Vesper Tallin thought nothing could top the turmoil of dealing with murder, kidnapping, and vengeful gods. She was wrong.

After everything that’s happened in the last month, Vesper Tallin needs a break. On hiatus from her consulting agency, she re-immerses herself in the art world. Working at the museum with her old mentor Edgar, Vesper dives back into her first love: sculpting.

Unfortunately for Vesper, things in her life never stay quiet for long. On the eve of her new gala, she’s dragged back into mystery and mayhem when Edgar is found dead in the new exhibition wing of the museum. Vesper longs to leave the case to the professionals, but that turns out to be impossible because this case is far more personal than she thought.

Threats from Edgar’s dangerous past come calling when she discovers he’d been dealing in more than just art and he may have played a part in Vesper’s own tumultuous past.

Unwittingly thrust into peril and intrigue, Vesper must unravel her fractured memories in order to face a new evil that threatens the lives of those she loves.

Follow Vesper Tallinn as she falls deeper into the world of the Remnant Gods...

Awesome story with rich worldbuilding, gritty UF feel and strong protagonist/female friendships. Plus alpha hero who wasn't a jerk!

Another smoking hot read from Elle Cross, and the world of the Remnant Gods, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Not only is are things as amping up with Vesper and Deimos, we have a new mystery to overcome and a new paramour to add to the relationship.
Highly recommended if you enjoyed the first book, in fact anything from Elle's pen is a certain to entertain.

I really like Vesper & her romantic interest(s). I’m also enjoying how Vesper’s story is unfolding. I’ll continue the series.

Kinda disappointed with this book... well not the story per se but with author's writing skills when it comes to transitioning from one thought to the next and leaving her readers behind to figure out where she's going and how we got there in the first place... I don't know how else to explain the disconnect I felt when it came to certain relationships or for that matter the answering of certain points the author made throughout this book. Hmmm maybe read it for yourself to get my meaning.

I did love the storyline and the characters but it just lost something for me.

GRIT - if that's not the most perfect title ever, then idk what is

Have you ever just read something so simple and beautiful but at the same time raw and profound? Because I want to introduce this read to you all.

So while I am trying to organize my review in my head, I have come to this realization that the title GRIT may give me a more thorough understanding, more insight, into the read as a whole. And let me tell you all, I got chills. Legit physical reflex when it dawned me just how perfect the title is - for the previous read and now even more so.

Let me share my brief (and convenient) research in defining the term GRIT. Grit, as explained by most online dictionaries, is firmness of character; indomitable spirit; courage or resolution in the face of difficulties. Another definition I have found is Duckworth's. She defines grit as passion and sustained persistence applied toward long-term achievement, with no particular concern for rewards or recognition along the way. Grit combines resilience, ambition, and self-control in the pursuit of goals that take months, years, or even decades.

And what do you know? Those two definitions I have plucked out of google just summarized the whole that is this read. Because, yes, this is a story of being lost, at one point, in life. Said point is Vesper's current predicament. For so long, she's been thinking her self weak and alone and broken. And honestly, it seems so subtle that it never hit me until I am now writing this review. Because what I see is this perfectly imperfect beautiful and resilient and strong and amazing heroine.

"What appears strong is not always strong. What yields, is not always weak. And broken things can be made strong again. They are not without value."

"And sometimes, there is more strength around the broken pieces."

"The steel is the result of iron being melted down and impurities being boiled off. And then other alloys are added to make it the steel it becomes. When does it stop being iron and start being steel?"

Sheeeet.Fudge.Dang. I mean, Right. in. the. freaking. feels.

So yeah, though I obviously adore Deimos, Corso, Jack and Corbin to pieces, the thick of this read is for Vesper's pivotal character growth. Written so flawlessly and seamlessly. UGHHH. Have I told you all this is perfect? Yes?

PS I FREAKING LOVE MASTER RASTABAN!

Amazing!!

Cross has done it again! I thought book one was awesome but this one is so good at taking the story above and beyond. From page one we are drawn into a story of power, intrigue, secrets, and more that is so beautifully written you won't be able to put it down. If you like the genre you have to read these!! I loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Now that Vesper has uncovered a hint of truth about herself, there's no way she can go on without learning more. In book 2, we do get the chance to learn more about Vesper- how she came to be so far from the others in her tribe and more about what she's capable of doing. Cross takes us on the journey WITH Vesper; we don't learn things about her past or powers until she learns them herself, so, while there's some progress in book 2, there's so much more to uncover for all of us.

