Have you read the blurb for this book? I did! And I was hooked! I couldn't wait! Bought myself a copy! Swiped to the first page and again...hooked! Especially when Chloe and Agent Liam Esposito see each other for the first time. Hello! Talk about explosions. Okay, maybe explosions might not be the best descriptive word there, then again it might be. But when two people who have been letting off fireworks (and avoiding said fireworks because of a work relationship), have a falling out (a pretty serious falling out), and suddenly find themselves face to face again...definitely explosions. Of course those explosions aren't necessarily visible to everyone else in the room, but most definitely recognized by the two creating the explosions. And, did I mention the falling out? So again, not necessarily the best type of explosions. More like anger, hurt, betrayal, I want to seriously come after you and let all my frustrations out on you, type explosions. Don't worry, no agents were hurt in the making of said explosions. ;-)

Chloe has spent the last year of her life picking up the pieces, and honestly hiding them and the hurt deep down inside. The last person she wants anything to do with has suddenly reappeared in her life. Not only that, but the fun keeps coming, she gets to work with him again to protect her cousin.

Chloe's character was fun to read. The mystery surrounding the event where her friend was killed keeps surfacing. She is grieving. She's trying to move on with life and do something that makes her happy and uses her skills, but not everyone thinks she should be an 'undercover bridesmaid'. Chloe loves helping brides by being hired to help with any little thing they need, but most importantly to help remove the nerves and stress that can come with a wedding. I loved watching her in that role for her cousin and the little asides we'd get about different weddings/brides she'd helped. I also really enjoyed watching her interact with the myriad of characters in the book. It was fun seeing how she handled different situations.

There was quite a bit happening throughout the book. FBI, jewel thieves, Chloe learning how to identify diamonds, keeping a bride happy, avoiding a very handsome agent who is too charming-ummm scratch that, he's trouble-, lots of family dynamics (all fun, especially the grandma-hee hee), and trying to discover the who, why and what of everything before the wedding happens and trouble strikes.

I was trying to piece together all the little clues that I could pull out of the story for who the bad guy was. Surprisingly, I guessed right! It's actually not very obvious, the author did a great job casting doubt on multiple characters and leaving little breadcrumbs for us readers to follow if you're paying attention. Very well done!

The grandma was cracking me up throughout the book. She reminded me of both of my grandmothers, both of whom passed away years ago. While reading, I was thinking back to my wedding and one of my grandmas wanting to have a snowball fight with me and my husband, because well, we're all a bunch of teases. She decided not to because we were all dressed up but she was really tempted since it was the first snow of the season and she loved a good snowball fight. Well, jump ahead a couple weeks later and we were at another wedding and another great snowfall had happened. As we were walking to the cars, my grandma pulled me aside, picked up a handful of snow, made it into a snowball and grinned at me as she sneakily went up to my hubby and nailed him. Oh, it was awesome and a cherished memory. My hubby's face...total shock that sweet little grandma would catch him unsuspecting, then he realized the snowball fight was on. Chloe's grandma has some great comedic relief lines and is full of spunk. A great character for sure!

I'd be remiss if I didn't say that I loved all the moments between Chloe and Liam. Yes, I said explosions earlier in my review referencing these two, and yes, there are explosions throughout that have to do with these two. And I loved every minute of it. I didn't want to set this book down, and I honestly didn't want it to end either. I need more Chloe and Liam please! Oh, maybe a little novella about them when they first met???? Just throwing that out there. Hee Hee!

I was a very happy reader with how everything came resolved in this book. If you enjoy clean romance, suspense, humor, weddings, not too crazy brides and a whole lot of family and fun...then I highly recommend this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

Content: Clean. A few moments of peril but nothing graphic. Kissing but nothing more.

My own personal copy.

Happy Reading!!!

I've been on a suspense kick lately and when I saw this pop up on my feed and read the synopsis, I grabbed it and jumped in. I thought this had a fun premise and setting, throw in the whole lost-love angle and I was hooked.

