Jacqueline Winters has been writing since she was nine when she'd sneak stacks of paper from her grandma’s closet and fill them with adventure. She grew up in Small-Town Nebraska, and spent a decade living in beautiful Alaska. She writes contemporary sweet romances and contemporary romantic suspense.
She’s a sucker for happily ever after’s, has a sweet tooth that can be sated with cupcakes, and firmly believes sangria was possibly the best invention ever. On a relaxing evening, you can find her at her computer writing her next novel with her dog poking his adorable head out from beneath the desk.
Cowboys and Starlight by Jacqueline Winters is the first book in the Starlight Cowboys series. Colten Livingston swore he would never fall in love with another city girl. Not after his ex-wife broke his heart. Now that his mother is selling the family home, nothing is keeping him from his dream job at the Glacier National Park. Enter Veronica “Ronnie” Ross. An interior decorator down on her luck, she arrives in town for a much needed vacation to visit her brother in Starlight, Wyoming, when she lands the job renovating the Livingston home. Colten finds her intriguing, beautiful and off limits as she is his best friend’s little sister. He knows he needs to walk away as Ronnie doesn’t plan on staying; however, they are drawn together and discover a reason to stay. The Starlight Cowboys series is described as a sweet contemporary small town western romance with happily ever afters. From the opening chapter, the story and the characters drew me in and I could not put it down. I immediately loved the sassiness of Ronnie and the cool demeanor of Colten and I knew the sparks were going to fly. The story was sweet, sassy and heartwarming as both Colten and Ronnie deal with their own heartbreak and issues and discover new dreams. The supporting characters were great and I also enjoyed a hint at future relationships for the rest of the series. Overall, I enjoyed Cowboys and Starlight and look forward to the rest of the series. If you enjoy cowboy romances with happily ever afters, I highly recommend Cowboy and Starlight.
Cowboys and Starlight is available in paperback and eBook
This is the first book that I have read by Jacqueline and it certainly won't be the last! I absolutely LOVED this sweet romance and the fact that it is clean, makes it even better in my mind. She creates such relatable and realistic characters that she then sets in a small town in Wyoming....the perfect setting for this story. I felt like I was actually in Starlight with Ronnie and Colten. I could see the house and the restoration taking place in my mind as she writes so incredibly clear and her attention to details is incredible. If you're looking for a sweet, small town romance, this is the book for you!
Ronnie had a storage unit full of samples for her interior shop, she hoped to have some day. After three years, a big mishap, and she gets fired. How to tell her brother, decided to going to Starlight and face him with the news.Giving herself a chance to lay low, and decide what to do next. When meeting Colton, while she was working with his mother doing renovations, before selling the home. Trusting people, and their hearts was a big issue for both of them. Could she get Colton to realize that this town maybe the answer for her to open a shop and her heart,by staying. A good start to this series, and cowboys to love.
This book was a heartwarming small town love story. Ronnie and Colten crashed into each other to begin their story and kept clashing that kept the pages turning. Colten kept Ronnie from knowing how he felt about her but not the rest of their friends. They worked together and did great while working on his Mom's house. They each wanted the other to have their dream job and willing to sacrifice for the other. They finally find their dream together and a happy ever after.
I'm a sucker for cowboys. Always have been. This sweet, afternoon read is no exception. Colton fits the classic Wranglers just right, coming into the scene with that cowboy coolness I love. Ronnie is a heroine of today, confident in her skills, careful with her heart, and sweet with a healthy dose of sass. Together, they are a perfect fit. Watching them fall for each other while renovating his family home was a lot of fun. Can't wait for book 2.
This turned out to be a really enjoyable read. Colten was a little rough around the edges at first, and I wasn't sure if I liked Ronnie all that much either, but as I got more into the story and started learning their backstories, and as they started to get closer, I was totally on board with them both as a couple.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. I hope the next will be about Hudson and Reese!
This was a fun summer story. The escape from a bad job sends Ronnie to visit her brother. Sounds nice enough. But she lands a job which puts her in touch with her brother's best friend. So much happens to keep the interest up. The characters really do come alive! The only drawback is in the descriptions of the design and redecorating could have used more details. But it did not break the story. I do recommend this book. It was a good clean quick read.