Like the blurb shares, Vesper gets drawn into another of Corbin's cases when Vesper's old mentor is murdered. However, the case is not as simple as it seems, and the secrets involved in his death are closely tied to secrets about Vesper. I was not expecting some of the things that were uncovered, but I did find them interesting. I can't really get too specific without giving things away, so you'll have to trust me! Surprises and betrayal are in store ahead.

As we continue following Vesper's journey, we, of course, get more Deimos and Corso; I have to admit, the latter might be my favorite at the moment. There are some steamy scenes that are sure to delight those who are looking for a little romance, a little action; you won't be disappointed on that front.

The big WANT that I have is to learn more about these powerful but mysterious men. I think Vesper fell for them hard and fast, and there's definitely an imbalance in terms of what they know about her and what she knows about them. I have a love/hate relationship with romance that seems to develop without a foundation, and I'm really hoping that Vesper gets to know her men better in book 3. I like the dynamic they have, but I want it to feel more REAL.

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by this series. I have to admit, I wasn't so sure when I had read the opening chapters of book 1, but I stuck with it, and I really am glad that I kept reading. Definitely check out book 2!!

More Vesper, more fantastic storytelling, and more love revealed!

She did it again!!! I am feeling bereft now that it's over. I died and was remade during the course of this story. Everytime I read a story by Ms. Cross, I fall into the world and forget I exist outside her worlds. This stunning continuation of Grit is no exception. I was so happy to once again walk beside Vesper, see her deepening relationship with Deimos and her expanding love nest with the introduction of more men. Besides being a story about the power of love, it is a mystery, and an ever expanding world of realms and realities converging in one. The layers to the plot, to the characters and to the fabric of the story, expand and explore time and space and always leave me reeling with possibilities. There is truly no end to the imagination of this author, and I am happy to follow wherever she may lead me. We also get to spend time with the intrepid and fearless Corbin and walk some of this gritty urban landscape with our heroines. Time is truly relative in this world, and we travel the past and the present seamlessly. I loved learning more about Vesper's past, but this also brings questions about her future and her connections with the other characters in the book. For every view into V's mind we gain, we also uncover more plots and more mysteries. I love how we are teased with potential answers but never given full disclosure. This just means there will be more to Vesper's story, and I will happily fall into her world over and over again. I ran the emotional gamut with this story and with these characters. I am saddened that it is over for now, but I anxiously look forward to more Grit. I absolutely need more of these fantastical characters, and more of the rich landscape of their world. So, so wonderful, once again!!! Don't be silly, and grab yourself a copy of this book now!!! It is everything and more than you could ever hope for!

Fantastic Follow Up

I really loved this follow up to Grit. There was so much unravelled from the hints of the first book.

Vesper is deliriously happy with Deimos even if she is still resistant to moving in with him. They spend nearly every night together, no matter which house they are staying in. Vesper is also not working with humans at the moment whilst she is waiting for her memories and skills to settle after Prince Arris tore through her shields of ice. To keep herself busy she has been helping her art mentor, Edgar, work on an exhibition.

When Corbin comes calling on her for help in another murder inquiry, she is horrified to learn that the victim is Edgar. During the course of the investigation she learns that Edgar is not the man she believed him to be.

We learn a lot about Vesper’s history and about the Remnant Gods in general, in this book. There is also raunchiness, which always makes me happy!

I felt satisfied with this story and all I discovered whilst reading an enjoyable tale. The book ends with a good Happy For Now, but there is so much I want to know about Vesper, Corbin, Deimos and Corso. I really really want Elle Cross to write more in this storyline because this book really stepped up her game significantly and I believe another book will be even better than this one as even more is uncovered.

A Murder Thrown In With Surprises, Shocks & Sexy Times!!💔🙈😳🔥🔥💘
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Grit 2: The Remnant Gods #2

This was another twisty & turny story based around Vesper. In this one her mentor is murdered & then she's attacked.😲😭 Her memories say it was Deimos that beat & sexually assaulted her but she knows in her gut that it's a lie!!😡 Her bestie Corbin agreed to see him privately, for her privacy not his no matter how powerful he is!!🙏 There are alibi witnesses to place him elsewhere so he truly is innocent, so who's planted those vile & disturbing memories that she can't shake??😢😡

Vesper has to go to a 'bolt hole' to figure herself out & try to unlock her past & this implanted memory! She makes some excellent progress & knows 100% who took her as a child but not who killed her Mother ... Yet!💔😭😡 Deimos is supportive with & of her in everything, he refuses to compromise on her safety though!💘🔥💘 They share some steamy times with a couple of other guys, but all under his strict supervision of course.😉🔥🔥 Then the bomb drops, figuratively, at a meeting!💥

I did enjoy this read but I REALLY want Corbins story too!🙈 I'm not a fan of wishy- washy double speak so that annoys about the gods!😔 I would read more if there were any!!😍

A Full Five Stars From Me!!