Chloe was a likable main character, after loosing her best friend during an FBI assignment she gives up that life and becomes an undercover bridesmaid. Kind of a fancy assistant to the bride. She's not to happy when her old crush Liam shows up needing her help on a job. I liked Liam, but wish we could have gotten to know him a little better. I thought they had good chemitry and think they should have had more page time together.

The suspense was just okay for me. Seemed more focus was on the wedding and wedding plans and less on the suspense. I wasn't sure why they were going after Chloe, to the point of almost killing her a couple times. Didn't seem necessary so I wasn't sure why they'd jump from white collar jewel theives to murderers.

Overall, I liked it! A fun setting, likable characters and enough suspense to keep me on my toes!

I'm always a fan of a suspense that keeps me guessing and this one did just that. Don't get me wrong--there was plenty of light-hearted romance and fun, but that element of mystery was just the right amount to really add an interesting dimension to the story.

Chloe is perfect for this new job, since she's a former FBI agent and is now a professional bridesmaid. Her cousin is getting married and Chloe's skills are needed to protect some expensive diamonds from being stolen. Chloe is capable, resilient, and strong and just the right person to calm any wedding jitters.

Liam is a big part of the reason why Chloe left the FBI and he's now on the scene again. I don't know how that girl could resist his charms, but she somehow does, although their interactions ooze a delightfully resistant chemistry.

I thoroughly enjoyed the combination of wedding plans, mystery, danger, and swoon and especially loved the culmination of it all.

Content: mild romance; mild violence

This was a quick read for me. I figured out "whodunit" pretty much from the beginning. I was kind of disappointed in the romance part of the book. There was very little interaction between the hero and heroine so I found their love for each other hard to believe... even with their past mentioned. It was a good book but I just didn't love it like I hoped I would.

Reread: 2 stars

I read this book last year, and loved it! Since then the author has released a prequel: The FBI Bride. I knew that when I read that book, I would need to reread this one immediately. (Gotta have my HEA!) That may have been a mistake though. There are several inconsistencies between events in The FBI Bride and how they are related in this book. Major ones. By reading the books the same day, they were glaring and annoyed me more and more as the book went on. And it made me sad. I love Kimberley Montpetit's writing, and I don't know why she didn't make sure everything was consistent between the two books.

Original Review: 5 stars

What a great book! Chloe had quite the interesting profession. And she was really good at it! I liked seeing her FBI past merge with her bridesmaid business, especially since having anything to do with the FBI and/or Liam was the last thing she wanted. I loved Liam! He is brave and kind. His honesty with his feelings for Chloe was so sweet. I was so glad she finally listened!

The suspense really drew me in. I did figured out the "bad guy," but not everything. I definitely wasn't expecting the direction things went.

This was a great little romantic suspense. I loved the premise of the book and the chemistry between Chloe and Liam. It was interesting to see how she misunderstood everything that had happened in the past and despite her anger and reactions, Liam still maintained a very caring attitude. The suspense unfolded very nicely. It's a great read for an afternoon and clean to boot!!! I give it two thumbs up.

This book was different from any I have read before. It is so cleaver. The idea of a bridesmaid for rent was fun and interesting. That she was an ex- FBI agent was even more interesting. Throw in her old heart throb and a great story was made. The bride was not too much of a bridezilla, the groom was suspicious and the guests were family. How bad could it be? Throw in half million in diamonds and a good mystery was made. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Thanks for the opportunity to read the story.

Enjoyable

This was full romance, action and intrigue. A former FBI agent turned hired bridesmaid is asked to be a bridesmaid in her cousin's wedding. Not only is she the bridesmaid, she is the contact for the diamonds that have been rented and her contact is a man she both hates and loves. Very well written and fast paced.

A former FBI agent is asked to be a bridesmaid at her cousins wedding and given an important assignment to protect $500,000 worth of rented jewelry that they suspect will be stolen.

I thought I had figured out who the jewel thief was but I was wrong! I love when it isn’t super straight forward and predictable.

The romance involved was clean, nothing risqué, just the right amount to make me want to read more about them and see what happens next.

