Death on the Coast:

Can DCI Dan Hellier decipher the twisted mind behind the ritualised burning of homeless men on Devon’s beaches before more people are sacrificed?
When images from the burning appear all over social media, Hellier realises that he is dealing with a cult and a mystery that will lead back to the Irish Troubles.

Hellier will battle a bitter man who has plotted revenge for more than twenty years, without a care for the lives he will destroy.

Compulsive reading!

Read all three in one "sitting". Wow!!! Couldn't put it down. Read these books late into the night, just to see how they ended. Fast paced action more or less from the start to finish. Brilliant reading, for me at least.

Great read

I’ve just finished the third book in this series, and have to say that I’m hoping there’ll be more. The books are not overlong and well written, it’s only taken two days to read all three. The characters are believable (although I don’t know enough about MI5 to comment on their involvement) so are the storylines.

Wow

What a trio of books, each can standalone in their own right but I'm so glad I read them like this. The detailing, the atmospheric writing combined with the characters that progressed develop nicely, all wrapped up in a book. Three of them, equally as intriguing and emotional as each other. The author has a new fan

Wow!

For years I have read Georgian Mr Darcy romance and then this appeared on Facebook. To say I couldn't put it down wouldn't do it justice. It could have changed the way I read. I loved all three books and will be looking for more from this author.

A different type of murder mystery

A good read, the plot is different than the normal murder story. The personal life of the main character is quite complex, but the plot moves along at a good pace with a dramatic finish, look forward to reading the 3rd book in this series.

Another good series.

Another good author who has the knack of drawing you into the personal lives of the main characters as well as the crimes going on around them.
DI Dan Hellier comes back to the West Country after an incident whilst in the Met. He has to learn to fit in with a new team and find his feet. Each of these books test his skills and that of his team around him.
A worthwhile set of books that will hold your interest throughout and have you rooting for them in work and personally.

a good and quite realistic series

I liked the human quality of the characters and the straight forward stories. Read all three quickly in a row. Found myself wanting more. The characters should develop nicely.

Good plots

A good storyline which was entertaining. A few spelling mistakes and typing errors. Nice reading about an area I’m familiar with.

The past is where it should be left

The stories ring true and bring home the fact how hate can fuel and destroy all both young and old

Disappointing

Not a well researched book, too many discrepancies which could not be out down to artistic licence i.e. Royal Marines wear green berets and not blue. Characters not believable.

Depending on which volume, this is a 3.5 - 4 star set. The first two had some longeurs. But they are a solidly written Brit procedural. Death on the coast the author is hitting her stride, and worth reading. I could do with a bit less inner life of the detective but these days that's expected.