This was a nicely plotted, clean contemporary romance novel which I found perfect for a cozy evening read. The characters were exactly as they should've been, with flaws and having things to learn. The hero wasn't larger than life. The heroine was strong without coming across as anti-feminine. Some of the parts tugged at my heartstrings while others made me laugh. If you enjoy clean, contemporary romance, why not give this one a try?
This was a really good book with a story within a story. The characters are wonderful, and the scenery makes you feel you’re right there with them! A designer, her brother,a cowboy and a lie of omission have this book starting out with a bang! I really think you’ll enjoy this book, but I don’t want to give any of the plot away,so I’ll just reiterate, it was very good!
The characters were well done. The dialogue was fantastic. Loved the banter and teasing...
I also loved that the supporting characters were just that... supportive. They were kind and caring, lending a hand whenever needed. I love, too, that everyone else saw the love the main characters had for each other before they notice it themselves... but the friends said nothing in order to let the main characters work things out for themselves.
This is going to be a great series. I loved this book. Ronnie is an interior decorator with something to prove. While taking a break in the small town of Starlight, she finds a chance to make a name for herself. But, can Colten make her see that she can have her dreams come true in the small town of Starlight? A sweet book with lots of potential for future books.
Excellent and well written. A sweet clean love story. Ronnie was having a rough time being fired from her job, apartment at the same time. So she packs all she can get in her car and heads for Starlight where her brother loves and then she met her handsome cowboy and sparks fly. Really easy to read.
This is not a typical cowboy story. Yes, there are horses and cows and stalls to be mucked out of course....BUT the story centers around two people very unlikely to have met or fall in love.
I love how opposites attract! So glad it works out for them in a most uncommon story under the stars!
After being fired from her job, Ronnie runs to hide with her big brother. Only problem, he doesn't know she was fired. His best friend is one fine looking cowboy, but she's planning to go back to the big city. As they get to know each other more, neither wants to keep the other from their dream~
Likeable characters and a satisfying story. I’m glad the deception didn’t span the whole story. Much more enjoyable once they were being honest with each other. Not a fan of the “doing what’s best for you without giving you necessary information to make your own decisions” stuff they both had going on towards the end, though!
Sweet romance, an interesting storyline, and some great characters. Colten came home to Starlight to be with his parents after his dad's diagnosis, leaving behind his dream job and an ex-wife. Ronnie is just visiting after getting fired from her home-improvement show. Relationship conflicts, resolutions, and finding their dreams. Standalone, HEA.
Sweet, clean romance. Set in Wyoming. Handsome cowboy falls for pretty city girl. Cowboy has nasty ex; city girl has been fired. The small town helps them fall in love. Happy ending.
Had the best time reading this romance novel had to finish before putting the book down, when felt I like sitting next like I was sitting on pin and needles while the author was writing this story. This is a winner you want be disappointed.
Great cowboy Hero..yes! Feisty and lovable heroine..yes! I thoroughly enjoyed this contemporary western romance and highly recommend it to others. Great characters that were well developed (even the ex-wife) and the dog. No steamy sex scenes but the romance between the two MC's warmed my kindle.
This book was good. Most cowboy stories have a twist to them. This one is unique.Woriking with an interior designer is different. It kept your interest& was fun & loving to read.
A wonderful start to this series. I’ve read these books in a crazy order, but it all works out. Amazing characters, a great small town, cowboys and family and nature and animals and so much more. Always a great read when you pick up a Winters book.
Entertaining read. Just FYI, though, there is no such thing as a double saddle with 2 grooves. There are horses which ride double, but the second rider sits behind the saddle, on the back skirts.
Loved this one! So different than others I've read before and very refreshing. A clean but entertaining book, can't wait to see what else the other books have to offer.
The main female character starts the story with more problems than anyone should have thrown at them in such a few days. But the way it all works out makes a enjoyable story to read.
series. "Starlight Cowboys" series. 6 books so far. out: July 12, 2018. men, women & relationships humor. contemporary western fiction. clean & wholesome romance. western i would add in there. good read. wanna read more.
Loved it, wonderful story had me from the begining. Loved the characters, fun easy going and never giving up, taking a break is good but jumping right back in can be so much sweeter. Ranching is hard work everyday, enjoy the read I did.
O read the second of these first, but the two are stand-alone enough to do that. Another nice romance, sweet and clean, with engaging characters and a well written story.
