Elena :)

I keep going 'awwww' with these books. We get to see Charlotte and the gang again, all going back to Hawthorn to help their 'assigned project' with personal matters. It would seem that Charlotte will never get rid of her High School at this rate, but I don't care. She gets assigned Damen, while her supposed boyfriend in the Other World gets assigned Scarlet. This was nice because you'd always expect Charlotte and Scarlet to be together, and it's nice seeing Charlotte being around Damen without being utterly and helplessly in love with him anymore. She has grown so much, she only wishes for Scarlet and Damen's happiness and she knows how much they love each other, so she is always willing to help whenever they have problems, which is exactly what happens in this book. Is a cute love story about break ups and getting back together. About accepting you as you are and starting to trust that your partner has to like you just as you are, and that you shouldn't be doing assumptions about your relationship, but talk things out. It's got very nice messages about self respect and self love, and how relationships should work.
Darcy was a nice surprise, although I kinda saw it coming. The Wendys haven't changed and I doubt they ever will. The most shocking thing of all was Petula, the growth that character has shown is beyond anything I could have imagined, and I absolutely love it. The near death experience had a toll on her, but I think it was also her relationship with Virginia and realising that things need to change in her. I'm impressed, seriously. I knew something was up with Tate, but I still liked it, because at least this time, Petula has truly worked hard to get good things going for her. I couldn't have asked for a better character development like hers.
I'm simply in love with these books. They are the perfect combination of a simple enough story that I get to enjoy without thinking too much, with just the right amount of romance without silly love triangles, but with enough amount of difficult subjects here and there that can make you think about life and selfesteem. They are great.

Perubahan dratis Petula sempat membuat keluarganya cemas.

The Greeting Card Association (Asosiasi Kartu Ucapan AS) memperkirakan bahwa di seluruh dunia sekitar satu miliar kartu valentine dikirimkan per tahun.

Judulnya Mencium Ciumanmu.
Seharusnya kau perlu di sini bersamaku
Kulihat yang kaulihat dengan caraku
Benarkah t’lah kucium habis ciumanmu?
Mau tak mau’ku berpikir saat kau jauh dariku
Bahwa kau memang tercipta untukku

There are two more books in this series, however, I didn't buy them, and I can confidently say that I won't be reading them.

This third installment follows the same cast of characters in the lead up to prom, and like the first two, is full of issues. The characters and story are underdeveloped and over-simplified, with realizations and changes of heart being fully realized within an instant, rather than over a period of time.

There are a huge number of issues with the details as well; a high school biology class dissects CATS - something that would never happen (especially considering that most schools don't even work with frogs any more for ethical reasons), a radio station contest seems to have random rules where songs can be entered at any point and pulled at any point, and a radio intern doesn't know the rules of the contest, a radio station somehow is able to take over a high school prom within days of the event (how? What?), an entire prom theme is changed within that same time frame (as anyone who has organized an event knows, that just wouldn't happen), etc etc. The portrayal of high school is completely bizarre, with "popular" girls able to secure one-of-a-kind dresses at multiple boutiques and keeping personal tax lawyers (and surgeons)... in a small town. Even in Beverly Hills, this would be a little OTT.

Reading each of these books had me constantly wanting to scream "that's not how that WORKS", and the lack of research is incredibly frustrating as a reader. It's simply not a story that makes sense - in fact, only the "supernatural" elements really gelled.

The last element of frustration is how saccharine the ending is. This is childish wish fulfillment on a grand scale. The relationship that drifts apart when the older guy goes away to college? By the end, they are happier than ever. Outsider goth girl/punk musician? End of book three, she is uber popular with everyone and on her way to being a famous musician. Bitchy "mean girl" types? Appropriate karmic punishment is meted out. Popular girl discovers her charitable side and is rewarded with billionaire boyfriend. Protagonist who is jealous, childish and generally behaves badly to her boyfriend? Clearly ends up with him more in love with her than ever. There is no sense of reality, or the idea that things may not end "perfectly" and that is actually just fine - instead, things must come up roses (expensive, rare roses that can be ordered by the thousand within a week, according to the author) in the most cliched sense.

