Sweet Escape #3

Cold Spell

Rate this book
She can't stand him. He thinks she's never more adorable than when she's angry at him.

Liddy Drake would rather gamble on double black diamond runs than take a chance on love. Escaping dreary San Francisco for a Colorado mountain resort with her besties is just what the doctor ordered. But an injury on the first day lands her in the lap of a loud-mouthed ski instructor who knows exactly how to get under her skin. She doesn't have time to waste on a playboy with a too-easy laugh and gorgeous blue eyes.

Luke Sawyer left New York ten years ago for the ski runs of Colorado, concealing his identity as a Rothchild heir. He'd seen money change too many people, never for good. Scrappy, sassy, and oh-so-sexy Liddy doesn't fall for the mask of his over-the-top charm. He accepts the challenge to show her his true self.

Their chemistry is enough to melt snow-capped mountains, until she finds out the truth. There's no way her humble background could compete with America's royalty. How can he melt the ice around her heart and convince her that Mr. Wrong is actually Mr. Right, who loves her just the way she is?

The girls of the Sweet Escape Series are back at it again for their third and final girls vacation, and this time they’re headed to a beautiful ski lodge. Liddy has had enough with the way her life has been going and takes it upon herself to set up a girls trip to go away skiing and clear her head.

The mountain top resort has everything you could need. They’re in a glamorous and huge lodge with all the amenities you would want on a vacation. It probably helps that they’re in the middle of the woods and the mountains surrounded by peace and quiet and snow. Sounds perfect to me.

The build up to the romance between Liddy and Luke was so perfect. It was kind of a hate-to-lovers sort of thing, but without being dragged out. It was so cute how she was somewhat annoyed with him because she thought he was cocky but he just ended up being hot as all hell.

Speaking of hot as all hell, this book was so steamy. Liddy and Luke had the best chemistry with each other. Every time they were going back and forth, I absolutely loved it. They were funny, entertaining, and so so adorable.

One of the absolute best things about this series was the friendship between Sam, Jordan, and Liddy. These are three girls who are there for each other through thick and thin and will always build the other ones up. Nothing is better than reading a book that portrays a strong female friendship. Us ladies got to stick together!

Overall, Cold Spell was definitely my favourite of the trilogy, and I would highly suggest that you guys pick them up when you have a chance! All three of them were really great reads.

This is book three in the Sweet Escape series. The series is based on a group of best friend girls. We’ve read Sam and Jordan’s story so now we get Liddys story. This time the girls go on a skiing trip to Colorado.

When an accident has Liddy off the ski scopes she’s gutted. Luke Sawyer the ski instructor falls for Liddy. Sadly Liddy is keeping men at arms length. Can Luke break down her barriers?

I thought this was a great read. Loved the series and can’t wait to read more from these authors.

I loved this series, I'm sorry to see it end, though I'm hoping the authors do some novella's for each couple!
Follow the story of clingy Liddy, who's lost out on finding the right guy over and over! When her and her bff's take another vacation, this time to Colorado for some skiing, she finds an arrogant guy, Luke Sawyer and she can't stand him but he sure does fancy her! He pursue's her relentlessly, will she finally give in? After all this is supposed to be a man free getaway!
Read along as she confronts her past and tries to move on with the help of Luke! 4 1/2 stars for this one, I enjoyed these two characters! Grab it when it releases!!

If first impressions are everything, Liddy and Luke get off to a bad start. They push each others buttons with personalities and attraction. Cold Spell is a chilly tale of unexpected romance and shocking reveals. London and Sheehey tempt with fiery personalities and heated attraction that is hot enough to melt any iceberg that gets in it's way.

Cold Spell (Sweet Escape Book 3) by Mia London and Susan Sheehey. This is
Liddy "Lydia Michelle" Drake and Luke Sawyer Rothchild's story.

Liddy may not have liked Luke at first and in fact hated him but there was definitely intense chemistry between them. I guess there is a fine line between hate and love or is it hate and lust in their case. Luke and Liddy's relationship seemed more like a fling at the beginning but as the story progresses you see that it could be more. How will their relationship ever be more with Luke hiding who he really is, Liddy struggling with believing everyone will leave her, and the fact that long distance relationships don't have a good record of working out?

I loved how as the story progressed I got to see the real Luke and Liddy. These two are really sweet and both have a passion for helping others. We may not have a lot of money to donate to charities but there are so many ways that we can give to others in need as the characters have in the Sweet Escape series.

