Cathy is stuck as a misfit. Born in the south, she lives in the north. from a middle class home, she is working class by poverty and experience. She knows what it's like to be homeless, and what it's like to pick a dirty penny off the pavement and be happy to have it, and she also know the correct way to address a duchess, and whether to put the milk in first. She doesn't fit in anywhere - except at poetry events, where you can't know whether the person next to you is a convicted felon, a linguistics professor, or both. This collection reflects life's oddments, whether in science fiction poems about cleaners of stars (Songs of the Starcleaners), a playful examination of scientific terms (Calculated), or an emotional moment when having a heart scan (Such a Thing, my Leaping, Dancing Heart). Cathy Bryant's previous publications include two single author poetry collections published: Contains Strong Language and Scenes of a Sexual Nature, and Look At All the Women. She has over 200 poetry and short story publications in magazines and anthologies all kinds of publications from The Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine to My Father Lost Me to the Beast at Cards!
Now that Cathy has moved her books to a faith-based writing ministry, all of her eBooks can be downloaded for free. if you would like to support her ministry -- whether financially, in prayer, or by sharing the books with others -- please visit this page for more info: https://cathybryantbooks.wordpress.co...
Some poems are funny, some thought-provoking, and some use language in really interesting ways. It's the ideal collection for anyone who has ever felt that they don't quite fit in, or, like me, was put off poetry by school.
I was encouraged to read this and I am very glad I did. I may even venture into other poetry!
