Ever been curious about how a BDSM relationship begins? Intrigued but not sure you want to experience it? Follow Charlie as she embarks on this very journey after meeting Xander, a Dom who has lived this lifestyle for the last twelve years. Edge will take you to the very beginning, letting you explore every single fear, emotion and struggle. The story will give you a look into the adventures of vetting time, leading to their first session.
This book was amazing it pulled me in from the start and had me turning pages as what started out as a simple friend request for a Author that grew into a friendship to a lovers relationship to more of a deep bond between Xander & Charlotte (Charlie) as he shares his life as a Dom and to see if Charlie would ever want join him and be his Sub. This was a different kind of book that I've read before and quiet honestly I couldn't put it down the MC's just had a way about them as the author describes in detail everything their feeling, their thoughts about each other that it's almost like your on the outside looking in and watching to see what happens next. This is just book 1 and I can't wait for book 2 as their story continues. I definitely would recommend reading this book.
Meet charlotte aka Charlie a 28 year old elementary school teacher. Currently single & enjoying life with her friends. One friend Leah introduces her to an author takeover online. Charlie is intrigued by X.A. Taylor & checks out his profile eventually sending a friend request.
Meet Xander the author, He accepts Charlie's friend request & begin messaging each other daily. They begin to build a good rapport. Xander feels draw to her but is worried that his lifestyle may put her off as he enjoys BDSM & is a lifestyle Dom. He decides to wait a little while, before telling her
The months go on & now they are chatting every day. They arrange a date to meet face to face, which goes very well, they meet again & on the 3rd date Xander tells Charlie about his lifestyle. Charlie is shocked but intrigued & after talking about it & alot of thinking she decides to try it.
Things start off well, obviously Charlie has her doubts but Xander is very patient with her as he really wants this relationship to progress. It does at Charlie's pace, she begins to understand what being in a BDSM relationship is really about & how wrong she was to assume the worst. They become closer than Charlie would have thought & she soon makes the decision to move on to the consideration time, which is going to be more intense for her though she will soon find out how pleasurable the lifestyle is.
This is the author's first book and it did not disappoint, it may sound familiar Dominant man & a vanilla woman. However the book explains the different stages of how the process of finding the right Dominant or submissive works and the various stages to ensure that you are compatible with each other &; that you both want the same things from the relationship. Charlie was not thrown in at the deep end by Xander, he was patient and let's her take thing at her own speed. There is sex scenes within the book which are very well written & descriptive. It is wrote from both of the main characters point of view. I really enjoyed this book it was fun & enjoyable read. Only problem is now I have to wait for book 2.
Edge, a BDSM Romance By the title, you would think you'd know what to expect, but you would be so WRONG. While highly sensual, this book puts the accent on bonds, discovery, and learning, not to mention it's unbelievably sweet, witty and funny. Written from a dual point of view, we have Charlotte aka. Charlie, a sweet vanilla, and Xander, an experienced Dom. We mainly follow Charlie, guided by Xander, as she discovers step by step the surprising and enchanting world of BDSM, along with her potential and sexuality, but we also see Xander as he notices new things about himself. That would be it in a few words, as I don’t want to be a spoiler, but there is so much more to this book. The distinctive look on relationship development, trust, and communication place it on a different level. This is not just a book that you can read, fell in love with the characters and then once finished you can start another. No! This is a book you can learn from. A book that makes you ask questions and find answers.
This book is definitely surprisingly different what I have read before. It is a well-written, slow sensual journey into BDSM world. I have not expected how romantic and sweet or educating this story will be or how the accent, the main plot isn’t about sex. But instead, the emphasis was placed on the relationship establishment and growing connection between two people, teaching Charlie about darker lifestyle intricacies and trust.
Xander (X. A. Taylor), an intelligent man, who is also an indie author with an ordinary day job and Charlie, who is very beautiful, sweet, the witty soul who works at elementary school, does not fall into this relationship over their heads as we used to see in so many romance novels. No, those two begin the sensual journey of BDSM together very slowly. Once they meet during the online author takeover, their story begins.
