Ally doesn't want to have anything to do with werewolves. Kade is a werewolf who wants to do everything to Ally.
Just because Ally Rose can turn into a wolf, doesn't mean that she's happy about her status as a shape-shifting, occasionally howling, never-butt-sniffing werewolf. As a result, she has only two rules in life: 1) avoid werewolf packs at all costs and 2) stay the hell away from the man who turned her against her will. Packs are evil…violent…deadly… And the wolf who turned her is the worst of the worst.
Just because Kade Blackwood is the Alpha’s brother, doesn’t mean he can ignore a direct order — even when it’s something as mundane as packing up an old woman’s belongings and hauling them back to the pack house in Ashwood. But all of his good intentions fly out of the window the moment he steps foot in tiny Pepper, Georgia…and smells her. His mate.
He wants her. Craves her. Aches for her. But first he has to find her…before the wolf hunting Ally gets his paws on her.
Part of the "REAL MEN SHIFT" series: 1. Real Men Howl 2. Real Men Snarl 3. Real Men Growl - Coming August 2018
This follows Real Men Howl with another member of the Blackwood family finding his Mate . Yes I know that probably doesn’t sound terribly awesome or original but it’s a story that kept me happily turning the pages. Why ? Well for a start the heroine Ally is a lone wolf, determined to stay hidden and actually not really that well versed in what exactly it means to be a Werewolf. Ally is trying to stay one step ahead of a nasty piece of work but as this story begins she’s starting to think her past is catching up ! Kade might be the Alphas brother but he’s having difficulty following his latest order. Kade should be packing up his brothers latest and newest relative Tessa but his Wolf has scented his Mate and they are struggling to track her down. Well wouldn’t you know it all the time Kades been searching that allusive female was right where he was meant to be in Tessas house ! I much preferred this to the first book and that’s probably because I liked Ally a lot more. There’s a warmth to her that stops her being prickly and even though she certainly has issues Ally is wary not standoffish. Kade too stood out as even though he’s this big butch hero type I liked the time and patience he had for Ally. Again there’s cuteness overload here with a darling little pup and enough feline capers to make a grown man wince ! My only niggle is the bad guy as he really didn’t get enough page time so just didn’t feel that realistic. I do like the way this series is taking a natural progression though and will happily read more. This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
The second book in the Real Men Shift series, Real Men Snarl is a real eye-opening and exciting reads that keeps readers glued to the pages. Ally and Kade are two strong, captivating characters that pull readers into their story and refuse to let go. The relationship between these two characters has quite a few obstacles to overcome but the most difficult one, Ally wants absolutely nothing to do with werewolves is one that evokes sympathy from readers and adds quite a bit of emotional turmoil despite the sizzling and immediate attraction that Ally feels toward Kade.
The plot of this story is fast paced and flows smoothly with enthralling events that keeps readers turning the pages as it adds thrills and suspense story when Ally makes a life altering and emotional decision in order to keep herself safe from her past which also adds danger and excitement to the story.
The authors have created a well-developed and fascinating werewolf world that I will definitely be keeping up with, although I did miss the first one…it’s a good thing I can fix that, right? The story is definitely a standalone story but does involve the characters from Real Men Howl and the Blackwood Pack. I enjoyed the characters and the world immensely and I am looking forward to reading Real Men Growl which is coming in August.
I enjoyed it. Ally and Kade have a different dynamic than the first book’s couple (Lucy, Ally’s BFF and Mason, Kade’s brother), but I liked the romance, the Firsts worked and there’s enough action and danger to keep things interesting.
Now, I didn’t focus on this in my review for the first book, but the structure of the story and plot are similar to the first, so the flaws are the same. Is the villain that is just evil for evil’s sake? Yes. Is the setup for the conflict and big climactic scenes not...as strong as it could be? Probably.
That said, I can and will always forgive alot if the romance and humor hooks me and I just like Ms. Kyle and Ms. Maddix’s collaborative writing. So, if you love shifter romances and Celia Kyle’s brand of humor, you may enjoy this. I’m looking forward to the next one.
