First, I'd like to say that Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur was the first modern poetry book I've read and I loved it enormously! It was everything I needed in that moment. Then I had a few tries of reading poetry but it didn't worked out too well for me. But I didn't gave up on reading poetry! And then I found this book on NetGalley. The premise sounded exactly like what I was looking for, so I read it.
Let me tell you that this book made me smile, made me cry, made me feel peaceful towards the end! I will definitely buy this book in the paperback edition! These poems understand you and your crushed soul. Please, read this book! It's one of the greatest out there and you won't regret it!
There were poems with titles and then some parts where the author gave some apologies that never came from the people you wanted to hear these words from, like:

If you want someone to apologize and know you are never going to get it, read this. Pretend its from them and you will feel a bit better. This took longer to get through and not all the poems sat with me but some hit hard. This is one that will help you where you meed it and leave you curious when you dont.

You hear that time heals all wounds, but your clock seems to have seconds mixed with the hours and the hours with the months.
The days come like molasses dripping the minutes like a snail traveling.
You hear that time heals all wounds, but it feels like it’s on vacation and your turn won’t come for another century.
Here you are, waiting for the healing to come work an overnight shift on you. It never came, and you are realizing that’s it’s not the days that end the pain, it is what we pour into those days that patches the wounds and heals us over time...

Beautiful, amazing, just what I needed to read right now.
I don´t think this is actually poetry, but it felt so good reading those words, they felt like they were written just for me.

There are some beautiful lines and images throughout this poetry collection, but the thing that I felt was lacking the entire book, which is the biggest reason I'm only giving this two stars, is subtlety. Poetry is supposed to be the form of the subtle and beautiful, while these poems rushed headlong toward their subjects, often with titles that sucked any chance of mystery out of them. I didn't have to think about any of them for any longer than it took to read them to know what the poet thought or wanted me to think about a subject.

This book struck me and left me bleeding from a wound which I thought was healed. It made me think all over again about my journey and helped me to realize that the wound caused by "Apologies That Never Came" is not yet healed but I have to let go of my anger for me not for them.

First of all I love poetry, and this book is fantastic for anyone seeking closure or an apology that may never come. What resonates with me most in this book is that we create our own closure, and what we add to our days is what heals us from disappointment, suffering, and wounds. I believe this book is a confrontation with oneself. I didn't like it so much tbh but it's a good book anyway.

3.5 Stars rounded up.
I’m not an expert in poetry. I would consider myself a novice to be honest. However, these pieces weren’t deeply engaging enough for me. I found them very surface level. I find they were a great read for someone who is going through things but it didn’t have any effect on me. As soon as I found myself trying getting engaged with a piece, it ended. And that happened time and time again. I haven’t read any of the author’s work before but I will probably read one more thing before judging his writing skills. This was a good palate cleanser between books though.

The burden gets lighter and eventually it’ll fall off your shoulders …
It’s a quick read. Short poems . As someone who has waited a lifetime for apologies from some people ( as I’m sure all you feel the same) I was hoping for a bit more from this book. So I still feel empty about the whole topic. This was geared more to romantic relationships.

The kind of poetry I like.

A poetry collection filled with straightforward pieces without none to take you to a deeper level of thinking and feeling.
The titles were overkill, already giving away what the pieces were going to be about and erasing any mystery around them. It was easy to understand exactly what the poet was trying to say and I breezed through the collection with little effort and interest. It also felt like I was receiving advice instead of being told a story. It was like the only effort was writing to write without adding a personal touch.

Cloudy days are nothing to love unless you’ve known the loneliness that will try to swallow you through dark nights.
Pain is nothing bad if you have never had the good that is the opposite of it.
Water will never be “needed” if you have never met dehydration and never known what it means to be thirsty.
How would you have known what love isn’t, if you’ve never met people who could offer it to you?
There were some nice lines here, but this collection mostly didn’t feel like poetry to me.

