Our love breaks all the rules.

I see her as the mistress of time management.
I see her as the queen of organization, her sharp mind and insight are priceless to me.
I see her as a warrior, her sword flashing bright when she steps up to defend me.
I see her in my bed, letting me show her all the things a woman like her deserves to experience.

The problem is, Daphne Adams doesn’t see me at all.

There’s so much on the line, I can’t lose her. She’s the one thing I have to have to get through the day.

But I want to risk it all.

I see the cowboy boots and expensive suits.
I see the way his lips quirk up on the right side when he’s amused, but hiding it.
I see the best man I’ve ever known, with a heart like no other.
I see him every day, and just being near him makes every day the best day of my life.

The problem is, Morgan Lightner is my boss.

If we get personal, the price is the job I’ve been looking for my whole life. Besides, he doesn’t see me that way.

But I wish he did.

Can we find a way to have it all together?

I absolutely loved Daphne and Morgan and their strong connection within this office romance. Daphne truly completes Morgan in the office and in their personal life. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

I never know when I sit down to write exactly who I am going to meet. I'm what they call a "planner" and a "pantser", as in, like the heroine of Roped, I make lists. My lists have lists of things that need to be listed. But then I start meeting the people I am writing about, and my planning becomes pantsing, as in flying by the seat of.

I like that. It keeps it interesting when the character says or does something I didn't see coming, and I stop and look at the page and go, "Really?" and the character goes "Yep," and twirls their proverbial finger for me to get on with it.

I met Morgan Lightner for the first time in Delicious, and as another reviewer has said, he was only a frustrated voice on the phone trying to get James Draven back to work after nearly a year of hiding in his Swiss chalet because of the scars on his face from a car accident. I found out he was a cowboy in All the Colors of My Heart when James, now very much out of hiding, visits his best friend Max Alexander and is talking about how the first thing he is going to do when he returns to work is give Morgan a much deserved vacation.

I have to admit, I made a "squeeing" sound of joy to know that I had a cowboy romance in my future. I love cowboys just as much as I do romance, so it was something I was very much looking forward to writing.

The first question I had to ask myself, is the same question I always have to ask when writing Chimera, "What is Thomas Meenan going to do?" For the fans of Chimera, you know what I mean, because Meenan is always a supporting character in Chimera, often seeming to play the role of Cupid for the couples in these books. But he is so much more than that, and we learn more and more every time we get the chance to see him in action. Understanding his role in each love story helps to build the framework for what the leading characters will be and do together, as well as contributing to the overall arc of mystery and suspense that serves as a backdrop for all the Chimera Club Stories.

Every couple, and every story in Chimera is unique. Daphne and Morgan perhaps even more so than usual. They are both deep thinkers, both incredibly intelligent and drawn to each other from the moment they meet. They are passionate people who enjoy each other as friends and co-workers. Both of them know that they need each other, but their brains keep trying to apply logic in matters where the heart should lead. Taking the journey with them, seeing them open up to each other and themselves was incredible to watch.

Roped, as the tagline says, breaks all the rules. Not just the rules Daphne and Morgan are afraid to cross, it also breaks out and offers us a different kind of H and h, people who aren't trying to figure out if they are in love, but rather how to handle the feeling and not lose each other in the process.

Roped is different because we get a little taste of the paranormal, and maybe most of all, Roped is different because we get to see the h use a red scarf in some very steamy ways on the H in a scene that I absolutely loved writing because that kind of play between lovers was new for me as a writer.

I work to make sure that Cybill Cain books are original, fun, sexy and intriguing and it is my sincere hope that you will always find them to be so. My goal is always to give you a serious case of "the feels" with every story. Feel the love, feel the steamy, feel the mystery, and then wanting to feel it all over again.

If you' re looking for a steamy office romance, with cowboy yummy and a dash of mysticism, get Roped by Cybill Cain.

Daphne Adams may just be my all time favorite heroine. She’s ridiculously intelligent, with a brain that works continuously, processing data and information in the background. She’s also a woman with strong passions and convictions who has no problem speaking her mind. She can either be your fiercest champion our your worst adversary. All of this makes her the perfect assistant to Morgan Lightner when he steps in as the head of DIH after James Draven goes into seclusion following a terrible automobile accident. Not surprisingly, Morgan quickly sees how valuable Daphne is, both in the office and in his personal life.

