Why make Demin the bad guy ?! His whole baby momma plot twist was just ridiculous and did not fit into the story. It just seemed the author randomly introduced that story line to break Demin and Hazel up . Hazel ultimately ending up with Yolani was just crazy. Honestly I would rather Hazel be single instead of getting back with Yolani . I hated the way the story turned out . I would check Kindle everyday to see if part three was released but this was trash and I was very disappointed. I would not recommend this and was relieved the series ended after part three . I would check out future releases from this author.
Ok so im not understanding why make Denim the bad guy? I am so hurt because he came back to get his girl just to still be sleeping with his baby mama and on top of that, got her pregnant🤦🏾♀️🤔? that whole scenario is utterly ridiculous and it doesn’t make sense, but ok. Anywho, I think Hazel should just stay by herself and raise her child and co-parent with Denim instead of getting back with Yani. I think Yani should focus more on her recovery and less on trying to build a family with Hazel. I mean if Yani wanted a kid, i don’t see why she couldn’t just go and get her real son and finish raising him. That’s the part that frosted my cookies to be honest. On another note, I’m glad that Yoshon and Golden ended up together and happy with their little family. Yoshon and Golden was the highlight of this 3 book series. Grand on the other hand, im glad that he finally got what he deserved in the long run. Grand was unpredictable and went around sleeping with any and everybody not knowing that he was sleeping with the enemies sister and a girl that had an incurable disease that she passed down to him.
Overal, I love this series. I could have dealt with just Yoshon and Golden because they took over the book. The story could have been based on them completely, but hey, the other characters stories was interesting too!!! i took off one star because of the situation with making Denim the bad guy at the end. Denim’s story should have been written to fit into the outcome of why him and Hazel didn’t have their wedding.
Whew thank goodness the cliffhanger ending in book 2 was just a dream. Big Ben came out the pen and saved the life of Yolani and Gigi as well as let us know the huge secret he and Yolani were hiding. Mo stood on business and told Hazel I’m your friend but I’m not going to be apart of the foolishness of this farce relationship between Hazel and Denim. I knew there was something wrong with Denim. He just seemed to want Hazel because she was the one that got away. And Hazel mama is trash! I don’t feel sorry for Grand but I do feel empathy for Alicia. At the end she got what she wanted. Overall this was a nice messy read and I give the series a 4!
Not my favorite. Felt like it got dragged out longer than it should have.
Denim - what was the purpose of him. He came back, “got his girl” only to treat her just as bad as Yolani did. Maybe even worse cause he got his baby mom pregnant and was lying to Hazel about the Cali house.
Hazel - she needs therapy. Girlll is bouncing back to back because she doesn’t want to be alone. I get she didn’t want to raise her child alone but going back to Yolani was not the answer. She’s barely sober.
Golden and Yoshon was refreshing! I’m so happy they got their happy ending together, they deserved that! The book could have been mostly them with side quest for the other characters and I wouldn’t have minded.
I did not want this series to end. It was so much to unpack through this series.. I loved it all...Seriously, I'm already missing this series! 😭 There was just so much good stuff to dive into. I'm a little sad it's over, but I enjoyed every single minute of it. It really made me think about so many things, and wonder why...lol...Lets not even talk about the SPICE🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶Dont RUN WALK TO DOWNLOAD IT NEEEEOOOWWWW‼️ #BingeWorthy #EndOfMARRIEDTOBROWNVILLEBULLY #LovedIT 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was hard for me. Books 1 and 2 were so good but this book was a miss for me I don’t know what happened to the characters I didn’t like it. The book was a mess and introduced characters unnecessarily.
Hazel had me so dang annoyed I was over that story line all together. She was a support character and somehow she took over most of this book.
Denim was amazing and then did a 180 after doing all that work to get her.
Yoshani and her entire story line was annoying even the aunt that she gave her son pissed me off like why are you all agreeing to the kids never knowing his family and to get mad and tell her brother that’s her son not his. Huh ma’am he was doing a bid and you knew it.
There was so much more wrong with this book. Just done waste your time. The brother Yoshon the boss but the sister kept Brownsville Bully. The title didn’t even fit the story.
I was very disappointed in this 3rd and last book of this series. This book seems so much like it was rushed and possibly written by someone not familiar with the previous 2 books. Though I was very disappointed, I still would love to see this series play out on the big screen
I really enjoyed this series. The character development was just right.. not dragged out like in some books, but also not rushed. The story flowed very well overall. My only difficulty was following the “flashbacks” in each story. Several times, I had to double check the beginning to make sure I was in the right book because the flashbacks didn’t pick up exactly where the previous book left off. They often reiterated past events without adding much new information. That’s my only complaint. That said, it’s a fantastic series, and I really enjoyed reading the characters grow and come to their senses!
