Cooper Grant is not my type. Yes, he’s drool-worthy, with that glint in his blue eyes and the jaw-dropping way he fills out his jeans. Yes, other women might fall all over themselves for a glimpse of his slow, crooked smile. I’m not other women.

He hates me. And the feeling is mutual.

In a town as small as ours, it’s pretty hard to avoid him...and it’s completely impossible once I wake up in a hospital bed to find Cooper pacing the floor of my room.

He’s rumpled. He’s frantic. And he’s swearing I’m his fiancee.

What the hell?

I hate him, but he saved my life. So when he asks me to lie and pretend we’re engaged, I have no choice but to play along. One moment we’re fighting like usual, the next moment he’s kissing me and slipping a gorgeous ring onto my finger. It’s enough to give me whiplash… again.

And maybe it’s the bump on my head, but it’s getting pretty easy to pretend I’m in love with him.

Now, instead of avoiding him, I’m surrendering to his crushing kisses. Our fiery hatred for each other isn’t nearly as hot as the nights we spend entwined.
The engagement is fake. The love is pretend.

But the way I ache for him is real.

And now I want to know… Can your worst enemy be your best lover?

Theresa Leigh is a romance author whose love of reading is so intense, she sometimes injures herself by walking around with her nose in a book. She loves writing stories that have you feeling every emotion... sometimes all on the same page.

Theresa lives and writes in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State (not the city) (that distinction is important to her), where she lives with her twin sons and twin orange cats, Pumpkin and Jackie O’Lantern. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys eating too much Thai food, walking around barefoot, and cooing baby talk at her cats.

got this as freebie and, though it had potential and the writing was good in some ways, I strongly strongly disliked it. I didn't feel the chemistry between Cooper and Willa and it didn't seem like they really talked enough to fall in love. plus, Cooper never stopped believing that Willa had cheated in the past which made it hard to believe he loved her.

both Cooper and Liam treated Willa terribly and they basically just got a pass. the 'secret' of what happened in the past, where there was more to the story than Cooper knew, was completely predictable (which is fine, but then don't build it up like it's going to be a surprise). all Liam had to do was tell Cooper that he had misinterpreted the situation in the past, but he didn't even try to do that.

Cooper has hated Willa ever since he found her cheating on his best friend Liam and he can't understand how Liam can remain her best friend. Since then everything she does irritates him, the way she nags Liam, the way she mothers all their friends, the way she crushes all the joy out of everything. Then on Liam's last night before he leaves for New York, he gets stupid drunk and Cooper and Willa have another argument at a party, Cooper was supposed to give Willa and Liam a life home but she storms off into the woods and he thinks good riddance. But when Liam makes Cooper promise to look after Willa and make sure she gets home safely he's moved by his conscience to go and find her and give her a lift home - instead he finds her lying by the side of the road having been hit by a car. Wracked by guilt, when the ambulance crew refuse to allow him to accompany her in the ambulance he tells one small lie and says they are engaged. Only trouble is, it's a small town and soon everyone knows.

Now Cooper and Willa are living a lie to all their friends, family and the media, who love the idea of a young man saving his fiancee's life, but forced to act a part it doesn't seem as difficult as they might have thought.

This is stock YA/NA romance, complete with a teenage boy who is a skilled and thoughtful lover, parental angst and small town gossip. The reason for Liam and Willa's break-up is blindingly obvious to anyone who has read NA/YA. It's not bad, the writing is good, the characters are likeable but it's nothing new or different.

I'm on the fence with this one. I usually love this author, but this one didn't do it for me. I didn't like Cooper and Willa together. Cooper couldn't let go of the past (that really didn't have anything to do with him), until pretty much the main end of the story. Even then, he had to have someone else verify that for him. He couldn't trust Willa enough to take her word. Willa was bossy, but I guess that's to be expected when you pretty much raise your brother when you're 14. I couldn't imagine a mom putting a child in that situation. Don't even get me started on Liam. How could you let your "best friend" take the fall for you for YEARS, and never try to make it right?! It took someone else pointing it out to him before he even tries to apologize for it. I liked the other stories in the Crown Creek universe (the King brothers), this one wasn't for me.

This is a prime example of false advertising. Instead of an enemies to lovers story you get an isnta love one.