There is little to recommend this other than it being mercifully short.

Ghostgirl Lovesick
Tonya Hurley
Fantasy

After Charlette’s “so called best friend” Maddy turns out to be an evil ghost who wants to be back in her life of popularity and fame everything must go back to normal. Charlette has to go back to “work” at a phone bank with all her Dead-Ed friends and help human teens with hard situations. Then Mr.Marvek has a project for Charlette’s friends they have to go to Hawthorwne High again to do a very important project. Getting living partners who don’t even know the ghost’s are there helping them. Charlette gets pared up with the boy she died for. Damen Dylan. Her living best friend Scarlets boyfriend. ( Scarlet can see ghosts. Charlette possessed Scarlet in the first book with permission.) Charlette has just started dating a new boy named Eric. And Eric gets pared up with Scarlet with both couples break-up? Read to find out.

Tonya Hurley really describes Charlette’s afterlife and how Charlette feels. She come up with great stories about the girl girl who choked on a gummy bear because Damen Dylan asked her to help him study. I really liked the description of the characters and settings. I didn’t like how depressing it could get sometimes with all the teens who died from really sad ways. I love how she expresses the characters emotions how real people would. Tonya Hurley is a really good writer and I love all 3 of her books and can’t wait till the 4th.

This was a really good book. I was skeptical at first though because I bought it for $3.97 at Wal-Mart, but it turned out to be a really good book. It was a little confusing at first, but then it got better. I loved the characters and in a strange way thought I could relate to all of them. Even though I am way past a high school love relationship, I felt as though I could relate to alot of what the characters were going through in my adult relationship. I also loved what the story was about and how it got it's points about love and relationships across to the reader. I also loved that before every chapter the author put a little insightful advice on relationships and it also connected into what that chapter was about. I honestly think that was my favorite part of this book.

I also have to say that this is the third book to a series and I didn't know that until I looked this book up to put it on here lol. So I read the third book first. I am debating weather I want to read the first 2 now. I think they would be good to read but then again I think they would be hard to top these ones. However, seeing how I did the same thing with Twilight lol, I think I might give them a chance. This also proves my point that authors should put the number somewhere after the title if it isn't the first one or on the side of the bind of the book or something. It just confuses readers and makes them mad when they finish the book and realize that it isn't the first one and that it is even a series all together. I have also started looking for this sort of thing after the Twilight confusion that I did, but with this book it didn't indicate that there were any other books by this author at all, most books have that in the first 2 pages. And it also did not have this at the end of the book either. So, that was the only downfall I had with this book, but it wasn't really the book or story its self that had the problem.

All in all this was a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a romantic ghost story. This book is also good for anyone of all ages to read. It doesn't have graphic content in it or written verbal sexual parts.

Great read!

I always end up liking these books more than I initially thought I would when I first picked them up. They are cute, funny, and have a lot of heart. Probably not the most amazing series in the world, but they are a nice, happy read while you are waiting for the next book in that intense YA series you are reading.
Though the covers suggest that they are a middle grade novel, they are young adult. I would recommend them for a nice, peaceful read to anyone.

I do not even know where to begin with this book! It completely blew my mind. It was even better then I expected it to be in all honesty. This is the third book in a very recent series by Tonya Hurley called “ghostgirl”. I have read the first and second one and the format for the book has not changed which makes me very ecstatic. The format is a hard cover book with sliver trimmed pages, contains a silhouette of Charlotte Usher on the cover, and in the beginning of every chapter. Another the thing that the start of each chapter has is a quote that relates to the context of that chapter and the story line. Some of the ones I found infatuating were “Love is a grave mental disease.” -Plato, “Envy slays itself by its own arrows” - Author Unknown, “Gravity cannot be held responsible for people falling in love” - Albert Einstein, “Loneliness is a crowded room” - Bryan Ferry, and many others. These caught my attention because they were said by many important figures in different subjects like History, English, and Physics. In a different light however, they are speaking about love. So this book is physically pleasing and its appearance gets five stars but so does the story line. This novel is about Charlotte Usher’s new adventure as being a teenage ghost just trying to reach peace and salvation. First she must complete a series of tasks with a group of “classmates” and this is her third challenge (each book is a different challenge for the “class” to complete). Each ghost in the class was assigned a living teenager to “help”. Every teenager has a problem with themselves and the ghosts were like guardian angels sent to help each one and once the task was accomplished they would all be allowed to come back to the place where they all stayed and “lived“. The book ends with a “the end?” on the last page so what will charlotte next challenge be? … Can’t wait to find out!

