Easter is almost here—and Turkey knows just how to celebrate. He’s going to win the eggstra-special Easter egg hunt! The only problem is that animals aren’t allowed to enter. So he and his barnyard friends come up with a top-secret plan. With his trademark disguises and a whole lot of help, Turkey goes undercover. Will his basket of tricks help him win a prize?
Wendi Silvano has done it again! With illustrations by Lee Harper, Ms. Silvano shares another fun tale about Turkey and his barnyard friends. In Turkey's Eggcellent Easter, Turkey pulls out his disguises again in hopes of snagging a special egg during a children's Easter Egg Hunt. I found myself laughing from the first page until the last. I cannot wait to share with my students. I think you will like it too.
The illustrations were more interesting than the story. I liked earlier stories of this wacky turkey. This time he is trying to get into the Easter egg hunt with different disguises with the help of his friends. It is very silly. Kids may like it. The story line was kind of boring to me. Skip this one. The reading level is Grade K-2.
Silvano has written her fourth in the Turkey Trouble series, with another holiday setting, Easter.
When Turkey spies a sign advertising an Eggstraspecial Egg Hunt, Turkey and his fellow farm friends want to go to. But, the problem is the egg hunt is only for kids! So Turkey, Sheep, and Cow devise a plan for Turkey to attend and find that special egg to win the prize.
Of course, all kind of hilarity ensues and things don’t turn out for Turkey. Each of his disguises is discovered and Turkey realizes he won’t find the special egg…until they try one last idea.
The farm animals all have to work together to solve their problem and then they all get to share in the special prize at the end. The animals are incredibly silly and the costumes will make kids giggle. This is a great read-aloud full of opportunities for voices and parents will find a hard time reading it without laughing. The writing is clever and parents won’t get bored reading this one.
The animals’ and kids’ expressions show their true determination to get the egg and the shock when they are found out. The unique characteristics given to each animal are so fun to see on the pages. No detail is left behind and children will love looking at the pictures as much as hearing the story.
Don’t miss this enjoyable picture book for your child’s Easter basket!
Turkey and some of the other farm animals, out on their morning work-out, discovered a sign stating an upcoming Easter egg hunt. Turkey wanted to participate to win the eggstraspecial prize. The other animals were convinced he couldn’t because the hunt was only for kids. But that wasn’t going to stop Turkey. He was determined. His animal friends helped him with various disguises, like a rabbit costume, a daffodil and even a bee, but he kept being seen by the kids on the hunt. Finally, they all decided to disguise Turkey as a very special egg. Right away Turkey was spotted, and the kids were excited. They thought Turkey was the eggstraspecial prize. What do you think happened next?
This hilariously illustrated story is fun and will have young readers giggling with every turn of the page. Children will have enjoy choosing their favorite animals and will find the basic sentence structure easy to read. Parents, teachers and caregivers can use this as a tool to discuss friendship and teamwork.
Turkey and his wacky costumes are back for another holiday. In this one, Turkey wants to participate in the Easter egg hunt, but he keeps being thwarted, in a "silly rabbit, Trix are for kids" sort of theme.
The illustrations are wacky as ever, and kids will no doubt be giggling at Turkey's increasingly unusual costumes and the other animals' goofy expressions.
Since this is just a book about Turkey dressing up so he can sneak into an Easter egg hunt, it distinctly lacks something from the Thanksgiving and Christmas stories, in my estimation. Those books had Turkey disguising himself to avoid becoming the holiday dinner...and presented the idea that nobody wants to be eaten and new traditions can be created in a wonderfully engaging, gentle, and humorous way.
This Easter adventure of Turkey's disguises could quite possibly top Turkey Claus for me and I loved that one a lot. This new picture book has the added bonus of more collaboration with other animals on Turkey's farm, excellent vocabulary for little ones, and clever disguising adventures for Turkey. I laughed out loud many times! Very cute and well done! If you loved the other Turkey books, this one won't disappoint! And if you don't know Turkey, get on board- these are too funny to pass up!
I received a free copy of the book from the publisher as a winner of a Goodreads giveaway, however all opinions are my own.
Great fun for getting the kids amped up for easter. Nicely illustrated and lots of detail for the kids to get into. Though it's obvious to an adult, 3y/o found it hard to digest sunglasses & black ties as a disguise("playing dress-up"). The constant replacement of "ex-" with "egg-" is cute but annoying from the perspective of wanting to teach the kid to speak properly. I don't understand why they had to have turkey dress up like a rabbit when there was already a rabbit. But on the whole, this book is a keeper and worth buying in paperback if possible.
The fourth in the Turkey Trouble series. This title might be used to introduce problem solving or STEAM egg drop challenge. Turkey and friends want to enter the Easter Egg Contest to find the "eggstraspecial egg." But, since only kids can enter, Turkey and friends try to create disguises to sneak the special egg.
great illustrations. so fun ... i read 3 books from this author in one chance ... awesome amazingly great!! loved it one but this Easter read really was over the top and we are getting closer to the Easter holiday over Christmas and Turkey day ...but they are all awesome ... just picking a fave 'cause i can.
Hilarious romp with turkey and his barnyard friends; pig, cow, rabbit, horse, and sheep who want to join the children's Easter Egg hunt. But animals are not allowed so they come up with great costumes and teamwork to win a prize by the end. Great undercover costumes and teamwork. The illustrations are hilarious.
When Turkey wants to win the special Easter egg, hunt the animals make a top-secret plan with disguises. With the animals’ help, Turkey gets in lots of tight squeezes. Can he win? Will you laugh? This is super funny and cute; a real winner.
Easter is approaching, and Turkey is determined to enter the egg hunt, and win it. With the help of his friends, and clever disguises Turkey goes undercover with a top secret plan to bring home the prize.
Turkey’s back with his friends in this cute Easter book. Master of disguise, turkey sets out to find the “special” Easter egg during the holiday hunt but his disguises just aren’t cutting it. Until he finds the perfect one... 3.5 ⭐️
The animals are curious about the Easter egg hunt. They read about on the bill board. They wanted one of special eggs. So they put their heads together, and hatched out a plan to get themselves one. Read this cute and funny book to find out what happened. Debra H.
The animals really want to get the special eggs at the annual Easter Egg hunt. As expected, they come up with several costumes for Turkey but they don't work. Readers will love the humor and appreciate the successful costume in the end.
I read this before to my granddaughter but we weren't allowed to rate the story for some reason.bSo happy to get the chance now. This Easter story was so much fun, reading about the animals going Easter egg hunting.
The story of this book is creative and fun. The illustrations are really cute! Any child would love to see and hear this funny story about a Turkey at Easter.
This book is a great addition to the Turkey Trouble series. Once again the illustrations are wonderful. Turkey's clever thinking paired with the support of his friends results in a happy outcome.
Kind of a zany fun, as many farm animals plot to get the egg hunt prize, and participate, but the actual in disguise on the ground work is all done by turkey. Excellent pairing of story and art.
If you like the others, you will no doubt like this one too. This turkey is funny and for some crazy reason loves weird pizza flavors. Pizza with jelly beans.