After they get to know one another, Xander guides Charlie through the process that is called vetting time. This way they begin to establish boundaries and trust, before diving into the lifestyle or even considering of trying to begin this sensual journey of self-discovery. Xander patiently teaches Charlie about the BDSM and gives her taste of what it is like to belong to Dom or submit.
Usually, this kind of books, make me feel very conflicted, but with this first installment in the series, I felt like author slowly guided me into the lifestyle. Besides characters there very relatable and lovable. It is definitely worth reading and learning about intricacies of the lifestyle. I definitely recommend this book and will be reading the next one to see how their relationship progress.
Edge: A BDSM Romance is the first book that I have read by this author. And, it looks like Drew A. Lennox is a new author. Only two books published & a third coming soon. With Edge being his first book.
Wow! I loved reading Edge. Xander has a day job and is an Indie Author, X. A. Taylor. Charlie aka Charlotte teaches elementary school. Her BFF, Leah takes Charlie to an online author takeover and Charlie decides to make friends with the author, online. Never thinking he would respond to her. The story continues from there.
We get to see how a Lifestyle Dom (Xander) takes Charlie through the vetting process of how to become a submissive. Charlie is interested but scared and never thought in a million years that her life would go in this direction.
I feel that this is an original story line. I have never read BDSM book that takes you through processes of becoming a submissive. Oh, I have read books where the submissive may be new to it and already have submissive tendencies. But, this book has taken someone that has never thought of herself as submissive at all. Never really heard of the lifestyle.
There are a few LOL moments too. I loved the Vase story. (you will just have to read this book to know what I am talking about).
I enjoyed Charlie’s character. She asks a lot of intelligent questions (I thought) during the vetting process and now she is ready to begin the next step into the consideration process.
I have read a lot of BDSM books but, have never seen these steps before. And, if there really is this process I think it’s a good one. So, you learn what you are getting into before you get into it.
This book is hot and sexy while Charlie is learning about BDSM and both she & Xander are forming their relationship.
The Ending of Edge leaves you with wanting more (in a good way). And, guess what there will be more soon. Looks like Feather, book 2 will be out in September and I have already preordered it! I give this book 4.5 stars and Drew A. Lennox you are off to a very good start.
Amount of sex 4 / 5 How explicit is the sex scenes 5 / 5 Amount of BDSM/Fetish 5 / 5 Story 4.5 / 5 Overall: 4.5 / 5 Review: Xander and Charlie are so adorable. A romance for a modern age as girl meets boy via message board and texting builds their relationship. Xander is an author that Charlie's friend follows. On a whim, Charlie messages Xander kicking off a romance and a journey that neither of them quite expect. See Xander is a dom and Charlie is vanilla. Despite their long distance from each other, both of them form a bond that feels deeper than either of them have experienced before.
Edge is a lot of build up that is heavy into the tease. It fits well with the story as Charlie explores her untapped submissive side and Xander falls for her and enjoys showing her his lifestyle. For the uninitiated, this is additionally a great primer for what a BDSM relationship is supposed to be mentally rather than just the physical.
I liked the book very much. It was fun to watch their romance build. I don't think the blurb does the book justice as the book is just as focused on the romance as it is on the BDSM aspect of the relationship. It is worth going on this romantic adventure with Xander and Charlie!
I enjoyed this new book by Drew A. Lennox. I'm a huge fan of the BDSM genre, and Xander and Charlie were a surprise. I'm used to stories where both--or more--partners are experienced in the lifestyle, and I love it. Or usually an experienced Dom meets a girl w/submissive tendencies, and the Dom introduces her to the wonderful world of D/s. Well, this story was a bit different.
Xander is an experienced Dom, and author of BDSM romance. Charlie meets Xander through social media after attending one of his author takeovers. Charlie is a girl w/submissive tendencies, and really doesn't understand the D/s lifestyle. I really enjoyed this book because Xander slowly takes Charlie through a process of becoming a sub, all while they're both getting to know one another. Xander explains everything to Charlie as they go along. She missteps and has her punishments and pauses, but she's really getting to know Xander, both as a man and Dom. This was a good first book, and there were topics and characters in this book that I'd like to see explored more.
We meet Xander and Charlie in this magnificent book. It's not the usual in your face BDSM book where it's more focused on the sexual part, which was a breath of fresh air. The story focuses on the raw, deep down basics of the lifestyle.