Oh my gosh I thought book one was awesome yet this one was slightly better so I have no clue what adjective to use. This author combination rocks and I hope they have plenty of stories to regale us with. This is the story of Kade who is Mason's beta as well as hi younger brother. He is sent to Pepper to bring his Alpha's Mate's grandmother Tessa to Ashwood there he scents his mate and ignore's his alpha's orders to hunt her down. He finds her but in his wolf's enthusiasm he gets hit by a car thus meeting Ally when she brings him to Tessa's house to recuperate.
Then the shenanigans begin as I both laughed and cried as Ally and Kade got together and Ally learned to trust him. So glad that Brian got what he deserved in the end. I highly recommend this series.
I voluntarily read an advance copy and have not been compensated in any way for this opinion.
Ally Rose is keeping a big secret from her bestie Lucy and her grandmother whom she is staying with in the safe little town of Pepper, Georgia....Problem now is that Lucy after mating with Alpha of the Blackwood Pack Mason, wants her grandma packed up and moved to Ashwood and the one that has to get it done is Mason's is little brother Kade. When Kade steps out of his car in the small town he is struck with a sweet fragrance he and his wolf just won't ignore and he literally forgets the old lady as he searches for the recipient of said fragrance.
Ally wants nothing to do with any wolf after what she's been through for the past 8 years running and hiding, now she might have to get her go bag and hi-tail it again....Problem is she loves the way this particular wolfman that's here to get Tessa, looks and smells, it's nothing like her ex..... Now she has blue vagi, great! LoL
Coincidence to say the least when they arrive at the Blackwood Pack and discover they have much in common with Ally Rose and not in the good way either.
If I'm going to read paranormal I just love to read my shifters. There is something about the raw energy that you get from them. Their power and need to protect also doesn't hurt in a hero either. One of my favorite paranormal authors is Celia Kyle so I was glad to enjoy this series by her and Marina Maddix.
This one is so good. I really enjoyed both Kade and Ally. He's doing his job when he finds his mate. Unfortunately, his mate comes with many challenges. The biggest is that people are tracking her. Because Kade's orders have come from his alpha he knows his first loyalty is to his mate.
Their ride or should I say run is fun to read about. I really enjoyed them and their story and I'm so glad that I read it. This is the second book in the series and like the first one, the romance/love moves fast. But we get that with shifters. They usually know right away who their partner in life is. If only real life was so easy.
I really think you'll enjoy this fast-paced well-written book. The whole series is good and I enjoyed them.
It's the next Blackwood brother's turn and he's got his hands full with a wolf who was abused by her former pack. Or...not really HER pack. Just the jerkfaces who forced her into her current situation.
By the by, that pack is messed up.
But Kade! He's not messed up. He's a little obsessive when he first scents his mate. Not in an overbearing way, though. More like, he knows she's there and he knows he needs to find her and everything else can take a back seat to that. Then he does find he rand she's wary and doesn't want much of anything to do with him.
Which has to suck for a werewolf who just found his special someone.
As for Ally, she has a lot of adjusting to do. Her past experiences with wolves and packs isn't anything like the Blackwood pack and it takes some time for her and her wolf to come to terms with that. But once she does and she starts talking, things fall into place. Not just for her, but for Lucy, too. Answers. Ally has a few and that's a good thing.
My love of all things werewolves continues with this series and I'm ALL IN for Gavin's book.
This is layers upon layers upon layers of secrets that are not meant to harm but to protect. Ally is a made shifter, not born like Kade, and her made-birth story is sad and heartbreaking. But Kade... He is the epitome of what a mate is to one who has been abused and nearly broken by the man who is supposed to be her Alpha.
~~~ “I will be your shield,” he whispered, “if you’ll let me. I’ll protect you from whatever is haunting you. I’ll protect you from everything—past, present and future. Let me.” (Kindle Location 979)
“Let me be the one who stands between you and everything you fear.” (Kindle Location 1206) ~~~
Ally is a multi-faceted character who left me wondering, “What is her deal?” Her timidity was at odds with her moments of strength, casting shadows over who I thought I had her pinned to be, what her story was. But the conflicting personalities doesn’t make her wake, not at all. She is strong to have made it this far in life without guidance, without support for her transition from human to shifter.