I think I was hoping for too much from this little poetry book. I wanted all the feels and I felt like I was just getting advice. I was also hoping that the author would validate those who never got their apologies. I didn't get that from this book.

for what they chose,
you have to realize that there's
anther choice that exists.
The choice not to.
It was the same option that tapped on
their shoulder and reminded them that
they could choose to end something
good, or not.
Yet they chose it.
They chose it by themselves.
But you carry the blame like a curse,
like hurting you is a burden that you
should carry for your betrayer.
It is rare to find someone guilty of the
crimes that have been committed unto
them"

teary eyes,
pain turned liquid,
mourning someone who isn't worth a
thought.
Crawling down your cheeks,
your eyes keep on raining.
Thoughts clouded by memories that
should've never been made.
Bottle of emotions popped open,

Be wise and protect all you’ve worked hard to become. Terrible pasts aren’t meant to be relived.
I’m sorry it took you so long to come back to yourself.
When it happens, it hurts. No one goes through this life without meeting some type of hurt or pain. Do not let that disappointment lead to a disappointed life. Do not let it harden you heart, do not let this failed attempt at love, despite what number of try it is, make you give up.
It’s okay to be disappointed. It’s frustrating when you play the fool, but it’s not okay to give birth to the fear of disappointment that will rob you of a life of love and loving life.
Perhaps they were different,
and the ending was the only similarity to the others. Besides, with this thing called love,
you either find your forever, or you find another stepping-stone for the path.
Maybe you’re lucky for meeting new faces, catapulting you to new places, though they never remain the face that you wake up to every morning.
Regret will always show its face when we are hurt, but it will never heal a thing. It will never create a better path, but it will encourage us to remain stuck in the past to dwell.
There are things in this life you cannot control; you can only control how you rise and grow from it.
Grow from your failures.

Heartbreaks take a toll on all of us. Many of us lose our appetite, and lose our desire to do anything; we lose our smile and our strength. The bad is not that it’s happening, the bad is staying in it and allowing it to destroy you. Those who find beauty in this life are those who stick around and cross the rivers of sadness.The light on the other side will seem like a myth, but those words have been proven to be true countless times.
All I can say is that I love it and it would be a five star🌟 if I read it after a breakup it will hit more if I experience it

This book read more like a book of advice rather than poetry. Didn't capture my interest. Felt like I was being forced to listen to my grandpas advice about love and heartbreak. It wasn't personal or original. I felt like it was very vague and trying too hard. I couldn't feel like the author had anything to say, it kinda felt like he was writing to write and there was no emotion behind it. Very Disappointing

I honestly loved this book. It takes you through the stages of loss in a relationship with poems that describe how I’ve felt every step of the way. It helped me process. I couldn’t read it all at once as it became an emotional experience for me. I had to take it in a few pages at a time. As there are no real “chapters” it’s easy to get lost in it. It’s as if the author is a mouthpiece for everything we’ve needed to hear.

Poetry collections are not something I pick up often but they are something I always enjoy; this collection was no exception.
The lines of poetry within this book were beautiful. The words were impactful and so relatable: While the poems were written with a failed romantic relationship in mind, I think a lot of the emotions and thoughts could be applied to any relationship a person has/loses in their life.

So I have been all up in my feelings recently after a "situation-ship" ended and this book said the words that I needed to hear. Some of the poems were hit or miss, but overall, the theme was adhered to for the entirety of the book. One poem that really resonated with me was this:
"We've all been fooled by something or someone. We've seen things go a different direction than expected. It happens when we expect the person we are loving to do their part and love us the same, yet they don't. When it happens, it hurts. No one goes through this life without meeting some type of hurt or pain. Do not let that disappointment lead to a disappointed life. Do not let it harden your heart, do not let this failed attempt at love, despite what number of try it is, make you give up.

So I have been all up in my feelings recently after a "situation-ship" ended and this book said the words that I needed to hear. Some of the poems were hit or miss, but overall, the theme was adhered to for the entirety of the book. One poem that really resonated with me was this:

I picked up this collection in Target and couldn’t stop reading, so I had to buy it. I finished it in about 30 minutes. I recommend this for anyone who is experiencing heartbreak, or for anyone who has experienced heartbreak in a past relationship.
