It’s Pepper Dunn’s first Halloween in magical Magnolia Cove, Alabama. She can’t wait to experience all her home has to offer—haunted houses, real ghosts, great fried food. And for one night, regular folks are invited to enter this town of witches.

But when Rufus Mayes appears, Halloween looks to go haywire. But Rufus vows not to bother Pepper. Instead, he needs her.

He’s promised a buyer one of Magnolia Cove’s sacred objects, a watch that manipulates time. But the object is too volatile to sell. Rufus needs Pepper’s help to trade a decoy.

When the hand-off goes terribly wrong and the buyer winds up dead, it looks like a murderer is loose in Magnolia Cove.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the watch breaks and Pepper and her family find themselves forced to relive Halloween everyday. Even worse, the murderer is still loose and wreaking havoc in a town that’s already in plunged into chaos.

Can Pepper find the murderer or will she become the next victim? More importantly, can she free Magnolia Cove from eternal Halloween, or will the town be forced to relive the same day forever?

Magnolia Cove is trapped in a Groundhog Day Halloween when an evil gorgon comes to town to steal a magical artifact and instead causes it to break and stop time. Pepper, her family and friends must repair the Time Watch, locate a rogue gorgon, and save the town from rampaging giants. Easy peasy, right?

Book six in the series has plenty of magical mayhem and the usual cast of loopy characters to keep you engaged. I have to hope that Pepper and her boyfriend Axel the werewolf can take the next step in their relationship; the tension is killing me.

This is a fun and entertaining story, well worth reading.

You know if you complete and absolutely love the sixth installment in a series you definitely know it’s true love and this series is something you can get invested in. In this book things REALLY go sideways in this one! So it’s finally Halloween in Magnolia Cove! Halloween in the most magical town in the south, sounds fun right?! WRONG! When Rufus rides back into town everyone realizes that the wards are not working! But, for the first time in a long time Rufus is there for a good reason and needs the help of our Sweet Tea Witches! A gorgon is on the lose, a new mysterious woman moves next door to Betty, and Pepper finds out there’s a little more to her powers. This book is a little darker than the rest but it’s so amazing. The action for this installment really comes in when a coveted magical artifact breaks. The Time Traveller breaks and very literally gets Magnolia Cove stuck in Halloween. I really loved the resolution in this book, I of course won’t share what happens at the end! This was so enjoyable and for once we learn a little more about Rufus, and what we learn opens our eyes to so much more. Something very crazy happens with Axel and Pepper, so just know YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! We also learn some things about Betty that really highlight why she is the best woman for the job of “running the town behind the scenes”. Since this was the last book in this three book box set I of course bought the third three book box set! I noticed that after these three I’ll have to buy the books singularly but I have no problem with that. I love these characters, these stories, these sweet resolutions, and these amazing feelings I get after reading a Sweet Tea With Novel.

Great addition to the series with a shocking cliffhanger. The thought of endless Halloween might make some people excited but once they experience it like this, they may change their minds. This series as a whole is fantastic, with loveable characters, a fantastic setting, and imaginative plots. I can’t wait to read the next!

So much fun

Giant spiders, free roaming ghosts and giants. What a fun Halloween celebration. This was a fun series with a murder to solve in each installment and few side puzzles to solve.

This probably was my favourite of the Sweet Tea Witches so far. The mystery was fun and the twist cought me by surprise. The characters are still very enjoyable and very funny.

"Southern Karma" is the sixth book in the "Sweet Tea Witches Mysteries" series by Amy Boyles. It's been about three years since I've read the first five books, and it was such a treat to revisit this wonderful series by Amy. I always enjoy a good witch story, and I love how Amy writes and captures my attention. Pepper is experiencing Halloween in Alabama, where the supernatural world is mixing with the regular world. When she wakes up the next day, she finds out that it is still Halloween. Now, she has to figure out what is going on and try to fix the issue. My favorite scene was when they went to the giant's. The ending definitely has me wondering where the series is going to go next.

Southern Karma

Amy, gosh darnit you! Why did you give us a cliff hanger?! Ok, at least there are many more books following this one, so I imagine everything will work out eventually.

