"Dibs," he murmured before he could get his brain to come up with something less stupid and a lot more charming.

Joke is happy for his sister who finally settled in with Paddy. He's happy for Gibson who found Lee and built a great relationship with her. He's happy his bar is doing well. Happy the town is thriving. He's so damned happy he's choking on it. He's also lonely.

Sissy is only looking for a safe place where she can live her life in peace and quiet, hidden from someone who has haunted her life since she was eighteen. Having a man in that life is not needed, or even particularly wanted. Not even big, brawny Joke Tucker, the barman who also happens to be her boss.

Things are about to change for both of them, and as a consequence, for a few others too.

Please note: This book contains crude words and somewhat explicit adult scenes. If this isn't your thing, then this book might not be for you.

Joke finally gets his woman and they are perfect together! As hard as he seems, as much as he seems to do fine on his own, I’ve wanted him to have his chance to find someone, because even tough guys need love and besides, there is nothing better than watching raw masculinity melt into a puddle of goo!

Sissy is on the run, not only for her own safety, but for that of her daughters. A monster has been stalking her for decades, crushed her dreams and ruined her marriage. Now she has landed in a small town and will be the new barmaid at the Oak, with the hottest boss she has ever seen. Not that she could risk having a new man in her screwed up life.

One look and Joke is a goner, but how could this beautiful woman fall for a guy like him, especially when she confides in him about her past that won’t stop rearing its ugly head?
Could this be Joke’s time to find love? Will he be able to keep Sissy safe? Can he handle her daughters AND her parents?

Humor, heart, heat and some horrific events make Mia Malone’s JOKE a fabulous addition to The Brothers series as one of my favorite characters finally gets exactly what he has been craving and has no intention of losing her to anyone. Both Sissy and Joke are believable mature adults, proof that just because you are over fifty, it doesn’t mean you’re dead!

Some authors are able to balance that fine line between earthy and sensual and predictably smutty. Mia Malone is one of those authors and her writing is explosive in its raw power from her characters’ dialogue to the sizzle and intensity of the passion in everything they do. And. It. Is. Smoking. Hot…Smoking. Hot. Love the characters, the town and the Oak!

I received a complimentary copy from Mia Malone!

re-read, 3.5*

I really enjoyed this one even though I skipped all the sexy times lol, it still doesn't make sense that the bad guy was able to do so much with so many badasses around but I rolled with it. I'd say 3.5* which I would've bumped up without the awkward sex

Spoilers ahead

Sissy has spent many years with a stalker after her, he's caused fear and damage to her life but she's never been able to permanently rid herself of him. Finding herself divorced she moves to Wilhelmine and goes to Joke's bar looking for a job.
Joke is a little bit lonely, while he's happy for his sister and his friends who've found their one he finds himself restless....until Sissy walks into his bar

*********
Huh 😂 I have no idea how I feel. I enjoyed this book but some things are icking me out. First of all these guys are old 😂 I feel weird lol
The voyeurism situation is weird as hell, the way Joke first introduced Sissy to his involvement in it wasn't well done at all, then his explanation wasn't very clear neither were his thoughts on if he'd give it up or not. Maybe it's because we know he'd wanted Mia but I find myself uncomfortable with the situation
Aside from the sex I liked this book and the mcs but I absolutely adored Joke with Sissy's kids.
I'm not sure I believe that her stalker could get away with that shit for so long, I mean her dad and brothers were badasses couldn't they have arranged an accident for the asshole?? Idk weird

Again I had some minor quibbles but I enjoyed this one for the most part

Sissy's long ago ex has been stalking her for many many years, he ends up shooting Joke but justice is delivered
Voyeurism with Gibson and Lee
Sissy had a wild youth, was married and divorced
Joke was in a serious relationship and had hookups over the years. If I remember correctly he was celibate for a few months
No cheating
No OW drama
OM drama from the sicko who wanted Sissy

Seriously?

I’ve been hoping to get through these books so I’m ready for Mac’s story, but I don’t even know that I care anymore. Spoiler alert: letting the woman you’re currently seeing know that you were a third in your friend’s fun times by SHOWING HER some of what you’ve done by doing it in front of her isn’t cool to me. These books have too many tropes thrown in to even care enough to keep track of them now.

I bought Day’s book before reading this one, so I guess I’m plodding onward, but I’m likely not going to enjoy it much. Maybe I’ll be surprised, but I somehow doubt that I will be.