I definitely do not have the right words to describe this book basically it has rendered me speechless!
But I will say this and that is I absolutely positively love this book!
Elle Cross definitely knows how to weave a story that you just get totally lost within it and you completely lose track of time until you get to the end of the story and you raise your head and you’re looking around trying to figure out where you are and what reality you are in.
I always thought Grit was amazing but I gotta say Grit 2 just blew the first book out of the water and left me in awe at its amazing raw beauty!
Basically each book that I read by Elle Cross just gets more fantastic than the one before it.
So yes I do recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for a masterpiece to crawl into and get completely lost within its pages!

All hail the queen savage with another amazing book so this book has to of my favorite things sex and action. The book take a nice start with vesper and my lover demios and can i say i love where this relationship is going. So intense so much love even when vesper know he hiding something she know he wld never hurt her even when his action come into question she knows for a fact he could and would never do anything to hurt her. She goes on this path of self discovery like she want to know what she can’t remember she takes her life in her own hands and gets it done the shock and revelation of who she is oh my gosh and Corbin Corbin love the little hints of what she cld be.. another thing i love about this book she leave nice little hidden nuggets that will pop back up into later books or maybe a spin of. This book was such an awesome read..

In this book, Vesper has turned a page. I loved that she has turned a page and went to get help. I think this book offered her a lot of answers and to me was a turning point in the story. I loved the guy that she picked for her harem and I hope the next one is who I think will be. Although, in this story the romance is secondary, the steamy scenes are H.O.T. and Elle really has a talent for writing those scenes, thank you kindly haha. I will not stop rooting for a certain cowboy and I hope he makes it into her harem eventually. I can't wait for the next part in the Remnant Gods Series... Bring it on Elle Cross

This book is an amazing continuation of the series, and I love the character development, and the expanding world. Elle Cross is a masterful writer, and the way she details the world of the Remnant Gods is thoughtful, evocative and with an ease that makes everything seem natural. The characters continue to develop and I love that although Deimos and Vesper go through something very dark and profound in this book, it's treated with delicacy, care and compassion, and I believe that it will make for a much deeper relationship between the characters as we head into book 3. I cannot wait!

Gripping

I love the way Elle Cross writes. I had to make myself put the book down so I could actually get real life done.
Vesper is a beautiful, strong and broken woman. The trials and tribulations she endures seem only to make her stronger. Big D remains by her side as does her best friend Corbin. Together, with help from other allies, Vesper learns more about herself and what is truly within her power to fix (or not).
I cried several times during this book because it tugged at my emotions. I would recommend it to everyone.

Another Hit from Miss Elle Cross. What a great second book. We get to discover more about Vesper past and what she is. We have more mystery, bonding time with Deimos, a growing relationship with other character (you have to read to find out) and of course a lot of hot scenes in this one.
This book continues the story from the first one and we are with Vesper every step in her recovery, through this we get to know new intriguing characters and Gods.
Simply loved this one.

I love Vesper! She is coming into her own in this book and starting to remember her past while dealing with the death of her mentor. A lot of things get answered in this book and mysteries solved. I love Diemos but I'm glad she is adding to her love nest because Corso is how so is Jules but I am really happy about Jack cause Jack is my favorite! I can't wait to read more about Vesper, Corbin and Vesper's guys! Maybe Corbin can find some too....;)

Good read

I liked this follow up. But Vesper seemed really more passive here. She just seemed to go along with everything, and everyone. (I mean that foursome just came out of nowhere!) I really prefer it when the heroine drives the story more, instead of just reacting to events around her.
Still, I love the characters overall and will continue on if there's more to come.

Like the first book, I devoured Grit 2 in a matter of hours. What I really loved about this book was finally seeing Vesper take ownership of herself and confront her past and really put in the determination and effort to heal and work on herself. I cannot wait for book 3, I just know that as Vesper grows into herself and her powers she is going to blow me away!

Couldn't have loved this more

I enjoyed everything about this storyline. The power that exudes from Deimos never comes off wrong. If I've ever had a dream "man" he is it. And Corso is just the icing on the cake. What beautiful writing and such easy flowing world building. Not many people write like this. So glad I took a chance on this story.