I’m a huge fan of this series, eagerly anticipating each new release, and I jumped at the chance to read an early copy of Roped, as well as preordering my own copy as soon as it was available, and weeks before the release date. I tell you all this to not only show my enthusiasm for the Chimera Club series, but to demonstrate the faith I have in this author and her ability to produce a masterful work that touches the heart and stirs the soul. She has set her own bar quite high and yet still manages to surpass her previous benchmarks with Roped.

There are so many wonderful elements to this novel. From profound, poetic prose like, “To be seen is the rarest and most intimate of things that can pass between two people,” and “life happens in between the big moments we can’t control,” to a physical, emotional and spiritual connection between two people that transcends any earthly experience, Daphne and Morgan’s story will leave its mark on your soul. They have the indefinable “it" we all strive to find with another human being, to find the one person you’ve been waiting for your whole life, that one whose soul joins with yours in a bond that outlasts any physical existence.

We also get a bit more insight into Thomas Meenan, Draven's right hand man. It’s a good thing I have a soft spot in my heart for Meenan because seeing him through Daphne's eyes was enlightening. She’s absolutely right that he’s a master manipulator, devious, underhanded, and will do just about anything to accomplish his purpose. If you’ve read any of the series, you've seen the lengths he'll go to, and if you’ve read enough of the books, you understand what drives him. We get a small bit of information regarding the mysterious, nefarious Constantine, but Morgan and Daphne's connection hints to all this being part of a much greater picture, having a new puzzle piece introduced by way of an ancient prophecy passed down in Morgan's family.

There are still some questions at the end of this book, as there have been with all the books in the series, but Daphne and Morgan's relationship and happily ever after are firmly cemented and beautifully resolved, especially with an epilogue nearly a year later. I loved both of their characters and delighted in their love story, and I get the distinct impression we'll be seeing a good bit more from them in the future, which I’m eager to see. I gleefully anticipate more crackling exchanges between Daphne and Meenan, and I can’t wait to see how all the pieces of the puzzle we’ve been collecting along the way fit together. One thing about Cybill Cane – she gives you a story with an amazing amount of heart and emotion and puts a beautiful bow on an immensely satisfying love story, but dangles enough threads that you’re dying to pull, leaving you eagerly anticipating and desperately wanting more. If you haven’t read her work, you’re really missing out because this is one of the best series in romance writing today. So start with Roped, or any other book in the series, but start it today. This is some phenomenal, beautiful writing by a truly gifted wordsmith that you don’t want to miss.

This is full-length Cybill Cain novel in her Chimera Club series. The book is the story of Daphne and Morgan. We met Morgan briefly in Delicious (he was the voice on the phone wanting James Draven to come back to his company and leave Switzerland). But we didn't know him, not the way you'll know him when you read this book. And we'd never met Daphne before, and once you're about half way through you'll feel like you've known her almost all your life. She's a strong woman with love that runs deep, a woman that Morgan depends on and already loves from Page 1 on. The most appealing books to me have always been when a strong woman meets an equally strong man on equal terms. That is this book hands down.

This is a continuation of James Draven's story, but at the same time it isn't. You'll see other Chimera characters in this book (Stacey for one, and I DARE you not to laugh as he's explaining about the walking taco), but it isn't necessary to read the previous books to enjoy this one. And as an added treat, at least it was for me, this book brushed up against paranormal which added a twist that I wasn't expecting.

Cybill Cain is a genius at world-building. Because that's what this series of books has become. It is a fascinating series about strong men and women who love hard, play hard, and tell a story you're going to want to read more than once. And lest you think the story isn't steamy, oh my hot god, no worries there. Between cowboy hats, western shirts, cabins, and red silk scarves, you'll have no problem enjoying the steam.

Would I recommend the book? Oh yeah. Cybill Cain understands that the fantasy of the fiction must be tempered with the reality of the human characters. In doing so she paints her characters with multi-colored emotions and wraps them in strength, love, and romance. She truly does put the romance back into Contemporary Romance. 5 stars with tails!

This author does a fantastic job writing a strong, resourceful, independent woman. Daphne has her emotional moments as she is human but the author never lets her dissolve into a hot mess and loses any of her drive or determination just because a man comes into the picture. Daphne is not afraid to speak her mind or do things outside the box. Once you have her in your corner she will take on any dragon big or small to protect what’s hers.

