Sakamoto Shin'ichi (坂本眞一) is a Japanese mangaka.
He is mostly famous for his series Innocent and Innocent Rouge.
He is currently working on #DRCL midnight children based on the classic by Bram Stoker.

Hacía mucho que no me encontraba con estos personajes.

Segunda parte de Innocent, la historia de la familia Sans Son, los verdugos de París al servicio del rey de Francia.

Al igual que su primera parte ha sido brutal, violenta, sangrienta, dolorosa y sobrecogedora.

[volumes 1-12, chapters 1-88, “sequel”/second half of Innocent] I wouldn’t recommend this to everyone, but immediately hands down one of my favorite manga of all time. I haven’t felt this strongly about the actual experience of reading a comic since Berserk. I think it’s worth reading The Climber first to see Sakamoto’s journey, but if you have an adult’s patience for historical fiction, this is an unimaginably gorgeous and ambitious and weird series filled with flaws but also a million brilliant moments. Loved LOVED lovedddddd this. It’s FromSoft Rose of Versailles with some real Kojima-style camp, and a pretty broad trigger warning for gore and sexual violence. I think that, like The Climber, it’s also slated for an official English release later this year (2025)

side note, but I feel bad that #DRCL midnight children was my introduction to Shin-ichi Sakamoto, because I surely have a WAY better grasp on his storytelling priorities and visual style now. I will absolutely be re-reading #DRCL and keeping up with it lol

This is a prequel of Shinichi Sakamoto's work Innocent. This story focus on the story of Marie-Joseph and doing her own brand of justice. This is a great adult historical drama, with fantastic visual art and story. If your in to historical fiction with in deep details such as finance, livelihood of aristocrats and one giant conspiracy. I highly recommend this.

بصراحة من ارقى واجمل المانجات اللي قريتها في حياتي، رغم اني عندي خبرة قليلة في المانجا ومافضلها نوعًا ما ولا اني من اكبر معجبينها وافضل الانمي والانميشين عليها، الا اني استمتعت بكل لحظة قريت فيها شابتر لهذي المانجا القصة راقية وتاريخية، شخصية تشارلز (البطل) تعجبني جدًا، مضطربة بين محاولة ارضاء نفسه في بدايه المانجا، محاوله ارضاء افكاره التي تُناقض بيئته وعمل عائلته في ذلك الزمن، بعدها اللي اشوفه انه تم غسيل مخه، اصبح مُجبر ان يتقبل انه يصير سيد باريس الرابع، وفعلًا صار، من اكثر الاشياء اللي آلمتني وانا اقرى واتمتع بهذي المانجا، وبرضوا كشفت لي انه فعلا تشارلز تم غسل مخه عندما بدأنا فصل جديد مع عائلة تشارلز وزوجته ، اصبح نسخة طبق الاصل عن ابيه، فيه تشابهات وفصول اصبح يذكرني جدًا بابيه وخصوصًا بتصرفاته مع ابنه، اجباره على الصعود على منصه الاعدام، اجباره على تعلم كيفيه اعدام الناس. شخصية تشارلز فيها فلسفة وعمق يعجبني كـ شخص غير مهتم نوعًا ما بالمانجا كثيرًا ولا افضلها، اما عن شخصية ماري فهي ايضًا شخصية اعجبتني، شخصية معاكسه ل شخصية تشارلز. شخصية متمردة على المجتمع المحيط بها، صعدت للمنصه رغم انه القوانين واضحه، لا تصعد اي امراة او اي انثى على المنصة لكنها صعدت وسط ذهول الجميع، فعلًا شخصية متمردة على المجتمع، هي من قادة حملة الثورة الفرنسية في المانجا، وهي ايضًا من عذبت ماري انطوانيت نفسيًا كما رأينا في اواخر شوابتر المانجا، اما عن الشخصيات الاخرى اما ظهورها قليل، او تختفي بعد شابترين واظن ان هذا العيب الوحيد في هذه المانجا، لكنه لا يؤثر كثيرًا، لانه محتوى المانجا وفلسفه الشخصيات تُغطي على هذا العيب الصغير، اما عن الشذوذ الجنسي في هذه المانجا فهو يُصور ليس كمتعة او فطرة، يصور على انه عذاب. اي شيء جنسي في هذه المانجا اراه كعذاب للامانة، علاقة لويس وتشارلز كانت علاقة ممنوعة، مُحرمة، خصوصًا ان تشارلز راينا شخصيته كانت متدينه جدًا؟ او ابدت طابع من التدين في فصول المانجا، نهاية هذه العلاقة بسبب الثوره الفرنسيه ان يقود تشارلز لويس على منصة الاعدام، ايضًا ماري راينا لديها بعض الاعجاب والاهتمام في ماري انطوانيت لكننا لم نرى اي لقطة بينهم ك تشارلز ولويس اللذين تشاركا لقطة حميمية جدًا بين بعضهما البعض بالتقبيل، بالنهاية اود ان اختم كلامي بان امدح واذكر مجددًا رقي هذه المانجا، وان فصولها ممتعة لابعد حد، وان الكاتب فعلا بذل جهد في ان يستمتع المشاهد مهما كانت اهتماماته، فهي مناسبه لكل قارئ، القصه والشخصيات التي تحتويها هذه المانجا اعجبتني جدًا، جعلتني اعيش وقت سعيد ودمجتني معها في عالمها الخاص. اود ان اشكر الكاتب لهذه التحفة الفنية التي للاسف، لن يصل اليها الكثير. ولكنني اتمنى يومًا من الايام ان تنال هذه المانجا ماتستحقه من شهرة ومن حب من الـfanbase المتخصص بالمانجا.