I was somewhat bored in the beginning of my read, but everything picked up about 30% of the way through. Every time Rufus appears I am reminded of the havoc he’s caused in town and with Pepper. However, I also remember him in the Fixer Upper series. He is the one in the black leather jacket with the dark past. It has been 4 years since I read that series by Amy Boyles, but I definitely remember Rufus. And I recall the power of the magic hammer 🔨

It’s Halloween time in town which is when the veil separating the town’s hiding spot from the rest of the world is let down. It also allows other magicals - besides residents - to enter. When Halloween is over, the veil goes back up and everyone that is a non-resident is automatically kicked out and humans memories are erased.

Well this Halloween is different and Mythica, aka Medusa, is after the guarded time watch that is guarded while in a Vault. Rufus promises that watch to Mythica and everything that normally is… isn’t once the watch is accidentally broken.

Rufus and Pepper must work together to mend the timepiece which is going to be difficult to do since Rufus is not to be trusted.

And Betty has a new bestie named Wilma who is new to town. But who is Wilma really? I’ll tell you who - someone not very good.

As far as what I said about the cliffhanger, something awful happens to Pepper shortly after she reunites two family members. The reuniting part did bring tears to my eyes because it was so sweet! But the sad part overshadowed the good. Sigh.

I’ll head over to book 7 of 28 now: “Southern Magic Thanksgiving”.

My daughter gave me this book and the next two in the series for my birthday! And you know I just had to jump right in reading them!

The drama of Pepper Dunn continues! :) This time we have Pepper and her first Halloween in Magnolia Grove! :) And what a holiday it is! Pepper's nemesis enters Magnolia Grove not to harm or hurt Pepper but to ask for her help!!!! He made a mistake and let it be known that Magnolia Grove holds some sacred magic items and one in particular: a time watch! Now he is being hunted and a gorgon wants the watch she hired Rufus to get! However, the watch breaks and October 31 doesn't end! It stays Halloween for days! Pepper and her family and friends are caught in a time warp. :) Somehow Pepper has to find a way to fix the watch, stop Rufus from getting killed, and end the endless Halloween night.

I thought this book would be "Shades of Groundhog Day (the movie) and I almost quit reading but it wasn't. I found it to be much more interesting, entertaining, and funny than the movie which I did not like at all. The core cast of characters as well as some new characters are as well-written as ever. I would like to see more of the familiars and Pepper's dragon but since the series goes up into the 20s regarding the number of books, I'm hoping the author will begin to flesh out some of the non-human characters/citizens. Oh, and as always, there is a murder. :)

Halloween is coming to Magnolia Cove. It will be Pepper Dunn’s first in the magical town. When Rufus Mayes shows up with a warning, she and Axel are cautious of him and the message. Rufus told someone about an artifact, a time machine watch, in the protective vault. The buyer ends up dead. The watch gets broken, and the town stays at 8 PM on Halloween.
The hunt is on for the murderer and the method to repair the watch.

This Witch & Wizard Mysteries is exquisite. Setbacks occur as the trio works to solve the problems. Some are in the search for the murderer. Some are repairing the watch. And some are in relationships. While, eventually, the troubles are solved, the ending is unwelcome. I have to keep going to learn what happens next in the long-term story.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Haunting. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

Part of : "Sweet Tea Witch Mysteries Books 1-10: Hysterical Southern Cozy Mysteries."

A favorite.

This equals book 1 as my favorite. Some character development of Rufas which was surprising. Pepper learned a little about her magic (which also syncs with a problem in the books. Somebody work on training her already) so hopefully soon training will happen.
Storyline was interesting as was the mystery.
I've decided that FAMILIAR PLACE is just a location now for bad news to happen. Pepper goes in to take care of animals and someone shows up with trouble or bad news.
Yet, even with my grievances about the story I still enjoyed it immensely. The first book had some new interesting ideas so really liked it and immediately went to the next book. The following books I liked and enjoyed but there was just something that they didn't quite reach. I was satisfied with this book and with the story I did really enjoy it.

Pepper and her friends are back for another adventure, and this time they’re up against something a little more unusual—a broken time clock that has literally stopped time on Halloween night. The stakes are high as they scramble to figure out how to set things right before everything is frozen forever. What follows is a whirlwind of clever antics, loyal friendships, and plenty of Halloween spirit.