This was my first book by this author and I would love to go find more by her!

Cozy Romantic Suspense Story
This cozy novel has suspense, romance, humor, undercover agents and jewel thieves. What's not to love about that? The story is fun and riveting. There are none of the boring stereotypes typical in this type of story. The rich people are nice and normal. The wedding planner is efficient, but not a Nazi. The staff are nice, intelligent and pleasant people. I loved this book! There are plenty of twists in the plot to keep it interesting. While I had guessed some of the final reveal, most of it was quite a surprise. I have read several of this author's books and they are all well -written pieces that will still be good in 50 years. I received this ARC book for free and this is my honest review.

Undercover Bridesmaid is a real page-turner, and with almost non-stop action, along with family dynamics you will be quickly hooked.
The author gives us a girl who makes her living as a bridesmaid, and as a former FBI agent she does a remarkable job of being in demand.
Now she is being hired by her cousin and a very lavish wedding with diamonds galore, and she is need to take care of the bride and the jewels.
You are going to be guess as to who the thieves are and why do they want to kill our bridesmaid? With all that goes one here, am so glad there are some great chuckles, along with some sweet romance. A book sure to keep your attention.

I received this book through Clean Wholesome Romance, and was not required to give a positive review.

Chloe and Liam

Chloe Romano is a professional bridesmaid. She hires herself out to help the bride, who is usually so stressed that she can't see. Chloe used to be an FBI agent until the death of her best friend, Jenna, also an FBI agent, during a botched drug raid. She has blamed Agent Liam Esposito, the team leader, for turning his back on his team, thus being responsible for Jenna's death.
Chloe has been asked to be a bridesmaid at her cousin's wedding, one that will be the event of the season. Featured will be $500,000.00 worth of diamonds worn by the bride. The FBI believes an attempt will be made to steal the diamonds and so Chloe is asked to assume the role of an undercover agent to ensure the safety of the diamonds by none other than Liam Esposito. Will they be able to work together or will the past push them farther away from each other?

I really liked the whole premise of this one. Chloe's job as a bridesmaid for hire made me laugh. But I felt a little bit sad for her. The whole reason she's working as a bridesmaid for hire is because of the death of her best friend in their chosen career as FBI agents. Chloe hasn't emotionally recovered and she never wants to see Liam Eposito again. Unfortunately, he shows up asking her to be her cousin's bridesmaid and to help him find diamond thieves. Her cousin, Mercedes, is the only reason Chloe even considers it.

I loved the danger in this book. Chloe had a target on her head by the jewel thieves and she had the disadvantage of not knowing who they were. I actually had suspected the person and wasn't terribly surprised. But the getting to who it actually was made this book so fun!

I also loved that Chloe was able to resolve her feelings over her friend's death and move on by the end of the book. Something I wasn't sure was ever going to happen.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that it was clean, full of action and adventure and just plain fun!

I’m finding it difficult to rate this book after reading that this was actually the first book in this series written and the first book is actually a prequel. There were quite a few discrepancies between the two books, and even in this book itself so I was a bit annoyed when I read those and it threw off the story for me. I was more involved with the first book and had a difficult time even wanting to read all of this one. I just wanted to skip through it and get to the end. After the huge cliffhanger of the first book (or prequel) I was hoping for more closure from this book. It seemed that the huge misunderstanding could have and should have been cleared up long before it was. I am still confused as to what actually happened during the raid which caused the misunderstanding because what little that was explained in this book did not all match what happened in the first book. So, yeah, because of all of the discrepancies I didn’t really enjoy either this book or the first one now.

This was a really good story. Well written and had mystery. I have to admit I knew the one guy from the moment he was introduced. I figured there were two or three working together but I didn't have the other one till the end. So well done. Kept my interest and I love the hero's loyalty.
A diamond is a girls best friend. . . so they say. Until it's your job to protect said diamonds. Keep the diamonds safe, yourself alive, and find love that's always been in front of you. That's all wrapped up in this love story, but will she run out of breath before she sees? Read it, love it!