"We all fall down. They call it falling for someone for a reason. ...Either way, you will carry the reminder of it forever. Whether it leaves a tiny scar or a permanent injury, only the future can tell."

Tonya Hurley had successfully (again) written a philosophical love story that all we non Dead-Ed kids that we can relate with!

In Ghostgirl: Lovesick, Charlotte Usher finally gets a boyfriend in her Dead world; Electric Eric (who died when the lightning struck his guitar's amplifier).

Then Mr. Markov decided that they all have to go back to the living world, to do their job again. Only this time, Charlotte wasn't assigned to help Scarlet, her best friend.

In fact, Charlotte was assigned to be with Damen--the guy who Charlotte was dead for--and be his guardian angel.

So off they go--Eric helplessly watching Charlotte with slight jealousy while Charlotte envies Scarlet who is guarded by Eric.

But love blinds everyone--it makes you want to change your self just to be better (even though sometimes it's for worse).

Ghostgirl: Lovesick tells the story that love, in life or death, is always difficult either way.

What I love about this book: In between the chapters there's quotes and Tonya Hurley's original thoughts on love that shadows the coming chapters and it's really beautiful. Ghostgirl: Lovesick is also funny and sweet; always a good read for everyone who's in or out of love. ;)

What I dislike about the book: At the end, it's always "The end?", it kinda...confuses me, makes me guess if there'll be another book or not....

Ghostgirl Charlotte is back, this time enjoying her new (after)life with a boyfriend on her arm and a task she has to complete.

She must go back to Hawthorne and help one of her ex-fellow classmates with their problem, before the prom. Of course, for Charlotte it already gets complicated when her boyfriend, Eric, gets assigned to her best friend, Scarlett, whose boyfriend, Damen, is assigned to Charlotte. Confusing? Yes!

Before they know it, the couples are quickly in shambles, as Scarlett is unsure if Damen truly likes the real her, and Charlotte just isn't too pleased with all the time Scarlett and Eric are spending together.

With a radio competition; a possessed mystery that leads to a new popular girl in school; a Petula that seems to be, shall we say it, nicer; a new look for Scarlett; and a prom that just might start with the wrong mix of couples - it might be a while before Charlotte can truly rest in peace.

Third in the GHOSTGIRL series, Tonya Hurley does not disappoint, as she continues to bring on the hilarity, angst, and mystery to her very own world. Charlotte and her problems can actually be very relatable, even if she is dead. Readers will be satisfied with this installment, all the while wondering if there will be a fourth.

I won Ghostgirl: Lovesick on Goodreads Giveaway. I am so happy to say that Ghostgirl: Lovesick is SO MUCH FUN. First of all, it is number three in a series, which means I'm going to have to go out and buy the first two books. I want to find out how the series began.

The premise is something completey different than the usual Young Adult book. Tonya Hurley touches on a subject that all teenagers feel at one time or another; feeling invisible. However, she approaches the subject in a very unexpected way. I enjoy reading a book where teenagers can learn about important issues in a very subtle way. Being an adult, I enjoyed reading this book, and would also recommend it for pre-teens.

Ghostgirl: Lovesick is cleverly written. It is insightful, emotional, and hilarious. The characters have endearingly quirky personalities. I loved the introductions for each chapter. I was extremely curious to see how it ended, and almost, ALMOST, peeked. That's how much I enjoyed reading Ghostgirl: Lovesick. This is a book to buy for your pre-teens and teenagers. It would not surprise me to see this become a movie or television series.