Morgan is a smart man that knows how to appreciate a strong, independent woman. He’s not afraid when she challenges him, in fact he revels when she pushes him to see things from a different perspective. He has a strong protective instinct and while he knows that Daphne is capable of defending herself he too is not above some saber rattling to let others know she is his and he will defend to the end for her.

Due to their boss and employee type situation they have been both very careful not to cross that barrier, however it has not stopped their growing attraction to each other. When they finally take that step and decide to let their feelings out things take off to a rocky but steamy start.

Besides physical there are many emotional and poignant connections made between many of the characters. Thomas Meenan does have a hidden soft center and it takes a strong woman like Daphne to have it peak out. Thomas may have met his match with Daphne as she can see through most of his mechanisms. She may allow him a bit of leeway as long as he doesn’t mess too much with those she holds dear.

The author also does a great job of giving enough back-story to keep those that have not followed this storyline closely on track. There are many threads to this tapestry and part of you wants to pull them quickly to see how they play out, but like any great masterpiece you have to be patient to see the final big picture.

Every rare once in a while, a book comes along that reminds me of the great emotional heights that literature can achieve. This romance is amazingly adept at peering into the souls of not just its characters but its readers, too. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series (yet) so I can assure you that this book works beautifully as a standalone, but after enjoying the complete immersion experience that this book brought, I’m looking forward to reading the others as soon as I can.

Morgan and Daphne work so well together as Boss/PA that neither of them dares to risk that relationship in favor of a more personal one. Then a personal crisis strips away their hesitation, and their love story from that point on is the stuff of legends. But there’s so much more to this story than just boy-meets-girl – there’s a lot of ground to cover in getting to know the hidden depths of each other, and the story brings us full circle back to James and Thomas and the ongoing drama outside of the book’s main romance.

I loved the Wyoming scenes and getting to know Ellie and Sam. Morgan and Daphne’s trip to the cave and then the cabin was exactly what they needed to cement their relationship. These two don’t just click on a romantic level; they are fused together at the cellular level and it was exquisitely, brilliantly written. The extended epilogue wasn’t just to show us what happens in the following months, it shows us how they are taking every step of their relationship seriously, thoughtfully, with nothing taken for granted. It’s a marvelous story, exceptionally well-done, and highly recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

AMAZING! STEAMY! Daphne & Morgan's part of the Chimera stories is deep and intense, and so hot your Kindle might start smoking. ; )

This series is full of intricate parts that come together like a favorite TV show. Think along the lines of Revenge and The Vampire Diaries (without vampires...). Each story is about a different couple, but also gives us a peek into other couples, and Thomas, and an overarching storyline that is shaping up to be E P I C. There is a lot of intrigue, questions are posed & then answered & then connect to new questions. There is a mystery to solve... But, each book is also its own self-contained story, meaning you can enjoy each couple for just THEM, if you'd like.

I love the way Daphne & Morgan's brains work separately, and the way they fit together. Their working relationship & friendship build a great foundation, and when they finally admit their feelings of love & take that next step - BOOM!

This may be one of my favorites in the series, because we get even more insight into Thomas Meenan, and I am (once again) SO looking forward to the day he gets to tell his story & we get to peel back more of his layers. Two thumbs up & 10+++ stars!! : )

Cybill Cain has done it once again. From the moment I started to read this book, I could not put it down. Four hours after starting this book, I was shocked to find I finished it. I swear my Kindle was smoking with the speed of the pages flying by! I could not stop reading it! Cybill Cain has a way of drawing in the reader into a world whose inhabitants are so amazing they blow your mind!! Morgan and Daphne's story has become one of my favorite books of all time. Without giving away any spoilers, I laughed, I cried, I wanted to rally against the forces of evil. By the time I was done with the book, I wanted a pint of ice cream, a bottle of wine and a cold shower! I loved how she weaved in Native American mysticism with the modern corporate world. And as you read it, you see more and more how the threads of all her stories, form an intricate tapestry, one so vibrant that it will take your breath away! Please, read this book and her others. I guarantee you won't regret it. 50 shades ain't got nothing on the Chimera!