Willa and Liam are best friends and Liam and Cooper are best friends, but Cooper and Willa have been the polar opposite of BFFs since he saw her out with another guy while she was still Liam’s girlfriend in high school. Yeah, Liam has told Cooper he doesn’t know the whole story, but Cooper knows what he saw, although it may be colored by his father's serial infidelity. Everything Cooper knows and believes about Willa is challenged one rainy night after Liam's going away party. Cooper promises a drunk Liam he'll make sure Willa gets home safely, but when he goes back to find Willa he discovers her unconscious and injured on the side of the road. Desperate to see her taken care of, he claims to be her fiancé so he can stay with her in the ambulance, and things snowball out of control from there. But time away from their routine, everyday life has them both viewing the other in a different light.

I’ve read several books published by this author under her pen name, Vivian Lux, so I was eager to get my hand’s on an early copy of this book. She’s quickly gained a permanent place on my Must Read list with her compelling storylines, beautifully flawed, complex characters and the deep emotion her stories evoke. This book is no different, but has the added interest of an enemies to lovers trope that made for some really entertaining, enticing reading. I adored Willa, with her strength of character, loyalty and compassion. A part of me wanted to dislike Cooper, but it was clear there was a lot more to him than was evident at first glance. They both had a few life lessons in store, complicated by loyalty and confidential promises, and I loved the way the author tackled the issues and resolved the conflict. If you're looking for a captivating romance with a little steam, a little humor and plenty of emotion and characters you can’t help but love, run to the 1-Click and grab Last Good Man today.

Willa and Cooper have been enemies for a long time and they don’t see it stopping any time soon. But, then there’s an accident and Cooper is the one who saves the day. What starts off as a fake engagement stirs up very real feelings for these two. But, there’s a huge secret that could tear them apart. Last Good Man is emotional, steamy, and full of twists. I got to the end and wanted more Willa and Cooper! I received a copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

This was a great read! The secrets, twists and turns had me on an emotional roller coaster that I'm still on. An accident, a fake engagement and more had me turning pages not wanting it to end. I had to pay attention to keep up with it all. Willa, Liam and Cooper three people/friends whose lives are entwined. Willa and Cooper had me swooning from their first kiss! I just could not get enough!!!

Does it sound harsh to call this book a good palate cleanser? It was fun. I enjoyed myself reading it and although I had grumbles I never wanted to DNF. But I also wouldn't place it on my favourites list or anything. It just helped me move on from a really good book and prepare me for the next one. It cleansed my palate.

I wasn't sure what to expect from the summary. I questioned if we were gonna have an amnesia situation. It a fake relationship or what. I enjoyed what I did get though. Cooper and Willa were great characters and seeing them together moving from hate to something more was great. I had hoped to have more of them being friends before they announced their undying love but honestly I e joyed the chemistry between them and the sex was hot. That's always a plus for romance.

I may not feel like this book is going to stay with me forever but who doesn't want an enjoyable read to prepare them for their next read?

Something was off with this story for me. The author tried too hard to get random storylines to mesh into one cohesive novel. And there is NO WAY Willa was up for any kind of extra-curricular activities so soon after her accident...especially with broken ribs!! And, did I miss it or did that never get resolved??

Willa Harlow and Cooper Grant are enemies and hate each other but share a best friend, Liam Mulligan. When Liam makes Cooper promise to make sure Willa gets home safe from his going away party, Cooper is irritated but a promise is a promise. And that's how Cooper ends up finding Willa on the side of the road, the victim of a hit and run. When Cooper sees Willa asleep in the hospital, he wonders had she always been this beautiful and he was only just now noticing? When Willa wakes up in hospital with Cooper watching over her, upon closer inspection she realises he's f****** handsome. After Will discharges herself from hospital early and goes home, Liam makes Cooper promise to take Willa to Liam's family cabin in the mountain and take care of her. Liam then makes Willa promise to go with Cooper and to listen to him. When Willa and Cooper get into an argument in the cabin, Willa says "I know you don't like me, Cooper." Cooper then tells Willa "I don't hate you. I thought I did. But I don't think I knew you well enough. And I'd like to, Willa." Willa tells Cooper “I want to know you too, Cooper. I thought I did, but now I’m not so sure.” Willa and Cooper get to really know each other and start falling for each other but what happens when they have to go back to real life?

I enjoyed reading Last Good Man. I do have to admit I was a bit confused at the beginning trying to figure things out. As the book developed everything made sense.

Willa and Liam are best friends. Cooper and Liam are best friends but Cooper and Willa can't stand each other.
The book starts off with a going away party for Liam. Liam is wasted but makes Cooper promise Jim that he will make sure Willa makes it home safe. Cooper drives back to find Willa on the side of the road. She was a victim of a hit and run.

As the story develops Cooper and Willa start having feelings for each other but there is so much history that they can't get past that. Cooper still believes that Willa cheated on Liam. Which that is a secret that we learn as the story goes on.