This book was MESSY! The perfect series to pull me out of my reading slump. Even though this is one of Jahquel J’s older books, it did not disappoint when it came to the drama—I was locked innnnn! Too good. 10/10!
I loved this book even though i feel like it could have been a bit longer. I know we won’t get more on the characters but i love that each woman got their happy ending at the end. Overall I loved it
Whew this series took me through it. Hazel pissed me off the entire time! And her mama ain’t shit. I’m glad Yolani finally got her shit together. I love Yoshon and Golden together.
Yeah lady j I knew u would do it again but a lot of things have me puzzled how the hell yolani is comfortable being a mommie to Hazel's child but not her own damn she could've at least came in as one of Gina's good friends to be closer to her son Grand deserved everything he got cause he was foul as hell now Alicia I'm not sure about and that damn denim just pissed me all the way off with his sneaky ass oh honey and Hazel's mom was just a nasty b---- all in all I'm happy the way it ended you get mad PROPS FOR THIS ONE WAY TO GO JAH CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT READ AGAIN AWESOME JOB
I'm happy Golden and Yoshon got the ending they deserved although I felt like this story talked more about Hazel and her crazy decisions in life. I knew something was up with Denim but wow her mother??! I think Lani and Hazel still needed some time apart and possibly not get back together at all. Glad Alicia escaped before it was too late but I was a little taken back with her secret. I wanted to know more about Grape sister and why she made her crazy decisions.
This is the final book in the Brownsville Bully series and babyyyy… this one had me all over the place emotionally 😂
Yoshon stepping into the family cartel business was such an interesting turn. He’s been so set on not going back to that life, but being the only son, it made sense that he would step up when it mattered.
Golden has been my girl from the very beginning. I really respected how she handled the situation with Ashleigh. The fact that she was secure enough to let Yoshon keep that connection and even stepped up to help raise Yashleigh says a lot about her. Especially with Yoshon doing the same for Gyan. That balance in their relationship was really nice to see.
And thank God Yoshon and Grape finally handled Grand. That was long overdue. The whole scene with them pranking Grape’s sister had me crying laughing.
I’m so happy Golden got her happily ever after. She really deserved that.
Now I’m not even going to lie, I was very anti-Yolani in the first two books, but she actually grew on me here. Her storyline with Big Ben and Yairo added a lot more depth to her character. It doesn’t excuse her behavior, but it helped explain it. Big Ben getting out and basically forcing her to get clean was honestly the best thing for her. You could really see the difference once she was sober. She became way more aware of how much she hurt people. And I’m not going to lie, she’s a lot more likable when she’s not strung out 😂
Hazel though… she had me irritated for a good chunk of this book 😭 She made such an emotional decision trying to get back at Yolani. Getting married to Denim and getting pregnant just to turn around and be unsure about everything was a mess. And Denim ended up being exactly what he looked like, a controlling and manipulative mess. The signs were there. Him still dealing with his first baby mother while being with Hazel, then marrying her, getting her pregnant, and trying to move her to California to basically have both women in one situation was wild. That wedding scene had my jaw on the floor.
And Hazel’s mother? Yeah… she’s a piece of work. I could not stand her. Betraying your daughter like that is crazy.
I’m glad Hazel finally chose herself though. She seemed the happiest just focusing on her daughter and being with Yolani in a healthier space.
Overall, the series was really good. You can tell this is some of Jahquel’s earlier work. Her writing has definitely grown and has more depth in her later series like the Delgado, Inferno, and Caselli books. Her catalog is long, but I’m making my way through it. I’m excited to see what else she has!
So this finale… yeah it wrapped EVERYTHING up in the messiest, most dramatic way possible
Golden and Yoshon finally trying to settle into their life together had me relieved, because after everything they been through, they deserved something stable. But of course peace don’t last long in Brownsville Yoshon stepping into full-on boss mode with the Santana Cartel came with pressure, and Golden really had to decide if she was built for that lifestyle or not. I liked seeing her finally trying to choose herself instead of just reacting out of fear.
Now Hazel… baby Hazel had me STRESSED one last time. That marriage to Denim was a disaster from jump and it just kept unraveling in the worst way. The betrayal, the secrets, the double life?? Yeah… I was tired for her. But I will say she finally started waking up and realizing she couldn’t keep living for everybody else.