If you haven’t read the first book, Real Men Howl, I suggest you do but it isn’t necessary to enjoy this one. Characters from Howl make appearances in Snarl, and an important piece of the plot line ties both stories together. This is a series I can’t wait to continue reading.
What I didn't like - There were some errors that should have been caught before publication. I know Gavin will be getting a book, so I can't say I'm happy about lusting after a woman on the beach griping about how he wants to enjoy beach bunnies for an afternoon. I don't like promiscuous characters, and I really don't like shifters who know they'll have a fated mate being with anyone else. It's basically cheating. There were times I didn't think like the flow of the story and the lack of details.
What I did like - I liked the characters and story overall. Tessa needs to be my new best friend.
Overall - Pretty good shifter love story with great characters, a not great ending, and a few errors.
I had a hard time with my feelings for Ally, which affected my rating for this book. I didn't like her. I understood her misgivings, but totally judging someone on someone else's mistakes was just stupid.
I would have been able to get over it if she had just let Kade's actions speak for the type of person/wolf he was, but still that didn't make her budge or shift her opinion.
Even after meeting the rest of the pack she acted like a idiot, when she should have been confiding in them or at the very least Lucy, about her fears.
Having the rest of the gang there kept me from going below 3 stars. I loved Charlie and it was nice getting to see Lucy and Mason, plus I really liked Kade. And... finally a shifter mating story that makes a bit more sense to me than the last couple I've read.
This is Kade and Ally's story . Ally is hiding from her ex another werewolf and the one that forced the change on her . Kade was sent to get his brother's mate's grandmother when he comes across the wonderful scent of his mate . After he got hit by a car Ally's kind heart could not just leave him there so she prays she isn't insane by helping one of Brian's henchmen . I like the way that Kade shows he cares by not pushing Ally into mating with him and of course the way this author Celia Kyle writes the story will pull you in and will not let you go until the very last word !! This is well written and strongly recommended to all .
Kate's and Ally story started off with a bang..who would have thunk it Lucy's bff was a turned wolf? And Kate's mate. All always tried to avoid packs but never saw that she would belong to one of the fiercest but loyal pack ever. Made would die for her to protect his mate. He just had to earn her trust and claim his mate. But first, they had to deal with the load down guy who turned her against her will. He was a psycho. Just like his father. These two had to work together to save her and little Charlie.
Real Men Snarl provides a fated mates tale with a unique heroine. Ally had 1 previous boyfriend and he pretty much ruined her life. Without her permission, he turned her into a werewolf. Once he realized she wasn't his mate after all, he tortured her. She managed to escape and spends the next several years on the run-no pack, no real understanding of werewolves, and no one to turn to. Then Kade shows up and everything changes.
Ally doesn't know anything about fated mates (or even packs and wolves to be honest) so to say she is leery of Kade is a huge understatement. However, he knows her BFF so she is willing to take a chance. She can feel the desire between them, but her previous experience with werewolves was so horrific she feels she can't trust anyone. Kade is patient with her and I loved that about him. He can recognize the fear and confusion so he doesn't push. His love is simply there. He is willing to wait and do what is necessary to show her that her previous experience isn't the reality of wolf packs. The danger comes from Ally's ex, who isn't as willing to let her go.
Real Men Snarl is pretty short so its perfect if you want a quick fated mates story! Ally's inner turmoil will keep you interested because you will want to know what the heck happened to her to make her so terrified! The supporting characters also bring depth to a fairly short story and I appreciated that. The characters are dynamic and developed despite the brevity. Finally, Kendall Taylor is one of my favorite female narrators so I highly recommend the audio!
