Last Orders at the Star and Sixpence #2
Christmas Kisses at the Star and Sixpence
Part Two in the brand new series from Holly Hepburn, perfect for all fans of Cathy Bramley and Katie Fforde.
There’s nothing more romantic than a winter wedding and sisters Sam and Nessie are delighted to play host at the Star and Sixpence to a party for two of Little Monkham’s most colourful characters. The celebration even sees the return of Joss, which results in rivalry between him and Gabe, and mixed feelings in Sam.
As the festive season looms, Nessie receives some heart-breaking news and Sam finds herself in an impossible situation that threatens to drive a wedge between her and Nessie. A Merry Christmas seems unlikely at the Star and Sixpence this time…

87 books437 followersI’ve wanted to write books for adults for as long as I can remember but I was too scared to try. One day I decided to be brave and dipped a toe into the bubble bath of romantic comedy with my first novella, Cupidity, and I’ve never looked back. I often try to be funny to be funny, except for when faced with traffic wardens and border control staff. My favourite thing is making people smile.
I’ve tried many jobs over the years, from barmaid to market researcher and I even had a brief flirtation with modelling. These days I am mostly found writing.
I live near London with my grey tabby cat, Portia. We both have an unhealthy obsession with Marmite.

This is the first story to both books in the series that has made me feel sad. I felt so sorry for Nessie and then Owen. I'm so pleased they are getting through it together though.
The end I'm guessing leads to the main part of the next part. Don't lie to your sister Sam she won't thank you in the long run.

Book 2 of a 4 part book series. Note to readers, you can either read this as a 4 part book series like I’m going to or there is a full length novel which includes all of the 4 parts should you prefer to read it in that format. Also before reading this 4 part series or the full length book, make sure you have read the series that comes before this series, being Star and Sixpence which comprises of 4 short shorties or one full length novel.
I am absolutely loving this series, the setting and the characters are all so wonderful, so much so that you just want to be there too, experiencing the cosy quaint pub itself and getting to know the different characters. I truly felt for Nessie and Owen when they heard the sad news that affected them as a family, but hopefully it’ll make their relationship stronger because of it. As for Laurie, the long lost brother, I’m still undecided about him, not sure if he’s a good egg or a bad egg, he comes across as being good, but there is a couple of things he’s done that just don’t add up. As for that shocking little twist/revelation of Sam’s at the end, we’ll I’m not going to lie, as totally saw that coming, the minute she started being unwell, but the question is how will she deal with it and how long will she keep it a secret.
Well I’m heading straight into part 3 of the series in the hope of finding the answers out.

I was very excited to start this, when it landed on my kindle yesterday and now I'm just gutted that I have to wait until January for the next installment.
I loved this, could not put it down. Its great being back at the Star and Sixpence with Nessie and Sam and this was an brilliant installment. I won't say any more as I don't want to give anything away.

A great book can't wait for the next one.
This was a good second book in the series. It was easy to read and held my interest right from the beginning. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

The Star and Sixpence is having a very busy Christmas Season. There is a wedding to preside over that has a few cliches, as all weddings do. Nessie and Owen are expecting their first child so Sam, Nessie's sister is trying to keep up with all that needs to be done with as little help from Nessie as possible but then former boyfriend, Joss, comes to call and Sam is thrown for a loop and does something really stupid. Because of her stupidity she is afraid she has lost the one person she really wants, Gabe, the Star and Sixpence chef. Then Nessie has unexpected problems amd much of Sam's life is thrown into another perspective with a problem of her own.
A good Christmas read with some sadness but lots of love and Christmas cheer!

One word - predictable. I loved the Year at the Star and Sixpence and I still like the characters but it all feels very pedestrian, maybe as they are all very short sections of a book rather than the whole book for the year.

Another great instalment of life at the "Star and Sixpence" run by sisters Nessie and Sam. Can't wait for the next part.

I adore this series and am so glad I can just download the next book without having to see where the last cliff hanger left us!