Xander is an experienced Dom and Charlie is an inexperienced vanilla who has some submissive tendencies. Xander slowly introduces Charlie into the world of BDSM. It's an amazing story to read because it focuses on everything besides the sexual need of the lifestyle.
I'm pretty familiar with this lifestyle but I learned things that I did not know. I didn't know there were different steps to take to build this type of relationship, just figured people jumped in and did their thing. So, it was great to see that there is more to it than that.
If you're looking for the in your face, nothing but sex scenes, this isn't for you. It's slow moving and a learning tool written as a story and that's the amazing part about it. I loved it and it was so hard to put down! You won't be disappointed by picking up this book. It's great.
This is not your usual BDSM romance. Edge starts at the beginning of a BDSM romance with Charlie and Xander. In this sweet story, Charlie is slowly initiated into the lifestyle with the experienced Xander in a caring and direct way. The story builds upon itself, showing the close bond of trust, friendship and love that is formed between the characters. It is actually refreshing to see an author reflect the need to take this type of relationship slowly with vetting and romance rather than the characters jumping right into the fantasy of this lifestyle. Not only is Edge entertaining but it is a teaching story for those thinking of finding a new partner whether in a vanilla or BDSM relationship. I highly recommend this fast paced, enjoyable story. I’m looking forward to the sequel.
Ok, here we go. Please sit down, buckle in and listen.
This is the beginning of Xander and Charlie's story. A BDSM story. This is an education for Charlie as she has always had vanilla sex. Xander guides Charlie on her journey into the BDSM world. He is tender when needed and a Dom when warranted. Charlie and Xander get to know each other as the book progresses.
This is like a how-to book for readers who want to get a little taste of BDSM and understand what can all go on in books. It's a good way to test the waters for other BDSM books.
Charlie is sassy. Yet, she has submissive tendencies that she was unaware of.
Xander is a Dom, yet not. He wasn't dominant enough for me. I'm used to a heavy hand and aggression, but Xander kept himself in check because he knew if he scared Charlie she'd run. So kudos to him for keeping a balance.
What I liked most about this book is that it showed the deeper connection that a Dom/sub have to have in order to successfully have a BDSM relationship. It’s vital. But in most BDSM books, because it isn’t very sexy (or easy to portray as sexy I guess) it gets over looked. The sex scenes seemed a little like Mr. Lennox hasn’t quite caught his breath with writing down the primal urges between a man and a woman yet, but I believe this is his first book. I hope he doesn’t use “sex lips” in the future (lol). I couldn’t help but cringe every time it was used. I enjoyed the book enough that I’ve added Drew A Lennox to my list of authors to watch for, so that I can see him evolve.
This is unlike any other BDSM book you have read. Consider this a slow burn that just builds your fire. Edge grabs you from the get go and doesn't let you go. By the end of the book you are wanting more. This book could be one that you read over and over.
What I liked about Edge is that follows Charlotte a newbie to the lifestyle, who meets Xander a Dom. This is his chance to bond with a newbie sub on what it takes and what it is like in the lifestyle. There are some challenges Charlotte must learn to accept or face punishment. Charlotte soon realizes that she can trust and be free with Xander.
My oh my, Edge - the first book of Discovering BDSM by Drew A. Lennox - was absolutely wonderful! Romantic and realistic, it had a fantastic couple I just fell in love with, and was told so beautifully, I longed to see Charlie accept Xander's collar, and yet I never wanted the book to end.
Edge is a romance between an experienced Dom and a woman who is as vanilla as they come. It is the very definition of a slow-burn romance, and one that progresses quite naturally from social media, to text messages, to phone calls, to dinner dates, to . . . well, so much more. Normally, I am not a fan of stories that are so heavy on conversation transcripts, but here that narrative style really works, largely because Lennox intersperses those exchanges with the characters' thoughts, revealing hidden subtexts and teasing the next stage of their relationship.