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review

I want to start off by saying how incredibly sad I am to see this series ending. I sincerely hope the authors give us updated on the characters as some point. Cold Spell was everything and more for me. This is book three in the Sweet Escape series. I must say, I've loved every book in this series, so don't ask me to choose a favorite. These books are witty, fast paced, and entertaining. Plus the hotness is off the charts.

Liddy has watched her friends get their HEA and now it's her turn. Calling on her best friends, the girls take a trip to Colorado to ski. When an accident puts Liddy out of commission, Luke is there to make it all better. Luke has a past, one that he wants to stay hidden, but sometimes things have a way of coming out. It was fun watching these two fall. To say they started out bad, would be an understatement. But the end was all worth it.

I love this story and this series. If your looking for great books that take you on wonderful adventures, these are it. I loved reading each story and following these couples.

This is book 3 in the Sweet Escape series and it features Liddy and Luke. Sure, her past hasn’t been great but she’s fighting this attraction as hard as she can. Luke is great albeit a little forward. What was up with that butt slap? That was unexpected and great! I love that he tells her exactly how he feels. He’s a fun guy and never gives up.

This is a sweet, funny romance! The story line was smooth and had fantastic characters.

The girls are on the final adventure on the slopes and it couldn't be hotter. I was really sad when I finished this one. The three friends feel so real and genuine - cheering each other on and kicking each others' butts. Maybe the authors will take us another trip with them. ;-) (Hint, Hint)

Cold Spell is the third and final book in the Sweet Escapes series. As soon as I realized Hot Spell would be following Jordan I was curious to see how Liddy's love story would play out. At the start of this book Liddy had a pretty tough year after going through a break up and getting drugged on their last vacation. This time around the three friends decide to go to a ski resort right before Thanksgiving. Due to an unexpected injury Liddy has to sit out most of the trip and as a result spends a lot of time with Luke.

I was on the fence about Luke for a while. When he was mentioned I had a feeling he would be the love interest. He seemed a bit obnoxious but not in a terrible way. There was a scene pretty early on where Luke accidentally sees Liddy naked. The scene and Luke's actions in them didn't feel right considering the two main characters didn't know each other. While the situation was funny, Luke's actions were inappropriate. I appreciate that Luke immediately called himself out and thought what he did was wrong, however he never apologized to Liddy or at least talked to her about how he crossed a line. After that scene Luke started to grow on me and I felt like he would be a good match for Liddy. They had amazing chemistry and in between their intimate moments they talked!

I have mentioned this in reviews of the previous two books but I absolutely love the friendship between Sam, Jordan, and Liddy. They are always supportive of each other but always call one another out when one isn't thinking clearly. I was sad we didn't get to see them together as much in Cold Spell but I still love them. I was also a little disappointed we didn't get a Sam and Chase wedding. Overall I think this was a satisfying conclusion. If you want to read about an amazing friend group, stunning vacations, and swoon worthy men make sure to check out the Sweet Escapes series.

I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.

This is my first time reading this author and it is book 3 in a series of which I have not read any of the previous stories. That said I easily followed along and this story easily stands alone. It is a series about three besties finding love on vacation. Liddy is the star of this story.

Liddy is a 30 year old woman living in San Franscisco where its very rainy and she is super bored. She calls up her besties and they decide to go skiing. Liddy is very down on romance and love for herself and so when she sees handsome Luke, she lets him have it.

Luke meanwhile is in lust. This is a HOT story. Lots of sex scenes. It is a little longer than novella but not a full novel size either. While having lots of sex scenes, it still manages to tell a great story and I never felt it was too short.

The biggest issue in this story is trust both from Liddy and Luke. Liddy has been majorly burned so trust is very important to her and Luke has a HUGE secret about his family. So when it comes out well it gets very COLD.

This was a well written and enjoyable story, that if you enjoy sex in your stories you will love. It is also a vacation romance, so its like a vacation without you having to leave your house.

The intrepid trio are back and now it's Liddy's chance at love.

Liddy is a tad clingy and each boyfriend becomes "The One". After her last break up the girls head off somewhere different for their girls only vacation. But things go from bad to worse when not only does Liddy injure herself on day one, she does it right in front of Mr Arrogant!

Liddy has vowed No More Men but Luke, said ski instructor, seems to have made nursing her back to health his mission. With the added bonus of maybe accelerating her heating in his bed!

But is Luke all that he appears or will he be another man willing to say anything to get into Liddy's bed and her heart and then crush her dreams?

Great end to the series. Luke and Liddy are anything but cold. Your kindle may just seize up with the heat these two generate. Liddy is caring and self effacing, never thinking that she is "good enough" for love. Luke on the other hand has a tough and arrogant façade that actually hides a heart of gold that has been taken advantage of a time or two.