What I loved most about this installment was how it balanced its humor and warmth with a surprising emotional twist at the end. The story has all the quirky fun you’d expect from this series, but it also managed to tug at my heart in an unexpected way. It’s a quick, enjoyable read that leaves you smiling while also making you think a little deeper. Another solid entry in the series that fans will definitely enjoy!

Dark wizard Rufus is back. This time he is not trying to steal Pepper’s powers but is asking for Pepper’s help. It seems Rufus told a gorgon about a magical watch that allows those who possess it to move freely through time. When Rufus finds out the gorgon Mythica plans to use the watch to create a race of gorgons to take over the world he knows he has to stop her. Of course, things in Magnolia Cove seem to get worse before they get better. Pepper and her crew will have to fight not only the gorgon but also giants to get out of the mess they are in. Rufus is a surprise in this book. He is starting to look more morally gray than black as we learn more about his life. The question is how this knowledge will impact his relationship with Pepper and the town? The book ends on a major twist. I definitely have to keep reading to see what comes next.

Great Book!

Love this series! Pepper has adjusted well to Magnolia Cove and got a family she loves in the process. While facing another disaster, Magnolia Cove is trapped in an endless Halloween. Pepper manages to uncover more of her new towns secrets as well as few about other characters, Rufus has way more to his story than Pepper anticipated.
I really enjoy the way Amy Boyles manages to update us on old characters we’ve fallen in love with while introducing us to new ones that play a big role in the story. I also enjoy all the amusing mayhem going on other then the really big issues they’re trying to solve. There was definitely some big twists at the end of this story that I didn’t see coming. Another must read by Amy Boyles!

Very Fun Read

Loved this Halloween themed story. If this were a real town, I would definitely visit it on Halloween. Of-course Pepper only gets a little fun until things start to go awry. Reign has gotten her into a pickle again. But this time, we get to see into the hearts of her boyfriend and Reign, her nemesis. Pepper and all her relatives must work together to get out of an endless time loop and save the town. This was a great story. I loved the character Paige, a young girl held slave by a selfish Gorgon. Hope to hear more about Paige. But one thing, I don't think it is healthy to keep her familiar pet shop pets in stasis so long. Who if anybody is taking care of the animals? Animal lover here.

Amazing read!

In this book, it is halloween. Pepper gets a visit from Rufus who needs her help. A gorgon wants a very rare supernatural item that could cause chaos in the wrong hands.
Pepper and Axel agree to help but something goes wrong. The gorgon is killed. Pepper becomes a suspect.
Time stands still. They are cursed to live halloween again and again.
It was interesting to learn of Rufus past and why he became what he is. Pepper and Rufus interaction gets explored and a more softer side of Rufus is seen which is remarkable. There is a sense of 'something' between the pair.
I knew who the murderer was from the beginning. It was an interesting mystery.
The ending was very sad and i wonder how Pepper will deal with this event.

Oh this was so good! This was a bit darker and gritty than the first few books. About a third into the book I figured out the murderer and as her plans were laid out it made so much sense. The time watch was a really cool twist to the story and I love how things were heating up between Pepper and Axel. It doesn’t surprise me at all that Rufus has feelings for Pepper but I don’t like that she may have a twinge of romantic feelings for him. I’m glad little Paige was reunited with her grandmother. Paige’s red hair and Florence’s story about her daughter kind of gave it away a bit. The cliff hanger of Axel leaving town and doing exactly what Pepper feared is heartbreaking. But such a great story and all the twist and turns made it hard to put the book down.

The unexpected delivery,

Another good read. When she gets the box of bats opened she doesn't expect her greatest enemy to be inside. Not only that but he comes with grim news. A gorgon is after the time watch and he has agreed to give it to her. Stealing the watch seems like a good plan but unfortunately it is not only discovered but broken. Leaving the town in Halloween Groundhog Day mode. People turning into stone, her having the powers of a gorgon, another gorgon on the loose, a young orphan and a race to fix the watch. Can they do so? Can they all work together? A good plot but Axel leaving at the end was a bit of a shock.

Pepper still has her familiar shop. She still has her pet dragon, Hugo. And, unfortunately, she still has Rufus in town.

Oh, yes, she also has a Gorgon in town that could turn anyone to stone. That is, if she wasn't turned to stone first, that is.