And Yolani… listen, her storyline was heavy. Addiction, recovery, truth coming out—this book really leaned into her finally facing herself. Big Ben being back forced a lot of truths out in the open whether she was ready or not.
What I’ll give Jahquel is she knows how to tie chaos together into a “so this is what really been going on” moment. Everybody’s story finally converges, and even with all the drama, it still gave closure.
Was it a little rushed in spots? Yeah. Was it still entertaining and messy in the way I expect from this series? Absolutely
Married to a Bronsville Bully 3 was an okay read. I thought that since this is the final book in the series, that some of the main characters would show some type of growth but nope. I felt as if there was too much unnecessary drama to make the story interesting when it wasn't needed. Golden threw more tantrums than her son. After getting married Hazel still didn't know what she wanted and both her and Lani worked on my nerves with their non-sense. I kind of wish the author would have left them separated and just let Lani's part of the story end with her recovery. Then there was Denim and his whole secret with the house, baby momma and Hazel momma knowing what was going on was crazy to me. It was just too much drama that I didn't feel like I could enjoy the end of the story. Parts felt rushed, skipped over too lightly as if it was nothing and every time, I tried to connect with couples it was like the author said sike, jokes on you. This wasn't a terrible series, but it is a one-time read for me. With that being said, Jahquel is still one of my favorite urban authors. I'm just realizing that her more currently released books are more my type of books.
This is a review of all three books in this series.
Was I entertained? Yes! We’re my nerves bad most of the time? Yes! Was it a good time? Also, yes!
Do I have some challenges? Yes!
I’ll start with a shout to Big Ben, the realest ever because had it not been for him we would’ve just let Yolani do whatever.
It took me a while to catch on to the fact that that lady named her sons “Denim” and “Jean”! 😳 What was a good sis going through?! 🤣😂
Okay, now…Denim was a character throughout all three books and when his skeletons fell out of the closet, we got a whole page and a half to see it, digest it and move on. Why was it so rushed? I still don’t know what all was going on or why for that matter. Seems like for the Denim and Hazel relationship to be such a big part of the series, a page and a half of revaluation and resolution was unfair to the reader. Not to mention the other impacts that the revaluation had on Hazel….we needed more.
I also don’t know that Alicia deserved as much page time as she got. Yes, there was the tie-in to Grand and the diabolical secret. But, with the way Grands story ended, was it even relevant to the storyline as a whole? My argument is, no, in the end, it really didn’t matter at all.
I’m also left to assume that with Yoshon taking on his new role, he got too busy for us readers because we got no details about that transition at all. It just is. 🤷🏾♀️ Ok…
Hazel…Hazel…Hazel…whew she made me tired! Girl, just sit down somewhere for a second and process. She was such an impulsive people pleaser. I’m still not sure that she found what she needed within. Seemed like much of the same at the end.
Yolani was a wild girl! Did we ever get an answer on how long she had been dabbling? Hazel made it seem like, now that she’s getting better she’s a different person but I wondered for how much of their relationship and “marriage” was she being a jackass? 🤷🏾♀️
But you only get one time to pull a gun on me, IDGAF how high you are. 🙅🏾♀️
Grape and Mo. IMO, another waste of good page space where we could’ve been finding out what Denim’s ass was up to!
Also…did it ever run past Yoshon’s mind that he could’ve been impacted by the news that Big Ben revealed about Grand? I mean…we knew the timeline but he wouldn’t have. 🤷🏾♀️ So what happened with that?
And Big Ben got to singing like a damn canary! Told Grape everything! 🤣😂
The epilogue also seemed rushed and like a dumping ground for information that could’ve been told throughout the story. No need to rush, I got time. Tell the sorry Miss Author.
I enjoyed the series but there were some burning questions that I was left with.
Okay, so let me start by saying I really enjoyed this book. The vibes, the emotion, the storytelling, all of that was on point. But I do not like how Denim turned out to be a cheater. The whole storyline of him spinning the block on Hazel just to get her pregnant and then cheat? That ain’t making sense to me.
I really wanted Hazel to get her real second chance of happiness either with him actually doing right, or honestly just choosing herself and staying single. As far as Yolani, I’m glad she’s actively working on her trauma and trying to heal, but a relationship should be the last thing she’s dealing with right now. Hazel getting back with Yolani felt like a step backwards. Especially after finding out that the marriage was fake after 4 years, it should’ve been a wrap after that. Also, I feel like Yolani not wanting a relationship with her own son but want to have a relationship with Hazel’s baby is crazy!! She could at been introduced as a family friend or even been open to wanting to build a relationship with him once he got older.
