Reclaiming Your Identity: Embrace Who God Created You to Be

Rate this book
Who am I, and what am I here for? Our lives depend on how we answer that question. It will affect everything from our career choices to the way we relate to God and others. But where can we turn to find the answer? Our friends? Our job title? Our relationship status? Many of us base our identity off what we do or the number of likes we get on a post. We constantly perform for other peoples approval, and then we wonder why we feel so exhausted and insecure. But whats the alternative? What if we allowed the One who created us to answer the question for us? Eric Wayman, a pastor, professor, and disciple, invites us to pull away the masks we have been hiding behind and allow God to show us who we are and what he made us to do. Its time to get real.

Pivitol Read

Eric Wayman has the perfect title for his book. As a Christian, we need to reclaim our identity in Christ. Many times, especially the longer we are a part of the faith, we tend to forget who we are and where we come from.

I love the journey described in this book, essentially from the garden to glory. Each step of the way we discover how easy it is to experience amnesia when it comes to our true identity.

The book describes sections that deal with identity snatchers such as being a performer on the stage (The hypocrite that puts on a mask), being a social chamelian, and the deep longing for the approval of our father’s love.

The author does a great job of integrating his own struggles and learning how to align them more with a biblical theological view. The reality is that everyone struggles to some degree with their identity. We long to understand who we are and the level of value we each possess in this life.

In short; this is a ”musr read” and a book that you will return to in the midst of your own, or those you know, who struggle with their identity. Highly recommend.

Amazing book!

I found this to be very informing and enlightening . As easy to read as it is to listen to Pastor Eric's sermons. He makes scripture come to life. I would recommend it to believers and nonbelievers as well.