I just recently discover this author and I just can't stop.. This is the 3rd book which I read continously in 2 days! Yes people I just read books after books after books.. They have total of 5 books who talks about long time friends in a small town setting Brothers who are on their fifties! Middle age Hunks are rare and the characters are very interesting because of their age they have been through a lot in life (several divorce, children, broken relationships etc) so they are really complex set of characters.

Book 3 talks about Joke Tucker and I am calling Dibs! Joke is just so easy to love he is not a complicated person after being irritated to Paddy I am welcoming this easy going, go with the flow man who fall in love with Sissy on first sight! Joke is just cool and I like that about him! He is friend with the heroine ex husband (Dante) so that is saying something on his character!
If you love KA's books this series is a diluted shorted version.. I am enjoying it so far and will continue to read the remaining 2 books ( Day and Mac)

Joke Tucker is a man whose interest is peaked when Sissy arrives in town. Sissy is trying to protect her kids from a stalker who has made her whole life miserable and settling in a small town is perfect for her to hide. She doesn't plan on falling for Joke and when her ex comes to town it brings another danger that puts her in harms way.

I liked aspects of this one but felt like some of the story didn't quite answer the questions that arise during the reading. I think I need to go back and start from the beginning of the series as there were already established storylines that I was not familiar with. Good story though.

Lovisa Sissy Parker, is seeking sanctuary from a recently paroled madman, a man having terrorised her since she was eighteen.

At fourteen, he became her boyfriend, He was older, and came from money. Great car. Took her places. Told her, she was everything he ever wanted. T o a small-town girl growing up with a group of bikers.
“She’d been skiing her whole life. Everyone does in her family. There were mountains all around and they used to walk up and ski down, so she got good training from an early age. Turned out she was good.
“He didn’t like it. Wanted to get married. Wanted kids. I made the national team, and he wanted me to give that up. I was eighteen years old and figured we’d just wait a few years, but he was twenty-four and didn’t want to wait any longer”.

He had been six years older and made her his girlfriend when he was twenty, and she was fourteen?

She was attacked ending her budding Olympic skiing career. Twenty years of marriage later, her husband Dante wants a divorce and custody of their two girls.

They had joint custody, but she knew that if she upset Dante, he could easily apply for full custody. I knew this because he‘d told me so, and added, “Don’t for a second think that I’m joking, Louisa.”

She’d spoken to her lawyer, and he’d said that if we ended up in court battling for custody it would cost a lot of money and it could go either way. His advice had been to keep Dante happy, which was partly why I’d given up the house I’d rented and left. I’d told the girls I’d stay away until the school year was over. Cady needed to focus on her last year and had seemed mostly relieved, but Mimi was just fourteen, almost fifteen.

The Brothers weren’t exactly a motorcycle club. They acted as one when it suited them, but technically they weren’t one.
“You resemble one,” Sissy said.
“Yeah?”
“You’d be the president,” she said to Paddy, turned to Gib and murmured, “Sergeant at Arms.” His brows went up, but she ignored it and turned to Mac, “Second.” Her eyes went to Day, and she grinned. “Road captain.” He grinned back at her, and finally, her fucking fantastic blue eyes speared him with a look. “Liaison.”
She’d pegged them all correctly.
“Jesus, Siss,” Joke said, but something had struck him, and he had to ask, so he did. “Your dad is the president of Thor. Why haven’t they just gotten rid of the man who hurt you? Surely they could –”
“They can’t,” she said. “Okay. Right. Let me start from the beginning.”

Sissy enters Oak, Joke’s establishment, at fifty-one, she is mistaken for someone far younger than her age, initially leading Joke to assume that she’s younger than represented. By all accounts, she looks ten years younger. Sissy is a divorced, mother of two girls…and her dad is the president of Thor.

Texts from to her, after her family meets Joke:::
“F…… huge step up from the douche.”
That was from Black(her brother). He had never liked Dante.
“Not a guy I want to piss off.”
Ice (her other brother) and he was probably not wrong about that.
“A man who tells me I’m the hottest seventy-five-year-old he’s ever seen is a man to keep.”
From Mom, and oh my God, had Joke told her that?
“He’s okay.”
Dad sent that and knowing him, this was praise of the highest order. After meeting Dante for the first time, he’d sent me an email five pages long, not once using the word okay.”

Joke is critically shot by her Stalker, as the entire town rallies to donate blood. Sissy’s youngest, Mimi decides she want to live in Wilhemine.

There are naughty group references throughout the series involving shared experiences between Gibson, Lee, Joke and Sissy.