I got wrapped up in the romance that built up between Ally and Kade, but even more involved in the mystery of Ally's past and what had her so scared. The story is deep, lots of emotional distress and the constant wondering about the strange wolf scent. There are parts in the middle where the story drags but it gets better! Tessa is a hoot, the kind of old lady that I aspire to be. I love the steady movement of the main story and can v see where it might grow from. I would love to see what happened to Rachel and also maybe have Gavin hook up with the twin. It could happen, I'm just putting my plot projections out there, lol. It's a really well told and fully developed and well written book. You should read it too!
Book 2 in this fabulous series. Kade has found his mate but claiming her might not be easy. Getting her to trust him is going to take time. He knows something happened but shes so skittish so he goes at her pace so she will trust him enough to protect his mate. Kid gloves. Ally is one terrified wolf. She's hates what she is for good reason. Person who did this to her is a psychopath. She's always looking over her shoulder and trusts nobody. Her Bff doesn't even know. She's pushed all the pain so far so it won't touch her. Now that she scents HIM can she trust Kade to keep her safe? What's all this mate stuff he's blabbing about? Dare she hope?!
Honestly? Maybe cause I started out of order (my bad..) but I was rather bored of this book I’m sorry 🤷🏼♀️ I love books like this normally but I must not have been in the mood for it the characters just fell flat to me
It takes little more than a moment to fall into Real Men Snarl, between the humor and the sense of impending danger in Ally’s every motion this one starts off strong and never lets up. Ally is a turned wolf, and not by her choice but as a result of another man’s obsession and sense of extreme power. He is cruel beyond description and at the first successful chance she got Ally ran and has spent a nomad life since always looking over her shoulder. In Pepper, Georgia she reconnected with an old friend Lucy, and her grandmother Tessa. They gave her a sense of family once again, yet she always kept her nose to the ground, literally since Brian’s scent stank, ready to run at a second’s notice. Now Lucy has found her happy ever after with the perfect man for her and wants her grandmother to move to her new location. Ally is ready to run again because she’s catching a familiar scent around town, but her wolf isn’t so quick to scoot because there is also another tantalizing scent that Ally’s wolf wants more of.
As soon as Kade hit the small town of Pepper he scented her… his fated mate. Now he has to track her down, get Lucy’s grandmother moved back to the Blackwood Pack’s territory as quickly as possible since his Alpha and brother Mason is being scolded by his new mate, Lucy to get it done… now. But Kade is determined to find his mate before leaving town. Little did he know that she was right where he was supposed to be all along, right with Tessa. Yet finding his mate is the easy part, getting her to trust any wolf and believe in the mate bond they both feel is another situation all together.
Real Men Snarl grabbed my attention from the first page and never let me down for one moment. Ally is a wounded soul, yes, but her strength is obvious since she’s survived a forced turning. Kade is an amazing hero, he may not have all the answers right now, but his patience will pay off in the long run when Ally finally reveals all that has happened to her. When that danger arrives on their doorstep, threatening so many people he loves but especially Ally, Kade will do anything to keep his mate safe.
Quite simply, I loved this story. The authors kept the tensions strung just tight enough to be bearable with some surprises and twists along the way. I’m definitely looking forward to Gavin’s story next. If you love Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance then this story and series is one you should be checking out. Steamy moments, danger, family, humor and a touch of snark at times… you’ll be hooked very easily.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This is an OK shifter romance, but it was a bit too short to have enough character development. Quite a bit of information was provided on Ally, but I especially needed more backstory on Kade.
I really liked Ally and Kade, but thought that Kade was a little too pushy with her. He figured out that she had suffered bad experiences as a werewolf, but didn't at first take that into consideration in pushing her to accept him as her mate. He didn't know the specifics of her experience, or how bad it was -- since she wouldn't talk about it -- but he shouldn't have assumed she would not be affected by it. When he did find out the whole story, he got better, but I would have liked for him to be gentler with her at the start.
I also thought that Ally's horrible experience of becoming a werewolf, and being abused by the pack that changed her, would have made her much more reluctant to spend any time with Kade and his pack. She was reluctant, but not as much as I would expect from someone with her past trauma.