I love a funny enemies-to-lovers romance, and Cold Spell hit the mark! Luke and Liddy do not get along at all when they first meet -- but he finds something so incredibly adorable about that in her. He's cocky and arrogant, and she's a sassy spitfire. They push each other's buttons over and over again... but there is a fine line between love and hate!

Luke and Liddy's relationship is not without struggles, and not only because it is a long-distance one; she has some issues when it comes to people leaving her, and he is hiding a major secret about his true identity. Once he reveals the truth, will Liddy understand why he lied or will it be a deal-breaker?

This book is part of a series surrounding a group of friends. I have not read any of the previous books, and I did not feel as if I was missing out on storyline. The girls are a great tribe; I love their interactions with one another. And Luke! What a sweetheart!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Liddy is the last of the trio to not find her true love yet.  But after the last incident with a man, she decides she is off the men.  Well with the rainy days of San Francisco feel like too much, Liddy decides it is her turn to call a vacation.  And skiing seems exactly what she needs.  When an accident puts her out of commission and the hot ski instructor decides to nurse her back to health, all her reasons for no men has flown out the window.  But what happens when Liddy falls for someone who is not who he says he is?  How can she ever trust again?

Don't let the title fool you, Cold Spell is anything but cold!  A hotness level 10!!   A wonderful finish to a hot and sexy series.  Wow!  I just loved getting to know this trio of girls.  Wonderful friends, each with their own problems, but loyal to each other.  Liddy is no different.  She is sweet and wonderful.  Always thinking of others, yet thinking she is not worthy enough for someone to love.  Oh how wrong she is.

Luke is hot and sexy.  He puts off that he is an arrogant, egotistical asshole, but he is anything but.  He is sweet and kind.  He is just looking to live a normal life and for someone to love him for him.  That is why he was not looking nor expecting to find someone, until Liddy walked into the room.

Overall this story is fast paced and exciting.  It is full of fun and romance, add in a hot sexy man and you got yourself one hot read that is sure to leave you begging for more.  Like its books before this, this book is about hot guys, spending time with your friends and falling in love.  With amazing and wonderful characters you are sure to fall in love.  Sad to see it end, but it has been a fun ride.

I have enjoyed the entire Sweet Escape series, and Cold Spell is no exception. So, glad to see Liddy get her story. I loved learning more about Liddy and her background. And Luke - sigh 😊. He was a charmer with a heart of gold. The chemistry is hot, the story witty and charming and the slopes are cold 😉. Come join Sam, Jordan and Liddy on their final sweet escape.

Mia London and Susan Sheehey are both very fine authors; but put them together and they shine!
I hadn't read their previous books: "Dry Spell" and "Hot Spell". Each book focuses on one of the best friends. This time it's Liddy. It was easy to see why Sam, Jordan, and Liddy were besties.

Liddy had her own hang-ups and issues with pervious male acquaintances. An all female ski trip prior to Thanksgiving was the answer to get Liddy out of her funk. An early ski accident changed her plans.
Ski instructor, Luke Sawyer is her new problem. What will Liddy do?

I highly recommend "Cold Spell" and will be reading the first and second books in the series.

A wonderful romance to make your day a little brighter. Liddy would rather ski than fall in love. Of course the first day, she hurts herself. The ski instructor doesn’t seem so pleasant, but time will tell.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**Cold Spell is the third book in the Sweet Escape series by Mia London & Susan Sheehey. The sweet escape series is a series of standalone contemporary romance novels by this author duo. You do not need to read the books in this series in order. Cold spell is the third book in the series, but it is also the first book I have read from the series. I think this series will be great for fans of super quick, instant gratification type reads. I tend to like my books a little longer so I can enjoy all of the details of the story, so this novel was a little too short for me, but if you are looking for a read that you can easily complete in one sitting, this will be a great one for you.

Cold Spell is the story of Liddy and Luke. Liddy goes on a quick ski trip to unwind with her friends and she ends up hurting her ankle. Enter hot and charismatic ski instructer, Luke who comes to her rescue. I really liked Liddy and Luke, but at about 100 pages, this story felt too rushed for me. I loved the plotline of Luke's family lurking in the background and I wanted to see that explored more. I also wanted a bit more of a slower burn, which is simply not what this story is about. So overall, I liked everything I did read, but I just wanted a bit more from this story. The characters were good. The romance was sexy and fun, but it is more of a novella than a novel in my opinion, which is something I didn't realize going into the story. I think fans of novella romances will really enjoy Cold Spell. It was a quick fun read.