Que disfrute volver al mundo de innocent, con su estética de obra de arte y una trama tan oscura y profunda.

Me ha encantado reencontrarme con personajes, ver su evolución y por donde van a llevar sus planes.

Sin duda todavía queda mucha historia que contar de los Sanson.

Una locura de manga en cuanto a la estética, la historia, los personajes (partiendo por la protagonista: Marie) y la mezcla logradísima entre un palacio de Versalles decadente y una clase de instituto japonés, que se comunica mediante mensajes de texto y emoticones. En 12 tomos Sakamoto muestra la caída de la realeza francesa, el advenimiento de la Revolución y luego el Terror, sumado a la llegada de la guillotina como instrumento para los verdugos que cambia completamente el trabajo de los Sanson.

This manga is simply amazing! The French Revolution, the incredible resilient heroine who is impossible to tear yourself away from. The work on each frame and the metaphors of the mangaka leave an indelible impression.
I am writing this review after reading all the manga that have been released so far and I cannot express my admiration for this skill, manefic!🤧👌

Suite directe de la série Innocent que j'avais trop aimée (je vous la conseille!). La famille Sanson est toujours bourreau de Paris, et Charles-Henri semble être bien plus sur de lui, sûr de comment prouver la valeur des Sanson, tout en exécutant les ordres du roi il essayent d'avoir une forme d'indulgence. Mais Charles-Henri à maintenant une famille, un fils à qui montrer la voie...

Increíble todo el trasfondo que plantea Charles-Henri en la mujer que debía ser ejecutada por asesinato a su marido, para darle un giro retorcido a lo que parecía ser un fin noble por parte de la familia Sanson. Justamente esa complejidad con la que se relata la jerarquía social es lo que hace increíble la historia, no por como está escrito (lo cual por supuesto que es valioso), sino por el componente verídico de esta obra en la historia de Francia, lo cual hace sentir la crudeza y solemnidad de un relato que se siente ajeno a nuestra realidad.

Arranca el segundo volumen de la historia de los verdugos de París y ya a punto de estallar la Revolución. El tomo se compone de la venganza de Marie y el destino de la joven Marie, una embarazada de final trágico. Mientras, se siembran nuevos personajes como Robespierre y situaciones como el asunto del collar.

The art is arguable even better than before, and the story on an even larger scale.

However, I would prefer to rate it a 4.5, exactly because of that technical improvement. The only problem is things get visually and narratively messy very very often. Still beautiful, still intriguing, just very messy. Would still 100% recommend.

The focus on the children and the next situational is a mix of repetitive but still interesting, I still like Charles-Henri much more than Maria-Joseph, but her scenes are kind of cool.
There is also a great story about the horrors than are done to women in here, that is truly horrific.

Al fin puedo seguir con la historia de los Sanson (gracias Milky). Quizá es por haber estado mucho tiempo añorándolo, pero qué bien entra este tomo, señor. La revolución comienza a gestarse, y las alegorías alucinatorio-poéticas de Sakamoto son una delicia como siempre. Además, aparece Robespierre.

I know this is merely a continuation of Innocent, but it feels so much better and compelling. I suppose Marie-Joseph is just more interesting. As is seeing Charles-Henri following his own father's footsteps. The historical and political side is easier to follow and become invested in as well.
