Jeremy loved to surf at night, just him and the waves. Tonight someone was pulling him under, and no one to help him. NCIS Special Agent Maia fell in love with the island, now the waters have a serial killer. Now needing help, Kaiko a surf instructor, would he help her. He had the local connections she needed. With this case, looking at the body, things didn’t seem right. The case will put her in danger before it is solve. Good mystery plot.

This implausible plot that drags itself along in clichéd dialogue has pretensions of being a thriller? The irresponsible "agent" doesn't so much investigate as stumble into information in the face of (ho hum) antagonism at work. The romance element is predictable: hopeful, successful, misunderstandings, second thoughts... you've read it all before. I've read other Anne Baines books that, while not brilliant literature, were readable entertainment. This one is just silly. But hey, if this could find a publisher, no aspiring author should give up hope.