As for the BDSM aspect, this may very well be one of the best novice explorations I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Xander carefully chooses how and when to reveal his lifestyle to Charlie, and is understanding when she is initially shocked and resistant. There is no pressure there, and her hesitation does not derail their relationship. Instead, it leads to a discussion about the lifestyle, and a slow process of vetting, which is marked by tasks, questions, and long-distance punishments. Through it all Lennox does a wonderful job of capturing Charlie's excitement, her fears, her desires, and her concerns, allowing us to believe in her transformation into a woman who craves the collar.
Largely non-sexual, Edge is still exceptionally erotic, and it makes for a fantastic exploration of submissive sexuality. While I suspect there are whips and chains in their future, this period of vetting is all about verbal commands, simple tasks, the denial of coffee as punishment, and the use of masturbatory edging to increase the need for Xander's touch. This is a story about a lifestyle, about a deeper relationship that involves being owned and care for, not about one-off games or dungeon fantasies. I have never walked away from a book that I so genuinely felt I could live, right now, right here, without altering anything about my life, and that is the best kind of romantic fantasy . . . the one we can dream of attaining.
This was an incredibly interesting book. It is a love story about two people from different worlds who fall in love and try to make it work. There is an incredible amount of love, trust, and all kinds of positive emotions in this book. And although I did not identify myself with either of the parties, I enjoyed immensely reading about their journey into a relationship. The author’s writing is excellent, engaging and informative, as he explains the BDSM lifestyle step by step, and goes into all the details involving trust, love, and acceptance. The characters are developed so well that by the time you reach the book, you know them as well as you would your close friends. The love, trust, and connection between them is amazing, not to mention complete acceptance. It is a slow burning romance, but make no mistake, when stuff happens it is sizzling hot and beautiful. This book is a great read not only for the followers of the lifestyle, but for everyone who is curious about how it might be, and for those who need to be informed before forming prejudice. I enjoyed it immensely and I can’t wait for the next one - Feather.

This is the (very long winded) journey of a complete vanilla woman into the 24/7 lifestyle. I actually should have DNFed when the hero said he was into the 24/7 stuff (I never get that) but the few reviews here on GR were all but raving and so I continued. It’s very slow burn very long and I discontinued when in book two the hero tells her this new set of rules of when to get up, to go to bed, to do this and that, to message him every 30 min when she’s out with friends and all I could think was hell no, he’s too clingy - and that’s from someone who loves possessive guys. There’s a lot of talk about the lifestyle but very tame kink scenes if at all. Maybe this will change in the later installments but I won’t read them. Kink in the bedroom hell yes, but I just don’t get the other stuff. To each their own. DNF

I love this story. I love the reactions that we feel Charlie feels as she learns her way through living as Fender does. I hate it is a cliffhanger. I despise getting to a pivotal moment then...bang, left hanging. It's cruel and some people these days struggle to pay for the next book. I fully understand it's a sure fire way to guarantee a purchase, or so its thought, but I wonder how many think...other books out there not going to leave me dangling that are cheap or on sale, will grab them instead. I very rarely buy the next book. It has to be a book I find truly impossible to put down. This one could well be that book. It is that good. But please give us a full story sometimes.
Wow. What a wonderful story. Totally unexpected. This story follows Charlie’s introduction into the D/s lifestyle. It encompasses what for the most part is an introduction into BDSM beginning with the Vetting Time. This is very crucial to start to any dynamic, and the author nailed it! The author tells a story like none I have read. In today's social media atmosphere, this story, I am sure has held true for so many. By the end of this book I found myself cheering for Charlie. To see her open herself up, challenge boundaries, and to grow into a D/s dynamic. I am looking forward to reading Drew's next book. I highly recommend this book to not only people new to BDSM, but to seasoned practitioners as well.
A well written story of alternative lifestyles. Xander and Charlie’s relationship unfolds as the author describes the inner thoughts and a clear dialogue of the MMC and FMC in a manner that explains their D/s relationship clarifying to the reader the unique bond, power exchange and safe consensual aspects of the lifestyle. There are surprises that make the reader smile . Charlie’s mother finds her collar on the table and asks did you get a dog ? No, “we watched a friend’s dog. Considering Charlie’s parents are very religious and the collar has F Toy on it and Charlie’s dad chimes in with do you call out the dogs name to come in ? Xander and Charlie are taken speechless. It’s hard to put down. The book is Struggle by Drew A. Lennox

Edge introduces us to the D/s world from the point of view of an experienced Dom, Xander, and Charlie, a newbie who, through her emotional connection to Xander, chooses to go on a journey of self discovery and learning. This is romance with a difference; with the characters building a solid emotional connection, and communication, knowledge and trust being the most important factors of their potential new relationship. Not forgetting the panty melting scenes, this book was beautifully written. It was a really enjoyable and interesting read, I can't wait to read book 2.