Overall, it was a quick, mildly entertaining read. It does feature instalove, but that is typical in shifter romances. If you are looking for a quick shifter read, with some steamy scenes, this is a good choice.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Brilliant second book of the series Ally has spent the last eight years looking over her shoulder as she was turned to a wolf against her will and then beaten and abused until she eventually escaped but the wolf that turned her is still looking for her. Kade is sent to help move Lucy’s grandmother to the pack house with Lucy except he sniffs a scent that has his wolf roaring in his head and he goes looking for the owner of the scent. Ally can scent a new wolf in town and keeps her distance she lives with Lucy’s grandmother but was going to stay at the house however turn of events has her thinking twice the wolf from her past has also turned up. Kade goes to the grandmothers after he is hit by a car dragged to safety by Lucy and to the house where she is stealing she decides to go with them to Lucy. Ally is Kade’s mate but she won’t acknowledge it. Now back at the pack house Ally thought she would be safe except she wasn’t he’s found her again and he kidnapped one of the little boys Charlie and ties him to a tree has injected him with some poison that makes them crazy. Ally recognises this tells then what they need to help Charlie then it all comes out what has happened and been done to her Kade is beside himself with anger but has a mate to attend to. Next day pack goes to follow up where they found Charlie and see where trails lead and Ally is back at the pack house visiting Charlie.. Kade gets a strange feeling and is told by Mason what it is Kade knows Ally is in trouble runs off to help her. This book is a brilliant read thoroughly enjoyed it
Ally was changed against her will into a werewolf now she is living in hiding from the evil alpha who claims she is his mate. She has left behind all her family and most of her friends. She wants nothing to do with werewolves. She is living in a small town working as a dog walker until one day she smells two werewolves. One scent she is strongly drawn too but the other could be the alpha she has been hiding from. She runs home planning to escape never realizing she is being followed by a wolf. Kade is second in his pack and the alpha has given him the job of helping the alpha's mate's grandmother packed up and moved to their pack. The minute Kade hits town, he scents another werewolf and to his surprise the werewolf is his mate. He spends a week searching for his mate . but has no luck until he lets her wolf sniff her out. He is so intent on tracking her that he is hit by a car and injured. Ally hears the accident and ends up bring Kade home to take care of him even though she really is scared of want he wants. She doesn't believe Kade when he says she is his mate. She is still planning on running and hiding until the wolf who changed her makes it clear is knows where she is and is coming for her. Ally decides to go along with Kade as an easy way to escape without a trace. However her time with Kade's pack teaches her that not all werewolves are mean and evil. Maybe being Kade's mate won't be so bad. This is a great book. I really loved how strong Ally was. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
A put upon Beta meets his abused, loan wolf mate and has to convince her she is safe with him
Real Men Snarl, picks up from Real Men Howl leaves off. Kade is sent to pack up Lucy's grandma and gets side tracked by the sent of his mate. She elusive, a week of hunting has yielded only a pony tail holder. Lucy is getting inpatient, so Mason is impatient, so Kade decides to risk a shift and let his wolf find their mate, and find her he does, which results in car vs wolf accident.
Ally has spent the last, almost decade looking over her shoulder and ready to run at a moments notice. Running into Lucy and being taken in my Grandma Tess have given her a a place to call home and a family again. Lucy found a man on her trip home and is not coming back. Grandma Tess is going to join them, leaving Ally adrift, thought she knows she is more than welcome to come to. She is reluctant to leave the small town she is hiding in.
A strange wolf's sent has caught her wolfs attention. Ally wants to run from it and her wolf wants to run towards it. Then that wolf gets hit by are car right in front of her. He says he is her mate. While she doesn't believe that, the sent of the past sends her to the Blackwood pack in fear. The Blackwood pack is nothing like the Riverson Pack. Kade is nothing like Brian, who also tried to claim her as mate.
Fast paced and a little steamy. Loved Kade and Ally. The remnants of the Riverson Pack aren't done causing trouble for the Blackwood pack.
