Since joining Usborne, Minna has written books on everything from pirates and gladiators to jungles and oceans. She studied Maths and Philosophy at university and previously worked as a journalist and illustrator in London, Bogota and New York. In her spare time, she loves writing stories, drawing and playing the guitar.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable review of core math concepts, from basic number theory through statistics and probability (advanced trig and calculus aren't addressed). This would be a great resource for math learners of any age, and a must-have on any teacher's shelf. It's amusingly illustrated, wittily written, and affords casual dipping in for quick, entertaining nuggets of reading. In addition to covering basic concepts, it's chock full of amusing math history anecdotes and handy mnemonics. Essential!

Matemática nunca foi o meu forte e desde o meu 9º ano que não tenho quaisquer aulas relacionadas com o assunto. Daí que quando vi este livro na biblioteca perguntei-me: porque não? Já em miúda tinha um livro desta coleção sobre física e adorava as ilustrações e a forma como o conteúdo estava organizado. Fiquei muito feliz de ter lido este livro e gostava de o ter para mim para de vez em quando o consultar. Nele são explicados os básicos dos básicos da matemática o que é ótimo para os mais novos e para alguém que como eu, também já perdeu as bases.

Personal Reaction: I love math, so I wanted to find a good math book that wasn't just all puzzles and games. This one was great because it actually was teaching you, not just giving you problems.

Read Aloud- Teaching math is already a hard concept so when the students don't fully understand something by just hearing it come from the teachers mouth, using a book is a good idea. This book makes funny scenarios using math problems so the kids can relate easier. The purpose for reading this is not only bringing math into a new light but it also shows the students how math is used in the real world. This book describes almost every job from one side of the spectrum to the other and how they use math. It is a great informational book for kids.

Independent Read- If a student is struggling with the math assignments, it would be a good way to help them out personally without holding the class back.
