When hard drinking social misfit Stephen falls in love with a shapeshifter it could be the fulfillment of his wildest dreams. It could be the beginning of his worst nightmare…It could be the end of the world.
I did NOT like the MC of this book and was quite happy that he didn't get a HEA. Dude had a severe case of "I know what to do" which ended up causing everyone around him to get hurt. He figured he could do in 1 day what an entire race had been trying to do for thousands of years. It was so stupid. He unnecessary bravado after being a nobody his entire life really irked me. If the author was going for someone that you'd not like. This was it. This dude was more annoying that Juliet in the TV show Grimm. Or Elizabeth Keen in The Blacklist. He was just grade A boring. I kept reading, but I really didn't want to. The overall premise was a good one. It was a classic battle to be top of the pack, and it could have been an awesome story, it's just that there were so much left unsaid and not ironed out. Like, who's the MC's parents, why did he just meet some random person, why would he stay with said random person if after literally walking down the block you get shot at and she TELLS you it's her they are after. The MC literally just follows his dick from page 1 ALL THE WAY TO THE LAST PAGE. Seriously. HARD PASS on this book.