OH MY TWINKLING STARS!!!
Ok guys, you have got to read this one. This is a doozy. You'll need a cold shower if don't have other plans. LOL. Talk about unleashing a wild cat. WHEW! This is one crazy rollercoaster ride and you're not sure you want it to end. Cybil really draws you deep into her imagination and weaves a world around you until everything else ceases to exist. A rough and tumble ride to be sure. You get a full dose of all the action, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping as each scense plays out before your eyes in 3D Technicolor and man is it beautiful. I would love to know what she uses for inspiration. Think she'd loan it out? Just kidding. Cybil has a way of running with an idea that seems as simple as threading a needle, but she takes you to extremes you never thought possible. She doesn't just write the script. She draws the entire play into motion. Such a brilliantly play drawn together flawlessly and without a crease. Fantastic job Cybil, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.

Daphne was tired of being passed on for jobs because she wouldn't tame what she thought and proceeded to be what they wanted her to be. When she showed up for her interview to work with Morgan Lightner she was already frustrated so when she forced her way into the main office with everyone's resumes and hers the interviewer was amazed by her initiative and hired her on the spot. When Morgan showed up for work he didn't expect to see someone working in his office but once Daphne explained who she was everything fell into place for them. They worked well together however neither would admit they had feeling for the other. Then when Morgan had a family emergency he wanted Daphne with him and on the way there things got heated between them. Can they be together and continue to work together also?

This was an amazing story once I started I couldn't put it down. This was a well written and very entertaining story. The chemistry between Morgan and Daphne is blazing hot. I would recommedn this book to any book lover.

This is Morgan Lightner and Daphne Adams’ story. Morgan is put in charge of Chimera after James Draven’s car accident in Montauk. So this story takes place before Jame’s story.

Morgan is overwhelmed and needs help. Thomas Meenan hires Daphne to be Morgan’s Executive Assistant. Within a few hours she has all the files organized and his schedule put together for him.

After three months of working together, they both are having stronger feelings than just friends for each other, but neither one is willing to risk the working relationship to find out if the other one feels the same way. Events happen and they finally confess their feelings.

I enjoyed reading Morgan and Daphne’s story. They have great chemistry together and their personalities complement each other. There is a HEA and I am looking forward to the next installment of The Chimera series.

This is Morgan Lightner and Daphne Adams story. Daphne is smart, speakers her mind and is loyal to those she cares about. Morgan needs someone like Daphne to keep him sane and organized while running DIH for James. So when Morgan starts having feelings for Daphne he fights to keep things between them all business. The chemistry between them is explosive and the more time they spend together the more they realize they need each other in both the office and in their private lives. Get ready for the Heat!
This story is a romance but with a few twist and turns that keep you turning the pages to untangle the web. Now for the next book to continue the series. I received an ARC copy of this book and have chosen to leave this review.

The Inevitability Of Them

Beautifully written prose and such an insightful read from this amazing author. The characters were believable and the storyline was superb. I loved this read from the very beginning. Morgan Lightner has been roped in to take over as CEO at Draven International Holdings while James Draven recovers from an accident. Mysteriously Daphne Adams was given the job as Executive Assistant to Morgan. Will she be Morgan’s saviour? Can she unentangle the mystic warrior prophecy or even understand the enormity of it? Will Morgan be her gift to freedom? Who is trying to infiltrate DIH and why? You simply have to read this excellent must read to find out the answers. This is my voluntary and honest review of a copy of this book.

I loved this book but I had a bit of a problem with how some of the storyline flowed. I felt like it built me up to where I would get an answer to the "prophecy" that is discussed as part of Morgan Lightner's legacy. That being said, I still found myself engrossed from the beginning to the end and hope there will be more about Morgan and Daphne's story in another book that might delve into the relationship between James Daven and Thomas Meenan. There has to be more between these four characters than was covered in this book. Do yourself a favor, buy this book as well as the other stories in the Chimera Club Series.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.

While this is first and foremost one freakin' awesome love story full of desire and need and breathtaking passion, there are also surprising twists and turns that are downright intriguing. I loved these characters. Daphne is one of the most interesting, strongest female characters I've ever read and Morgan is just plain wonderful. Even before they reveal their love to each other, their mutual devotion is heartwarming. Their incredible connection is almost spiritual which becomes even more evident when the story takes a mystical turn. I absolutely cannot wait to see where that part of the storyline leads in future books. This emotional, beautiful romance had me from page one and I loved it.