Then there's the small matter of a time watch. It wouldn't be a problem except for something that happens and strands everyone in Halloween-day. So you have more deaths, spiders the size of cats, tons of ghosts floating around, a spider that wants to be with her, problems with Axel as a werewolf and a good backstory for Rufus.

I thought the spiders were particularly funny and the whole story is another one that is well done by this author.

entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series

This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Pepper is a witch who lives in a small southern town with her grandmother her two cousins and her pet dragon familiar. She runs the local familiar shop and always seems to have a hand in helping the local law-enforcement solve mysteries and crimes around town. Or saving the town from some other mystical Meyhem. Redone and find out how Pepper and her cousins and grandmother and other friends save their town or solve mysteries. A very entertaining and fun series to read.

Your heart rate will soar with this one.

This book tips the scale for the Oh Crap meter that seems to be Pepper’s lifestyle.
Seriously it is like there isn’t a bit of trouble that she doesn’t manage to embroil herself let alone she fights her way to be in the middle of it.
Buckle up folks because Axel and Pepper and “he whom shall not be named” haha, are in the middle of a huge brouhaha with yet another of the super scary baddies and the super fast pace as well as the non stop action will make your head spin.
Family friendly read, collection worthy and so much fun with so many snarky and zany comments and wacky people moving in and out of the scenes.

Some of it weird and some of it good. Was about to abandon the series but I plan to continue reading them. Just with a few other books in between. Seems like the author is stretching to find plots but I will wait until the next book to determine if that's a problem.

Writing is good and character development continues. Axel (love interest and werewolf) leaves at the end - afraid he will physically hurt her when he changes. As she feared, he hurt her emotionally as she finally realized that she loved him and he loved her. Didn't like this outcome but will see what comes next.

This entry starts to give the series legs.

It is Pepper's first Halloween in Magnolia Cove and she hopes that it will turn out to be all that a Halloween in a witch town should be. Well, it turns out to be that and more.

First, Rufus shows up and beseeched Pepper for help. Really? Yikes. But, turns out a gorgon is involved and before you know it, Pepper is, um, compromised.

We meet Paige, a preteen head witch who charms Pepper and then falls for Hugo. Paige even gets to ride the little guy.

Axel, Axel, Axel. And giants.

Halloween

Rufus is back in town, he needs Pepper's help. Medusa is on her way to town to steal the time watch from The Vault. Rufus wants Pepper's help to give her a false watch. They have to give the real watch to the gorgon but Axel throws a power bolt hitting, Pepper, Rufus and Mythica reaching for the watch at the same time destroying the watch. When they look Mythica has turned to stone. Axel, Peppee and her family have to fix this. A fun story good characters keeps changing directions until the end.

Why?

Why why why would you have Axle leave Pepper when she finally has her anxiety under control? You had him do exactly what she was afraid of, leaving her when she opened her heart. He better be back because there is another story I'm reading were the same thing happen to a witch even though like hear she had another admirer. Please do not go that route! I'm began you please !

Book 6 - Southern Karma

OMG You won't believe what happens in this episode! I'm not sure exactly how I feel about the ending. Its a great cliffhanger to be sure! 🤔 Once you fall in love with the characters, you begin to feel for them, the angst as well as the happiness. Recommend you read, no heavy sex, made me laugh numerous times, always a mystery or a problem to be solved. This series is a fun read!

Pepper is about to celebrate her first Halloween in Magnolia Cove. Her celebration starts off with Rufus showing up again! He tells her he is in need of her help and that Magnolia Cove is in danger. Apparently, he has promised a Time Watch to a gorgon name Mythica. When they try to pass of a duplicate is when things turn sideways and it is now going to be Halloween until they can set things straight again!

I wanted to reach in the book and slap a character.

I love this series and I don't want to give anything away but I wanted to slap the snot out of one of the characters at one point. If you have read the series be prepared to call one of them all those names us Southern girls are so fluent with.

Such fun!

I just love these Sweet Tea Witches! Pepper is a real charmer and slowly feeling out her magic. Her wacky family is great, and the mystery is so engaging; you just can't trust that Rufus...or can you?! The guilty party is totally obvious, but that Axel!! I understand, but... Oh, well, guess everything will work out in Book 7!