A very enjoyable debut from Drew A Lennox. We're introduced to Charlie as she gets involved with an author takeover, for the very first time. She sends a friend request to the author, who accepts. Thus begins a friendship that develops to calls and so on. Xander is the author. He's also into the BDSM lifestyle. This is a tale of her being introduced to the lifestyle, slowly, by a Dom and of how their feelings develop for one another. Lovely read and I look forward to the continuation in Feather: A BDSM Romance.
Three and a half stars Enjoyed this book it was just a bit slow paced for me. It’s a great storyline. After attending a takeover Charlie submits a friend request to XA Taylor. She didn’t expect a response straight away and she didn’t expect a message from him either. They hit it off consistently sending messages to one another, it progresses to video chats and phone calls. Eventually they meet and Xander tells Charlie about his BDSM lifestyle. Then he takes his time introducing her to his preferences and punishments.
If you are expecting this book to be like other BDSM books you have read, STOP. It isn’t. It is completely different. This tells the story of a BDSM relationship as it’s being built from the foundations up. It is about a Dom introducing a sub to the lifestyle in a slow and responsible manner. I really struggled with the pace of the story- to me it just felt as though it took so long to get to the next level, and no I’m not referring to sex lol. I think I am more accustomed to stories developing at a quicker pace, like racing down a highway and this is more of a meander through a park.
I devoured this awesome story about Charlie, a woman who discovers a new world of BDSM, and Xander, a Dominant who’s also an author, introduces her to it. Their online friendship blossoms into a deep connection, and their chemistry is undeniable. This sensual and intriguing tale had me hooked from start to finish. I loved watching Charlie and Xander navigate their relationship and explore the world of Dominance and Submission. I'm excited for the next book in the series! 🤓
“I believe when you meet the one, you’re destined to be with, that does not happen. The love you share trumps everything, and you fight to keep it alive, always. You never stop communicating. It’s so important,” he says. “Once you stop communicating, the walls begin to crack. If you’re not careful, the walls will continue to crack until they collapse.”
“Most couples love repairing with band- aids, hoping that things will fix themselves. The problems never fix themselves, and after a while, things fall apart, and people become bitter. I don’t fix things with band- aids. I search for the root of the problem, mending it before it even has a chance to start cracking."
What a fantastic book! I am quite taken by the complete story line. Very different than other BDSM books I have read. What I love most is how the author walks your through the development of the relationship and bond. It's not all about the sex. You have Xander whom is experienced in the lifestyle and Charlie who knows next to nothing but is so willing to learn. Everything about this book is perfect!!! Looking forward to "Feather" and their continual growth both mentally and physically.
This was my first read from this author and I was not disappointed. I read it within a day as I could not stop reading it. it kept my interest up throughout the whole book with the characters and story.
I always have a hard time relaying my thoughts in a review as I basically want to talk about the whole book but then it would be spoiled for others that if this is a genre you like to read then I think you will be happy with this one.
Edge was the first book that I have read by Drew Lennox and I loved it! Definitely not your typical BDSM story; I was completely drawn from the very beginning and couldn’t wait to see how Xander and Charlie would navigate their way into a true dom/ sub relationship. What I loved most about Edge is that not only was this an amazing story; but I really felt like I learned some of the true ins and outs of a dominate/ submissive relationship. I can’t wait to read Feather!
I feel like I'm getting a peak inside this Authors real life! I found this story to be factual and informative, but never boring! Xander an Author was doing a take over and Charlies friend want to be online for it! Charlie found him to be fun and charming, so she joined his group. Xander and Charlie form a relationship, but there are differences in the perception of relationship. I found the story to be fun and "SASSY", while Charlie discovers herself. ON to book 2 Feather!
