The Hunters #2

A Mate to Sacrifice

Rate this book
Growing up the daughter of a gang member, Peyton didn’t exactly have a life filled with cupcakes, family holidays and daddy-daughter dances.
Not unless you counted a trip to the prison to visit your daddy a family holiday.
So what does she do? She stupidly accepts a proposal from the first man offering an escape.
He was supposed to help her.
Instead he left her for dead.

A female of their dreams…
On the hunt for a murderer, no one is more surprised than Caden and Sangel when they come across a fragile, tiny, human female — with a backbone of steel and a mouth like razorblades.
She is everything they ever wanted. But when her past comes back to hurt her, will they lose it all?

This book is part of a series and probably best read in order.

Laylah loves reading, but she particularly loves a good romance with some seriously alpha men. Protective, possessive men with large hearts. Writing has become her passion and she hopes her readers enjoy her stories as much as she does writing them.

Great series

This book had some hard moments, but they were handled well. Three broken people that somehow fit perfectly. Not fixed, just made whole.

It was okay

I give this 3 stars because I didn't really care for how stubborn they made Peyton I know authors want their heroines to come off as independent, take no crap from no man but dang sometimes they go over board. In the first part of the book Caden and Sangel were led to Peyton she was tied up after having been knocked out and stranded for a couple days covered in sweat, vomit, and bodily fluids she was a hot mess. They rescued her from the burning building and took her somewhere safe until they could safely join the rest of their team. While they were hiding in a cave she had already thrown up so many times they feared she wouldn't make it til they could get her on the ship if they couldn't get her to hold down any fluids. So they fashioned a enema and had her absorb the water pack they had, when she woke up naturally she was freaked out. The guys were very calm and tried to help her understand this was for her best that she was so severely dehydrated she was risking her life by being so stubborn. But what does this very independent, mature, grown woman do? She pitches a fit tells Caden she hates him and then in her own mind she is thinking to herself how dare he?? Things that like really irritate me How dare he? Because he is trying to save your life! I understand the chick had been through so traumatic experiences with men but lot of those were because of her poor decision making. So anyways like I said it was an okay read but the heroine was a bit irritating but it was free on KU so if you have that I would say go ahead

Alien menage romance

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There are numerous grammatical and editorial errors that irritated, the usual missing words etc associated with the authors books. Why she doesn't employ a decent proof reader is beyond me because the characterisation is good with individual personalities that allow you to form a connection.
The plotline is pretty thin, but the book provides an opportunity to escape from reality for a few hours.
There is very little sci-fi and almost no alien differences, but it's a guaranteed HEA romance.
There are a couple of sex scenes and some swearing

I liked this book, but it didn't truly hold my attention like I expected based on the synopsis.

I enjoyed Peyton's interactions with her guys, but only after she began to trust them. I understood her hesitance, but I didn't connect with her background as a character to justify the venom she hurled at them. The fact that she insisted on things being her way when well aware that aliens did things differently left me disliking her character. Did I expect her to just fold, no, but compromise and common courtesy would have been nice.

Overall, it was a decent read.

My kind of book

I’d read the first book and enjoyed it. I was pretty happy to find the second book was available. This book had a lot less erotica than I’d expected. It was more of a romance with a couple of sex scenes. I also felt there was a lot less to this book in terms of substance and depth than the first store. I still enjoyed the book though and would love to read a third novel in the series.

Even though this is my kind of book, i don’t think the quality quite reaches 4 stars.

An absolute gem of a story. Caden and Sangel are so good and sweet to Peyton. The world building is phenomenal and the characters are unique and creative. A love story from the stars. The hunters are after Peyton’s ex when they find her almost dead. The story has a little bit of everything that makes it a great book. If you like Sci-fi romance with heat and sweetness this is the story for you.

Forever

Such a sexy, exciting fated mate story with an alien twist!! Peyton is left for dead and Caden and Sangel are desperately seeking their mate to complete them. Peyton finds it impossible to trust men but these two sinfully sexy aliens prove to her just how right they are together. Swoon!

Good

I enjoyed the story, it had a good pace and likable hero's. The heroines secret was a bit of a key down, don't know why she made that such a big deal?!?! But overall a quick easy read.

I thought this book was very good and more fleshed out than the first. Peyton's stubbornness was more than a bit annoying- I understood what the author was trying to achieve with a strong independent lead who doesn't take shit from anyone but it did make the book go slower for me

A Mate To Sacrifice by Laylah Roberts – See the problem with starting a series before all the books are written is the waiting when you run out of books! This is a cool series! Love the world building! Happy Reading!

An Good Story

The storyline is great, the characters are fun, and the intimate spots are hot and juicy. I am hoping she continues this series of books as I want to know how the rest find their mates.

Great book

Why Amazon insist on 20 words for a review via kindle, I don't know. Especially when I just want to say that I really enjoyed this book.

Sangel might be my favourite character so far. He knew he was emotionally wrecked and tried to keep it away from his bond mate as well as the others in the crew. But when called upon to step up, he did so.
