Wonderful Story of a Highland Lord and a Young “Witch of the Heart”

Set in 1590, this is the story of Moll Thatcher, who was married by her unloving father to an abusive Threadneedle Street tailor, who dies in a fire when they burned the town due to the plague. Now a widow, Moll adopts six street children and flees to Haddon Hall where she hopes to find food.

Highland warrior Alexander Taran Mackenzie is biding his time waiting to see Queen Elizabeth who has his clan’s silver. Meanwhile, he is avoiding two women whose fathers want him to pick one as his bride. He knows he must marry for the sake of his clan but he wants neither of them. When he meets Moll, she is surreptitiously strapping a pillow under her gown to make it look like she is with child. As he watches, she herds several small children to the castle gates to beg food. Taran intervenes to gain her access and decides to become her protector, telling everyone she is his lover and the street children are his own.

As always Caine delivers great writing with good descriptions and enough history (Queen Elizabeth makes an appearance) to give her story a feel of authenticity. Taran and Moll are worthy characters and this is a thoroughly enjoyable tale.

Not clean

I am very disappointed. The story started great with danger, plague, desperation, intrigue and romance then the last couple chapters just became raunchy. Sad.

Heather House: The Witch of Threadneedle by Carmen Caine is an exciting and intriguing Historical romance. Book 2 in this amazing and entertaining series, it can be read as a stand alone.
Well written and well crafted story of danger, intrigue, mystery and Romance. The characters are charming, engaging and realistic. The storyline was absolutely delightful with twists and turns, six adorable orphaned children and plenty of trouble for Taran Mackenzie, a highlaner known as a lone wolf until he comes face to face with a green-eyed lass, Moll Thatcher, married to an abusive Threedneedle street tailor and her six orphans, escaping from England and the black plague. She is also a Welsh Witch of the Heart.
She believes herself a widow after watching her home burn to the ground with her husband inside or was he?
Fast paced, dramatic, entertaining and compelling. A delightful romp through a castle, trouble brewing and romance. The children was absolutely brilliant. The surprises were absolutely thrilling. Highly recommended! Fans are sure to endure themselves to this mesmerizing story. I look forward to the next grand adventure with the in this exciting series.

I received an early copy to give my honest review and could not have been more excited! I love this series! After having read her Highland Heather and Hearts Scottish Romance series I was so excited to know she had started another series of this type of genre. It is the second book of the Heather House series and it is just as riveting as the first one was. This is the story of Alec Montgomery's best pal, Taran Mackenzie, from the Witch of Moor. Taran has gone out on a mission for the king, along with orders to possibly wed one of 2 ladies of the king's choosing. Normally he always follows the king's wishes but this mission turns in to be one he is struggling with all his might to try to follow. Especially after he comes to the rescue of a very intriguing maiden with six children in tow. Moll Thatcher is trying to find a safe & secure spot from the Black Death for herself along with 6 street urchins she came about in the back streets of England. Taran and Moll's destiny is set to cross whether it sees them to forever be connected or end in horror & death is the question. This is a must read and fulfilling connection to this spell bounding series that Carmen Caine has written. I look forward to more additions to this series. I give it 5 stars!

I couldn’t put this book down. It was so good. I loved Moll and Taran. They were such a great characters. So kind and loving. They just fit together so perfectly. Moll is a widow from a violent marriage and Taran has been commanded to pick a bride from two noble women. They save each other from some loveless circumstances. There is also the handful of orphans they care for. The characters are well developed. The romance is well done and slow paced. The story has action and danger and plot twists. It is an incredibly story and super enjoyable.

Healer of Hearts

Auld Bertha foretold Taran his future in the previous book and now we see how it comes about. The Black Plague, Moll rescuing six children, Taran's protective nature, a conniving lady, illness, return of a dead husband , and thwarting the King's decree make for an intriguing and entertaining read. Taran and Moll have anything but an easy time of it. Well written with ups and downs plus enough wit to make you smile. As with book #1, I highly recommend the series.

Romantic

An enjoyable romantic tale. A bit of history thrown in for interest. Enough obstacles to the couple to keep your attention with the evil other woman, almost two, although one just disappeared. The children were a nice complication that made you love the hero even more
