Again, real rating 3.5. Story and the world setting continues to be interesting, but this one was confusing in how many times it jumped back and forth on the timeline. Although I could see there were reasons for it, it made some things hard to follow as I was trying to figure out where a section was in relation to the rest of the story. I feel like it could have flowed better. It might be one worth reading twice to try and get everything, which isn’t a bad thing, it just takes me out of it a bit the first read through.
The first series “She is Life” was not available at my local comic shop. As a result, although I love the diverse fantasy world, I’m left a little confused. But I’m glad I picked it up; it’s refreshing to read fantasy that isn’t just Tolkien all over again.
I’ll have to get a copy of the first graphic novel. Once I’ve read that I’ll probably re-read this and adjust the rating accordingly.
The language in She is Death returned to the more poetic style used in The Untamed, which I wasn’t a big fan of. The art also returned to a darker style and that I did like a lot. But the story still feels like it is missing large chunks and it is a struggle to make it make sense.