Willa's character is amazing, she is loving and truthful. She makes sure everyone is taken care of. Her little brother is her world .

Cooper is the best friend anyone would love to have. He took care of someone he didn't trust just to not break a promise to his best friend. All he wanted was the truth.

My favorite part of this book was the connection that I felt when Theresa Leigh brought up the characters and town from her other books that are under her pen name Vivian Lux.

Great Read. I would recommend it so you can find out about the secret Willa and Liam hold.

A cute little hate-to-love story. It’s well written, nicely paced but nothing special as far as romance books go. The characters are sweet and likeable, when you get to know them. Cooper isn’t nearly as bad as he seems at the start, and therein lays the main issue of the book; perception. Trust also plays a large part in the issues the unlikely couple have. In the end, it all comes down to how well you know a person and how your own issues can impact your perception. Everyone has issues and Cooper will have to work through a few of his if he wants a chance at a future with the enemy.

I liked that the book tackled some realistic issues. I liked that the pair fight against their attraction because of their history. The main reason for the rating though, is that it’s just an average read and the main issue between them was a little ridiculous. Yes, we all hate cheaters. But most people make mistakes and it’s weird how hard Cooper clings to his hatred when Liam was so forgiving. Even knowing why he clings to his hatred didn’t really make up for anything in my opinion. It was a lot of drama for very little reason. The ending was a little ridiculous too. Almost too easy. I guess I just like stories with a little more ‘bite’ to them. Still, it’s a nice read with nicely written characters. Happy reading.

This gave me all the feels! Willa and Cooper were always the two people amongst a group of friends that shared a mutual dislike for one another, but put up with each other for the sake of their mutual friend Liam. So when Liam decides to leave town and asks Cooper to check on Willa, things take strange turn when he finds her in a precarious position and the only way to make sure she gets the help she needs is for him to pretend he is her fiance. That is definitely the last thing Willa expects to hear when she wakes up.

From here, they must work through old hurts and misunderstandings and well as the preconceived notions that they had for one another. Their sexual chemistry is bubbling along even when they didn't like each other. However when they share their first kiss.. Swoon! I just loved these two, the fact that all their friends agreed as they are generally the best judge of character. Loved every minute. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Another romance out of Crown Creek and this time its Cooper and Willa in a compelling hearts bursting at the seams- hot-hate to love you affair!
Cooper and Willa had one thing in common their commitment to Liam- when Cooper feels Willa has broken that, he has nothing but disdain for the women. No matter how much Liam tells him things are not as they seem.
Until the night things came crashing down around all three of them.
Secrets, lies, guilt, trust, and something new boils to the surface putting two people who aren't fond of each other together having to make the best of it...
Woo! I am all about Willa and Cooper! In fact, I love all the Crown Creek books! Each stand-alone has been such a compelling heartwrenching crazy train of feels! I love the uniqueness of each storyline, the dark tinge to the drama, sizzling heat, empowering women. Men ( and women) who eventually get their crap together mixed with humor and plenty of heart- making for a series that has me wanting more!
If you have not read this one or the others, I highly recommend checking them out!

What an amazing story!!!

Two people who by all appearances hate each other are brought together due to an accident. The two of them start to realizes that they might not know each other as well as they thought they did. However things in their past keeps them from moving on.

I felt so bad for Willa. She was the most selfless person I have ever met. The things she would do for others amazes me. I wish we could all be more like her. The part the breaks my heart the most is the fact that she is in her early 20's and because of certain circumstances she basically is a mom to her brother. This is a responsibility that she didn't ask for but does anyways.

I liked Cooper. I will admit there were times I wanted to throat punch him but I did like him. He was a genuinely good guy, misguided but good. He has morals and when he says he will do something, he does.

I really enjoyed this book.

Here is the story of Cooper and Willa. The thing is, Cooper and Willa HATTTTEEE each other. They have their reasons, but their arguments are downright hilarious. They love poking and prodding each other. But Cooper takes it to the extreme with his jabs, because of what he saw happen long ago that affected his best friend, Liam, who is also Willa's best friend. They share that best friend, and Cooper doesn't like it.

This story takes a turn, and Cooper isn't the a**hole he shows himself to be, because of a promise he made with Liam to watch out for Willa. The hospital scene, when the fiance' debacle happened was HILARIOUS. These two just rile each other up so much, it was entertaining watching them be nice to each for the first few days.

Their walls with each other starts to crumble and it was really sweet to see a friendship/attraction/love forming.