I'm giving this book two stars because the conflict is based entirely on assumption. The main character assumes the worst about the romantic interest and never gives him a chance to explain himself until the very end of the book. I was aggravated the whole time.

Is there anything harder than being a bridesmaid for hire? Yes, there is! It’s being a bridesmaid for hire at your own cousin’s wedding, while working undercover for the FBI agent you hold responsible for the death of your best friend!

Chloe has built a great business and reputation as a very discreet and perfect bridesmaid for hire! Her days are filled with being the perfect personal assistant to the bride to be, making certain all the details for the wedding of her dreams will come off without a hitch. Her weekends are filled with making certain her brides get hitched with all their wedding dreams coming true! What an imaginative way to make a living!

Chloe was a rising star in the FBI until she saw her best friend left to die in an operation gone bad. She holds Lead Agent Liam Esposito personally responsible for her friend’s death. Now Liam shows up to be her handler on this coerced mission!

I downright adored THE UNDERCOVER BRIDESMAID by KIMBERLY MONTPETIT! It is easy to read in a few hours. It does require some thought about “WHODUNIT”, which I didn’t figure out until it was revealed in the book. The writing is good, and the plot remained suspenseful throughout! The characters are superficial apart from Chloe and Liam. The wedding and robbery are just the background for bringing them back together.

I definitely recommend you pick up a copy of THE UNDERCOVER BRIDESMAID by KIMBERLY MONTPETIT. I know you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

This is a combination romance and mystery. I enjoyed the story and the characters. Though I guessed the villains early on I could see how I could just as easily have been wrong. It wasn't so obvious that there weren't others who could have been written as the guilty one.

Chloe is a fun character with a sense of humor but is grieving deeply and allows anger to rule her responses toward Liam who she obviously still loves. I enjoyed their banter. Liam seems to have the patience of a saint when it comes to waiting for Chloe to get to a place to be able to listen to the truth of that fateful night.

There was only one part of the book that didn't feel right to me. After the fire, knowing that Chloe had suffered smoke inhalation, wouldn't the paramedic have put her on oxygen? It was unclear how she could have had that whole conversation with Liam while she was supposed to be being treated. I think some of that revelation dialog could maybe have happened at the hospital instead of on the lawn but it didn't ruin the story for me.

I was relieved that even though the cousin/bride was pretty spoiled and used to having her way she was not bridezilla. She was likable and she was grateful to everyone who helped her so we didn't have to be annoyed by her. Pretty much every character in the book was likable. Even the bad guys.

Sex: some kisses and a little mild innuendo
Language: no
Violence: attempted murder

I liked the premise of this book. Chloe has designed a business to be a professional bridesmaid. She is hired by the bride to handle family and details that are easier to do if she is a part of the bridal party. Then her cousin, Mercedes, needs her help, so that becomes a bit more complicated.

There is a possibility that Mercedes' wedding jewelry, which the family is "renting" due to the extravagance of the necklace, is going to be targeted by thieves. Chloe is supposed to work on the inside to prevent that from happening. Since she was once training to be a part of the FBI, she can handle that. Well, she thought so until she is assigned to an agent that she knows - one who was almost her former flame.

The reader can definitely see where the plot is going as far as romance. The jewelry part is mostly unpredictable although I did see a few parts coming. The family element does makes the story interesting. Overall, I thought it was a good book.

But I must admit that Chloe is a bit annoying at times. She definitely holds on to a grudge and is unwilling to listen. Then at what point, she tells a love interest that he needs to be "a good boy" for now far as expressing his passion. I felt that was a bit patronizing. But Chloe is one determined character - I will give her that.

I would classify this book as a clean romantic suspense. If this is your genre, you will enjoy this book. I know that I did wish I could spend a weekend at Mercedes' family home. Interesting details.

A family wedding/social event and a potential jewelry heist mean professional bridesmaid Chloe Romano is going to need to utilize all of her skills.

