Spellcasters: Chase's Revenge

Rate this book
He has waited twenty-one years for this moment. Twenty-one years, biding his time. Waiting for the chance to enact his plan. For revenge.

Chase Jamison had been happy when his life was destroyed. When the woman he loved was taken from him. Half-human, half-demon, he spent the next two decades locked away learning about his demon side and plotting his revenge on the man who had ripped his life apart, his best friend.

Harmony Archer was raised unaware of the secrets she held deep inside of her. She was blissfully unaware of the darker side of the magic that her mother yielded on a daily basis.

Would darkness and evil be released when Chase revealed who he really was? Or would it bind them together in ways they never thought possible?

Logan and Skye have made a life for themselves and their daughter Harmony for the past 21 years. Harmony has been going to school, being the good girl that her parents expect her to be, but all of that is about to change when Chase walks into Harmony’s life. Harmony doesn’t know it but Chase has waited a long time for the things that he is about to be doing. He wants revenge for what happened so many years ago, and Harmony will be the perfect way to obtain it. He wants her parents to suffer like he has suffered but in a different way. Revenge can be sweet or it can be bittersweet, but when it comes to revenge things rarely go exactly as planned.
Spellcasters: Chase’s Revenge is the second book that I have read by K. Ries and Kitka Buchanan. I have read the first Spellcasters story and I have to say that I enjoyed this story more than the first. While both books leave me with unanswered questions still, I feel that Spellcasters: Chase’s Revenge is the better-written story out of the two. Chase is back and he’s out for revenge for the death of his beloved so many years ago. He’s waited a long time for Harmony to grow and develop into a woman so that he can make a go at her. He’s managed to stay below the radar, but now the time has come for him to surface. For the most part, I applaud the authors on how they handled the various reactions with the characters as the true identity of Chase comes to light. For Harmony being with Chase for just a few days, she attaches emotionally to him almost at the speed of light. I also like that there is more magic usage in this story as well. I think that that aspect is what helps hold my attention and the storyline itself. I appreciate the dynamics of Skye the most. She’s a mother fighting for her child, a lover fighting for the man she loves, and a woman who will stop at nothing to do what she must. There are some intense moments in this story. There are some interesting twists in this story that helped to keep me more engaged than the first. I like that there aren’t any sudden or major jumps either. For me, this story is very easy to read and follow along with what is going on.
As I stated above, this story leaves me once again with questions left unanswered. Yeah, this bugs me, but it’s not as major as the first book. I will admit that I wish that the authors had given us a prologue to give this story a bit of background. I think that it would have helped set the stage. I say this because it’s been many months since I’ve read the first book and I don’t recall everything that transpired then. I have some issues with Harmony as a character as well. She’s just turned 21, but there are several times when she honestly acts like a petulant teenager instead of the adult that she is. When she’s acting like a spoiled brat I honestly want her mother to take her in hand and slap her. Sorry, not sorry. I also don’t like the quick turnaround with Chase. He goes from saying that “he doesn’t love her, but can grow to love her with time” to suddenly he “loves her.” For me, nothing has really happened with this rapid change. I’m also disappointed in Harmony’s lack of emotion learning that Chase did blood magic on her. She didn’t know, she didn’t consent, so I expected more reaction from her. Out of all the characters, I think that Harmony was the weakest because she just almost always did what Chase wanted. Love is blind, but not to everything and some of the situations she found herself in should have been more than eye-opening.
As I said previously, I did enjoy this story very much. The authors do a good job of keeping me page-turning and engaged in the story. I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. This story is an improvement, but it still leaves me with questions left unanswered. I think that Harmony is too accepting of everything that happens to her in connection to Chase, but fights her parents almost every step of the way. If you enjoy paranormal romance novels, then I recommend this book. If you are adverse to sexual situations, then I don’t recommend you read this book, as there are several. I will say that they are tastefully done and not excessive.

Spellcasters: Chase's Revenge by Kitka Buchanan is a captivating tale of vengeance, love, and the power of hidden magic. Set in a world where half-human, half-demon beings exist, the story follows Chase Jamison, a man consumed by a burning desire for retribution. After losing the woman he loved and enduring years of seclusion, Chase meticulously plans his revenge against his former best friend, the man responsible for his shattered life.

Enter Harmony Archer, a young woman unaware of the secrets coursing through her veins. Raised in ignorance of her true heritage, Harmony possesses a formidable magical ability inherited from her mother. When Chase unveils his true identity, the question looms: will his revelation unleash darkness and evil, or will it forge an unexpected bond between him and Harmony?

Buchanan skillfully weaves a narrative filled with suspense, romance, and the exploration of personal identity. The characters are well-developed, and their internal struggles and conflicting desires add depth to the story. The author's prose flows smoothly, immersing readers in a world where magic and the supernatural intertwine.

Spellcasters: Chase's Revenge explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the complex nature of human and demonic existence. With its compelling plot twists and emotional depth, this book will keep readers hooked until the very last page.

Holy crap balls batman! This book for me was highly anticipated since I had read the first book! And it lived up to everything that I had hoped it to be. Honestly, it was more than I had hoped. I did not expect it to go the way it did and hot damn it was epically crazy! I mean HOLY CRAP! I don't know how to put it in to words without giving to much away. All I'll say is this, if you haven't read this book yet, YOU NEED TOO!! Just make sure to read book 1 as it helps to follow along as this one takes place 21 years later. These authors kicked ass!

First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

Holy shiznet!!! Thus is one freaky story. Skylar met Logan (in kinda an orphanage), and they grew very close, fell in love, & were planning to marry. Everything went to garbage when Skylar's sister, Natasha, cones back into her life. This story has so many twists. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up

He has waited 21 years for revenge. He has been learning about his dark side. He is half demon and half human. His best friend ruined his happy life with his girl and he will get his revenge. She has a darkness inside her as well but she has only seen her mother has it for good. What will happen when they meet again? Will they be connected for life? See what will happen

seems to me it becomes more about love and lust than simple sloppy revenge.

and love might be positively transforming.

death is a transformation too.

find out where love and hate take these families, and read on!