Wow thus story was so good. I was hooked from the first chapter.  It told us of a story that was to be believed if it was true. Morgan and Daphne are the two people who it's about but can we really be sure it's just them. In my opinion...no. There's more to their story and I can what to see what happens next. This one had us so in tune and needing to know what happened that it left a cliffhanger for us. All in all it was absolutely amazing, well written and to the point. I highly recommend this book to read.  I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy

If I could rate it higher than 5 stars this would be 10, LOVED it.

Wow, what an incredible read, never read anything like it before & if I was wearing any it would have blown my socks off! Beautifully scripted & so well crafted it drew me in on the incredible journey of Daphne & Morgan. Previous reviewers have outlined the story so I won't repeat it but I can't recommend this book highly enough. I laughed out loud, I cried, 'cos I'm a softy, I loved the chemistry between all the characters & the level of heat between the hero & heroine. It can be read as a stand alone but I'm intent on buying the previous books in this series it was that good & I don't often buy books.

This is more than just a love story. I was pulled in right away and didn't want it to end. There were so many different angles to this that you can't wait to turn the page to see what else happens. I love the love story part of this with the unconditional acceptance and love the characters have for each other. I couldn't put it down until I read the whole book. I hope there are more books to this series as Sam is so very intriguing and I want to know more about him too.

I liked this book although it did get confusing at times with all of the subtle leads and innuendos from the author. I thought the premise was good and the characters interesting. I thought for sure by the end we would see the mysterious man from across the sea come into the picture in real life rather than over the phone. I didn't always get the plot though. I thought there might be more from her cowboy and his specialness, but then the story ended and I'm not sure what I read. So the author wrote an interesting book, but because I got lost so many times, I didn't really enjoy the read.

“Cat...meet Canary”

I received an Advance Reader Copy for ROPED (Chimera Club Stories, Book #7) written by Cybill Cain and voluntarily reviewed this book. Morgan Lightner has had to step up to the plate from COO of DIH, a large US-based international corporation, to running it instead, while the actual CEO James Draven is recovering from recent and bad car accident. Daphne Adams has stepped into the vital role as his personal assistant to control of what she deemed necessary to run the company’s daily operations, and literally becomes the glue and backbone of his daily office life. No way was he willing to risk anything in this working relationship, even if he had already begun to see her as an attractive woman and not merely his employee.

Daphne had not felt valued for any of her past contributions as a PA until she got lucky with her thirteenth interview, one during which she decidedly took the bull by the horns, taking charge of the interview situation which was clearly lacking direction. But now she has managed to earn not only a position where she is finally valued for her intellectual insight and input, she knows she has found a perfect fit working for Morgan. For the first time, someone got her. She belonged. Looks like this thirteenth application worked out lucky for her...or did it?

Throw in a sudden family crisis, pressure from the company’s board to have the CEO return to his post, and a reality heart-check on his now three-month nonrelationship with Daphne, suddenly has Morgan struggling continue in the role he desperately does not wish to maintain because it was not what he had signed up for. Not to mention a perhaps key mystical component involving the whispered local Lightner family legend. Very intriguing, strong and intellectual main as well as secondary characters now have me absolutely hooked on how all the connections formed in this book are going to play out in the next Chimera stories to follow.

An engaging puzzle of a ride, from the DIH office jungle setting to the multigenerational MW Ranch, which will pull you from beginning to end!

One word, incredible. This story is so hard to put down, I had to read it in one sitting. There is more to this story than I ever anticipated and I thoroughly enjoyed being surprised by twists in the storyline. Daphne is a character that is very captivating and it is easy to forget that she is just a character and not an actual person. Morgan is a very great match for Daphne and their relationship journey makes for an excellent read.

This is a very steamy hot love story between Daphne and her boss. They have so seriously great chemistry but they have taken their time to actually find out how the other feels. I love the characters and the storyline and how the sexual tension has been building between them and what will they do when it finally snaps. I look forward to reading more by this auther.

This was a really good steamy read it is the seventh book in the series but can be read on its own. This is Daphne and Morgan's story I just loved that Morgan was fighting his feeling for her because he did not want to lose her from the office with plenty of drama and lots of chemistry this was a super read