I loved this book, no complaints from me.

Very much enjoyed this read.

Willa and cooper are best friends with Liam and we’re introduced to them at a leaving party as Liam is moving to New York. Cooper hates Willa as he believes she cheated on Liam a few years before. At the party cooper takes Liam home as he’s smashed and Willa refuses a lift, after Liam makes cooper promise to make sure she’s ok he goes looking for her. He finds her on the side of the road after being hit by a car. To be allowed to ride with her in the ambulance he says she’s his fiancée. As the story progresses cooper realises he’s misjudged her. It can’t get out of his head she cheated on his best friend. When we discover what actually happened cooper is wracked with guilt.

Even though it was easy to tell what the secret was it still felt like a revelation. It was a nice easy read and I loved willas character, how she was so caring toward her friends but cooper wanted to be the one to look after her while she looked after everyone else.

Omg I cried like a baby....I loved Will and Cooper so much and omg it was a roller coaster ride for sure. It wasn’t easy for Willa and Cooper because Cooper thought what he knew was right and he had it all wrong.

Willa is so selfless and caring and a spitfire and oh so protective and she has no problem showing just how much she cares and she goes above and beyond as a daughter, a sister and a friend. She’s incredibly loyal to Liam and it’s amazing how she’s held up her resilience to the judgment placed on her.

I was emotionally invested since page one and I don’t know how I’m going to get over all the emotions I’m feeling because Cooper and Willa really gave me all the feels.

Disclaimer I received an arc copy for an honest and voluntary review.

To say this was a Rollercoaster would be putting it mildly. Liam had two best friends, Cooper and Willa. The only problem was they hated each other. Although they knew each other their whole lives, turns out they didn't know each other at all. With secrets hiding the truth how can they trust each other. It takes a promise to Liam to make Cooper see that the Willa he thought he knew is actually a selfless, loving woman that would do anything for those she loved. She's always had to be so responsible, she doesn't realize she's so young and shouldn't have to carry the weight of the world. Cooper has his own weight to carry and together maybe they can be the balance they both need. I love these characters and can't wait for more

What started out as a fake engagement, then morphed into an unexpected relationship between Willa and Cooper took me on a crazy ride! Talk about hate to love! I enjoyed this story so much more than I thought I would. The angst level was mild and mainly due to Cooper’s inability to move forward, but he did grovel well. There were a few holes in the storyline, but easily overlooked with the goose chase Willa and Cooper took me on. The bonus epilogue was also a nice wrap up for now these two.

I got a copy of this book in another author’s email and am happy to have taken a peek! Theresa Leigh is a new author for me and one I was happy to discover. The Crown Creek characters sound like my cuppa and there looks to be a few books to explore:)

This was a sweet story with great characters and a solid look at small town living. I really love Conner's character. He was real and fallible but owned up to his mistakes and grew from the bad experiences in his life. I really understood Willa though. Her martyr behavior was more that being a martyr, it was about independence and not making people think she wanted something from them other than friendship. She was a nurturer to the extreme.

The only thing that I did not think was well thought out was the fact that the two main characters in the story were the most poor, had no jobs but always seemed to have money. I also thing the story would have been a bit more well rounded to find out how Liam and Willa became friends in the first place.

I absolutely loved this book from Theresa Leigh! Cooper and Willa have such a love/hate relationship until one little lie has them seeing each other in such a different light. I loved the dynamic between these two from beginning to end! Willa is a character that always worries about those around her before herself, but when she needs to think of herself first it's Cooper that will be there to see that she does. Their journey is one that had me laughing, cheering, yelling at them both and frustrated with those in their lives due to how they impacted both of them. Cooper and Willa are enemies, but have Liam in common. When Willa is injured in a hit and run, Cooper says she is his fiancée in order to go to the hospital with her. Will their relationship move on from hate / love? No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written story, which is filled with drama, secrets, lies, guilt, and love, and this all leads to a heart-warming, gritty, and steamy page turner, which had me captivated throughout. I look forward to reading more of this authors’ work, and highly recommend her work for all readers!

**I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** 3.5 stars. Not to sure how I feel about this story. Absolutely loved the others in this series about the King Brothers but this one sticks out like a sore thumb. Cooper & Willa didn't seem to fit as well as they could have. They start off hating each other with a passion yet somehow guilt starts changing their minds about each other along with a fake engagement. Cooper has a huge chip on his shoulder bc of his father's cheating ways which interferes with his trusting anyone. Willa is strong headed too much as well & her keeping of Liam's secret was unbelievable. A little too much going on but still an ok read.