This is definitely a book I won't have to think twice about curling up with on cold, rainy evenings. Aside from the relatable quotes that can be located at the start of every chapter, the romance is sweet and savvy; just the kind that'll automatically cheer you up when the blues come.

The first few chapters were boring but the rest of the book picked up pace and created an ending that was nothing short of magical. (It was cheesy and expected - well, except for Petula's adorable love story - but I still found myself jumping around, squealing in delight and giggling like a silly schoolgirl.) I had no problems with the characters; they were all very unique in their own way.

Charlotte is an especially sweet character - I will definitely be picking up the first two books in the series for more of her. (Yeah, I skipped ahead and read the third book first. Sue me.) Definitely recommended to those who enjoy a cute, lighthearted romance - with a sprinkle of the paranormal to add in a little spice and make it extra irresistible.

Of the three ghostgirl books, this has the most depth and character development. I'm amazed I got this far because I don't finish most of the series I start. It was so worth it though.

I never liked Charlotte but there were enough supporting characters to take up her spotlight that she had more of in the last two books. For me, this was about Scarlett, Eric, Damen, and their music. If the whole book was told from her POV, I would have taken a couple of months to finish this.

Petula and Tate, seriously? I never got to know them or how they interacted with each other so why should I care about them? Just for Petula and Tate, I want a sequel! And for the ghosts! Coco did the best but of course, Charlotte is the hero.

Best ghostgirl book yet!

The best one of the ghostgirl trilogy. It was sweet, romantic and a very nice read. I am a bit confused on wether the story is over or not, since all of the books finish with the same "The End?" question, but if the series isn't entirely over... I want more Charlotte & Eric!!

The same self-absorbed, snarky and outrageously parodic early 2000s rom com tone as the previous entries but with a slightly random actual plot.

Purgatory never ends as the “phone hotline” phase of the teens’ labour makes way for YET ANOTHER job of basically being current high school students’ consciences (apart from Damen who’s literally at college but still gets assigned Charlotte?) - how many times can you be told “this is the test and then you’ll cross over” before you just be like “stop LYING”. This follows on really well from the previous book, actually jumping off from loose threads in there like how the coma changed Petula, how Charlotte genuinely doesn’t fancy Damen anymore and what happened to Maddy after she ran off in the book 2 conclusion.

There feels like minimal character growth from everyone apart from Petula - everyone’s still whiny and can’t communicate properly. The Wendy’s maintain their commitment to confident ignorance. Scarlet felt EXTRA whiny in this one like she was expecting Damen to just understand how she felt whilst not actually telling him. Scarlet’s commitment to making sure her best friend Charlotte is never forgotten by visiting her grave often is really wonderful though, it does make me sad that they didn’t get to experience this friendship in life. Charlotte has parents now but we learn exactly zilch about how/why she was an orphan in life, anything about her parents or why they came to greet her later than everyone’s else’s people in book 2.

Charlotte does get a non-Damen love interest but we don’t actually see much interaction between them - they had zero chemistry to me, but maybe because we jump into the tale immediately with them already dating, we don’t see any build up, so the author is telling us they fancy each other rather than showing me in the story. He’s also in the call centre but not from her batch of graduates - I do not understand the rules about Dead Ed and individuals vs whole classes passing - like in book one it was like she’d doom them all if everyone didn’t pass but also he and Maddy seem to have got to the next stage fine as an individual - and it never made sense to me that whoever is the first one there has just wait for more dead people to join the class so some people are in there longer than others and watching same video over and over??

Going to the high school dance is our inevitable traditional conclusion in these books by now - as a British person, I was so confused when Charlotte was like “she’d never get to go to the prom” and I was like “did she not in book 1??” But turns out Americans have lots of dances with different names - book one was like dance number one of the year, this one is the final one before graduation… acting bit dramatic, let’s be real, they’re all basically the same thing lol.

I did enjoy this more than book 2 - it felt like a good blend of both book 1 & 2, back in the high school environment where this story thrives, but with enough prior plot and characters to actually make a story with twists and progression - gave 3 stars but if could give 3.5 I would.