Her ex-husband, Dante, two well-adjusted daughters, an MC father, smoking hot mother, brothers and sexy times in the barn and Joke has found his HEA.

Okay. Joke was only okay. I still liked it well enough and will continue the series
However, this next part needs saying
This story wobbled a bit more than others I've read from this author and occasionally wandered into tropetastic territory. Too much detail about other characters and their sex lives. Too much inconsequential minutiae. Abrupt ending that wasn't very satisfying.

Not a hot mess, but needed more work

Good read

This is the third book in the Brothers series. I thought it was pretty good. Maybe not quite as much of a page turner as the first two, but I did enjoy it. I will be saving it on my kindle along with the first two and look forward to the next in the series which will be out in November. I don't care if Mia Malone writes in a similar style to Kristen Ashley, who's books I love. I've been reading romance books for almost fifty years, and finding stories that keep me turning the pages in anticipation of what will happen next doesn't happen very often. I'm glad to have found a series that does just that. I will continue to buy Mia's books as long as I can keep doing that.

Joke is not a joker. He's too intense to be a funny man. But this is really Sissy's story.

They both have lived lives dedicated to family. Loyalty to family, whether blood or made, is the foundation for their strength. They've plodded thru the trenches and climbed out the other side stronger and better for the trials they've survived.

They take the time to learn each other. The history. The motivation. They've learned the importance of patience... and use it to build bonds that will make them lovers... then a family.
When you least expect it... maybe before you think you're ready... life happens.

Joke & Sissy

Another good installment with great story telling and real-life but engaging interactions between mature adults finding love in a later phase of their life.

Sissy was on the run to find a safe place to land after being hounded for years by a nasty former boyfriend. Even to the point that her own husband(soon to be ex) wanted her to find somewhere else to keep their children safe.

The only issue I had with this was the excuse why they couldn't just kill him but that didn't stop the Wilhelmine crew from taking care of it.

Liked the hot and steamy parts, even the ones including Lee and Gib.

Looking forward to day's book.

Joke and Sissy was the SHIT!!

Omg this book was soooo good. I hated Dante in the beginning but he redeemed himself. I did not want the book to end. What the hell is wrong with our justice system that would allow that crazy man out of prison. I know, it’s fiction, but WTF! Her dad should have broken both of his legs and kneecaps for what he did. Great story. Mia! I need Day’s story today!!

It was okay.
The non ménage voyerism thing was a bit weird. To me it doesn't fit who these men are as they are so possessive of heir woman I couldn't see them wanting to share that part of their relationship with anyone else.
Small ex drama.
Introduction of extra characters, the heroines family, breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series or spin off.
Intimate scene of other couple in earlier book, watched by this couple.

HEA.

Mia Malone does it again.

Mia is a new author for me, this is the third book in the series and they just get better and better. Loved Joke and Sissy. Love the group of friends interactions and I love that they are all older. Saying that I loved Sissy girls too. Another great book. Thank you Mia. Can't wait to read about Day and Bebe next.

Every time I finish one in this series I think it can’t get better. And then it does. Mia Malone just pulls you in and you are absorbed right into that story. It becomes somewhere you want to live and has people you want to know. That is the best feelingI can get from a book. Can’t wait to read the next one". Thank you Mia Malone for entertaining all of us so spectacularly.

Love this series. Def recommend. Love all the characters and their relationships. This is my favorite so far in the series. Only thing I didn’t like and it is a personal preference is Dante and how to me he was an a-hole in beginning but liked by all at end. I didn’t like him at all and would have liked for him to have some regrets

Great read!

In the third book of the series the author gave us another strong woman, and of course an alpha male for us to call for too.
Very good storyline - and so good to connect with characters who have such history between them.

Definitely recommend!

Awesome

I loved Sissy's character in spite of all that happened to her she was able to stand strong, especially with the right man standing beside her. I have liked Joke in the previous books and totally enjoyed seeing him get his lady.

Joke!

I loved this addition to the series about a few devastatingly hawt men! Joke is all man and knows he's met his match when he meets Sissy. Lots of laughs with drama plus several sexy scenes! Great read!

Another good addition to the series. I have to be honest and say that some of the parts rubbed me the wrong way with the main characters, but the author wrote the book really well and that went away as I got further in the book and got to know them better.

As with all of Mia's series it is difficult to rank favorites because there are so many good characters. Within the Brothers series, I really enjoyed the dynamic between Joke and Sissy along with her daughters (and even her ex)!
