so good! So good that I would have read more if it was there, but I do understand ending it where it did. I really feel speechless about this story. I don't know what to say. It is haunting.
I don't even know where to begin. Totally intense and dark but absolutely amazing. The book is dark as you can get but oh my amazing. I was nearly in tears at least 5 times. Loved Sophie character, definitely saw something going on with 'You' from the beginning but didn't see some of the jaw dropping moments. Sabre another amazing book. Xx
I didn’t expect this novella to grip me so quickly and just not let go. It takes a unique talent to ride the fine line between dark and sexy without ruining it by slipping into unnecessary depravity, and this author has mastered it. Amazing.
This may be a short tale about one girls life before they appear but you will love it so much. I will not give too much away as it will spoil the read for you. A wonderful read

This was great, it kept me engaged the whole time. In just a few paragraphs this author has managed to flesh out characters and tell an compelling story that I highly recommend....
Really enjoyed reading this short story, the characters were good the writing was very good and for a short story there was just enough in it to make sense.
I really enjoyed this book even if it was obvious who the villain was. It was quite short, and I wish it would've expanded on the outcome. It was still a great read.
Sociopath with a willing victim until the truth comes out. Haven't parents and the nightly news taught females to be more cautious? The clues were there but as the character said, she didn't listen. Horrific tale that makes me wonder how much each of the family members were actually in on everything. The fathers reaction was very strange when they found him getting ready to paint her. And the ending shocked me. Spoiler alert
Why is the father on trial? Shouldn't it be an act of defense on his daughter's behalf? Was it wealth at work once again? The coverup happened before. Question is how many times before? He said it was his first but he is a proven liar. Maybe he meant the first like that. I needed closure at the end. Did it even say he died? Why didn't the father get charged for assessory given the father's information that they knew who did it? The daughter left evidence stating her intentions so she would have been on trial. So many questions left unanswered. Felt unfinished. Good premise though.
Additional verbiage with further depth answering the questions posted here would have made for a Stephen Kingish feel and would have blown the readers away.
this book was in fact interesting and different, which is why I like it, the story was a bit boring because the way its narrated was a bit off, however because its different I'm going to read book #2, now as for the characters they were bit weird and heres why:
the hero(Killian): is mysterious but a bit childish, he stutters, and made me feel like he has a hard time spitting words out, he is awkward and evil, I can't read his mind or his thoughts and I didn't know exactly what he wanted from the heroine...was it revenge? contentious humiliation? or just a fun game for the rich boy!!!
the heroine(I forgot her name): is way too trusting and childish as well, I mean she's 21 years old but doesn't understand that you can't go out with strangers let alone go to their house from the first encounter, especially ALONE!!! doesn't that raise any red flags in mind, I think she deserved what she got, next time be careful and google the dude, don't be carless and trusting, especially after what happened to both her mom and sister, and ALWAYS trust your instincts.
I think this books is good enough for me to read the second book in the series, where ever it is!!!!
Sophie first meets Killian while standing on line for movie tickets. Their mutual attraction seems instantaneous. He is an extremely talented art student, whose workspace and apparent residence is located in a somewhat ramshackle old warehouse.
Twenty-one year old Sophie's mother died when she was a young child and her older (by 6 years) sister, Phoebe, has been missing and presumed dead for the past 3 years. Her body was just found when the story begins. Sophie's father turned to alcohol to ease the pain of both losses and has become too far gone to work any longer. Phoebe was a wild spirit and was reported to be a prostitute/ escort, who was working at a party hosted by a very wealthy couple, at the time she went missing.
As Sophie's connection and relationship with Killian rapidly progresses, several apparent coincidences and ignored clues become more obvious after new information leads to a horrifying conclusion.
This is a short story and very quick read. Although slightly dark, it really isn't very disturbing. But it is very nicely developed and written and well worth the read.
Kiera did a great job narrating this one. She kept me engaged and handled the characters well.
As for the story, it was predictable I think it could have been a 5 star if it was more fleshed out and mysterious, and less obvious as to who was in the wrong. I think if the way it was told was in the present and not as a recollection it would have created more suspense. That said, I still enjoyed listening to it play out. I do think the FMC was a bit too intense and free with her feelings. I would have expected her to be bit more guarded considering the amount loss she’s experienced and the circumstances around it. But then again the book relies on her being naïve otherwise the story wouldn’t exist.
I think it’s worth a listen because Kiera really brings these characters to life and her efforts should be recognized and appreciated.
‘It was nice to meet you Sophie Rush.’ How does he know her last name???
“I ended up in bed with a stranger, Caleb in the next room” Any chance the dude she slept with is the guy from the cinema?
What’s the chances he used to date her sister?
Actually what’s the chance she killed her sister because she’s obsessed with this man?
Made some notes along the way, and I don’t think the ending was that surprising ,it would have been surprising if she was the one who killed her sister. She spent the entire time comparing herself to her, basically saying her sister was better than her and considering that and the fact that she was imagining a future with this man and wondering what their kids would look like, along with this line “I didn’t want to share.”

This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was interesting. It was definitely written in a manner that is different than I am used to reading. The entire novella is told from the point of view of Sophie, the main female character. However, instead of telling the reader what's going on and what she's thinking, Sophie is telling it all to Rowan throughout the entire story. It started out a little slow for me but did pick up pretty quickly. I liked it and will be looking to read more by this author. *I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is my honest review.*
Wow, this was a bit too dark for me. The tone was suspenseful and haunting. The players were dark and twisted.
Killian draws Sophie into his evil web, but Sophie has her own plans. What she doesn’t expect is the emotional tie she feels with Killian which is dark and twisted.
Definitely not a lighthearted and feelgood novel. It was a captivating and disturbing story.
Writing was good, but too disturbing for my taste.

This is a short and dark story with an interesting storyline. It is not a dark romance but revenge story. It could have been easily developed into full story as the potential is definitely there. The idea reminds me a bit of Dark Bishop another dark (but really, really dark and twisted story). The narrative is bit off and sounds as internal monologue of the person who narrates. It was different from the usual dual POV but I would not like to read it in a full length story, becomes quickly tiring. Otherwise good attempt, hope to read more similar of this author
