Is it wrong to love finding out more about Beatrice when she's so off the rails? Terrifyingly driven, she's getting more involved in the alchemical/magical world of the Guild. That attention she's drawing though? Maybe not the good kind.
This may be just a snippet of her past, but boy does it leave you with questions. It's a nice side piece to the series. I'm still bemused by her relationship with Garret (or at least, what he's getting out of it), but it only goes to show what kind of person Bea has been in the past and how she's handled threats of all kinds. Jen had better watch herself...

Great short story that manages to detail the world, gives a very interesting background for the protagonist and drove me to keep turning pages until the end rather than allowing me to sleep. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