There is lots of history between Chloe and her handler (and a very fine line between love and hate). Add in the high tension and emotions surrounding the big event and the possibility the groom is a criminal, and there is no shortage of Drama (yes, with a capital D).

Chloe is intelligent, strong, and more fearless than she gives herself credit for. Her main focus is on giving her cousin the perfect day, and if that means protecting the diamonds she’ll be wearing, so be it. And while Chloe aims for a great wedding for the bride, the bride is set on matching Chloe up (because what’s a wedding without someone trying to match up the single gal).

While I had a pretty good inkling of who the villain was, there was definitely more to it than I imagined which made the story that much sweeter. With plenty of family staying at the house, there is no shortage of suspects, and Kimberley Montpetit keeps the reader guessing until the very end.

A sweet read with plenty of romance and a good mystery to keep me reading quickly and those last couple chapters are so worth the wait!

This is the first novel I have read from this author & I am eager to discover what her other ones are like.
This was a clean read - with kissing & flirting.

To give a quick rundown:
We have the handsome (aka swoon worthy) & patient FBI hero, Liam. Then we have our spunky & beautiful ex-FBI heroine, Chloe. They both have a bit of a history together & are mutually attracted to each other but due to a misunderstanding Chloe hasn’t had anything to do with the FBI (especially Liam) for a couple of years. Circumstances throw them together once more & they are working together again... much to Liam’s glee & Chloe’s dismay.
Now, Chloe not only has to help her cousin in her professional capacity as an undercover bridesmaid, but she will have to do so whilst trying to help our favourite hunky FBI agent prevent a jewel heist, working with him to catch the thief, all the while trying to do so without losing her heart in the process. Diamonds might not be a girls best friend after all.
Now I don’t want to give away any spoilers... so read the book hahaha
I received my copy of this book for free. This review is entirely my own opinion but think this was a fun read & plan on keeping an eye out for more of the authors books :)

I wanted to read this book because the first book left me hanging.

Chloe starts a business and becomes an undercover Bridesmaid. Apparently some brides don't have someone who can stand in as a bridesmaid, so Chloe is there to do the job. She does whatever the bride needs her to do. It's been almost two years since her days in the FBI and the death of her friend and the death of her relationship with Liam. She blames Liam for the death of her friend and for not reaching out to her during that tragedy - but she doesn't know the truth.

I didn't read the whole story, just the parts where she and Liam interact, skimming through the other parts. Chloe's cousin is getting married. She has rented some very expensive jewelry to wear for her wedding and the FBI expect someone to try and steal them, bringing Liam back into Chloe's life, right where she doesn't want him to be and it brings back a lot of feelings she thought she had killed. But Liam is Liam and he just loves her and is there for her and it softens her up enough for her to finally want to hear what he has to say.

I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I've read this author's YA books and enjoyed them very much, so I was excited to try one of her adult books.

Unfortunately, I found I had a difficult time getting into the book. I just didn't care about the characters enough until over half way through the book when the action finally picked up. There was too much background wedding planning talk that didn't really move the plot forward. The love/hate relationship was predictable and never surprised me and the "bad guys" were easy to pick out and based on Chloe's former FBI training, I found it unbelievable that she would be so easily fooled.

I did end up cheering for Chloe and Liam, and I loved the grandmother's character the most. This was a quick, clean romance read with only kissing and hand-holding, which I appreciated very much.

A crime solving second chance romance book.
Chloe left the FBI after a disastrous operation and started z business as a bridesmaid for rent.
She blames her leader and crush Liam for the death of her best friend. But there is something she does not know.
A cousin contacts her to rent her as a bridesmaid because one bridesmaid went to Africa, one is pregnant and her sister dropped because she is now a minamilist and thinks the wedding is too extravagant. But she also wants her to be security for the half million dollars jewelry they are renting because there is a diamond thief that might try to steal the diamonds in the jewelry.
Also the FBI liaison is no other than her crush Liam.
Will she give Liam a chance to explain what really happened during the operation her best friend died from?
Who is the thief?
Will she survive the wedding?