Other than that, though? I absolutely loved the story. It had me hooked from start to finish.

Hazel finally realized she wasn't happy with Denim and being married to him. She was pregnant with his baby trying to make her mother happy. Hazel and Yolania is back together. And Hazel finds out Denim and Cristal his baby mother are still messing around he was living a double life with two families. Cristal is also pregnant with their second baby also and Hazel is also pregnant with his baby also. Hazel mother knew and didn't tell her because she wanted her to have a perfect marriage never accepted her lifestyle with being with a women. Yoshon and Golden are finally married and happy together she finally divorced from Grand. Alica left Grand and his abusive ways and moved California. With Jean is Denim brother and Alica first love she is now pregnant with Grand son a boy. Jean has given her a job and condo and stepping up to be a father to her son. Now Hazel parents are divorced and her and her mother don't communicate and she not in her grand daughter life.AlicIa is HIV positive and living her life.
Jah can write can’t she?!?? I enjoyed reading about Yoshon and them. I just wanna say Hazel got on my damn nerves why would you up and marry that boy?!?? What pissed me cool off is how quick she became so unhappy like girl you making decisions off fear and it pissed me off quickly. But i do like how Hazel was referred to as Haze…cute as hell. I also enjoy the character’s name in these books. Golden that’s such as a cute name and I’m glad she got everything she deserved. They let Grand live to long he was such a whore and horrible person. I would love a follow up book to see how Yoshon is handling being head of the mafia if him and Golden had a baby. How much Gyan has grown and how he feels about his dad. If Golden ever reached out to Grand’s sister. If Yolani ever approaches her first born son. How Grape and Mo doing? How GiGi and Big Ben doing? I know it won’t happen but a girl can dream!
Yoshon and Golden finally got their happy ending, married, settled, and raising their kids while he runs the family business like the boss he was always meant to be.
I’m so glad Hazel was dreaming and didn’t actually lose that baby. Denim and Hazel’s mama are straight trash for putting her through all that. And if it wasn’t for Big Ben stepping in, Yolani would’ve kept spiraling. He snatched his woman/friend right back from the edge and off that crack.
I knew one of those dudes between Mo and Gianna was gonna be Grand. Mo and Grape? Perfect. Thank God it wasn’t Grand. Poor Alicia couldn’t breathe in peace until she finally left him and moved to another state. And even though it hurt her that was big of her to let Jean hear what the doctor said, she had to keep it real so everything could stay honest and moving forward.
This was a good soap opera in reading 📖 form.

Overall this was a good series and I loved it. Honestly I would’ve been fine just reading about Yoshon and Goldie. The ending was a plot twist and wasn’t a big fan of Denim and Hazel and how that ended. I really wished things didn’t take a turn the way they did but I’m happy she’s happy with Yolani. I just felt like that whole situation with the babymom and Hazel’s mom was so left field and had me scratching the side of my head lol. Then how Yolani wanted to all of a sudden be a mom and help raise the baby lol. Just so many wtf moments in the last few pages. Even the situation with Gigi and Grand and how he ended lol. My first time reading about Yoshon and Goldie was in the Statem Island series so it was good to see how they came about. Would love to read more on Grape and Mo
I loved this series so much!! Yoshan and Golden are now added to my collection of favorite book couples!!
Their story started off really fast but I loved the way that Yoshan did all that he could to prove to Golden that she deserves to be loved the right way by a man. I was so upset with Yolani at first but she proved herself and I'm happy that she overcame that addiction. I was slightly rooting for Denim until he tried to explain his BM then I knew that he was smashing her still. Big Ben was lovable from jump but even more for how he helped Yolani fight her addiction. Grand was a b**** in all ways but he took the cake with how he was gonna have sex with Gigi knowing he was JOB positive!! Great series!!
I really thought book three would be better—but it wasn’t, lol. I only kept reading to see how it all ended, and honestly, it didn’t feel worth it. This definitely didn’t need to be stretched into a three-part series.
The story was just boring, and the endings were rushed, all of these conclusions could have been wrapped up in book two. Instead of rushed in the epilogue. Why??? The cartel part was forgotten for the most part, Grape and Mo, what was the point of even mentioning their relationship? Alicia came and went lol and Denim huh??? I really don’t understand the point of that twist. Golden getting married was rushed as well. I’m honestly still confused about the overall point of the series.
