SHE IS DIFFERENT...
Sophia owes her life to none but one man: Marcus Durley. After saving her from hell, he took her to Rock'oles, the most affluent and sophisticated brothel in the Town, where women are given more freedom, a far cry from the brothel slum Marcus rescued her from. But unlike the others, her role is not to service men in bed, instead she serves them to serve Marcus. She does what Marcus wants for she knows of his secrets and shares his pains. He has always been the only true man in her life.

A PLAN...
Marcus is part of the illegal slave trade in the Town and Sophia is helping him achieve his true goals with loyalty and trust. The Town Guards, particularly Ralph Everard, has been making things difficult. But Marcus has a plan and Sophia is a willing participant.

UNTIL HE CAME ALONG...
Nicholas has always been curious of the mysterious woman behind one of most wanted chambers inside Rock'oles and he is not the only one who tried to get an invite and failed. The woman only allows entry to selected gentlemen, men who makes his Town Guard brother, Ralph, raise a brow in suspicion. Nicholas is urged to court an invite into the mysterious woman's chamber with belief that she is the key to solving the slavery case. And as if by some miracle she welcomes him into her dark, quiet world. He is there to spy on her, but the more he learns of her secrets, the more he discovers things that put his playful, tender and seductive reputation to its greatest test thus far.

Still set in the fictional place of the Town, this sixth book in the Everard Family series follows two people determined to protect those they value most. And in their quest to help those they love to escape failure, they find themselves a victim of their own plans and of the undeniable passion and love that will never ebb even after the certain tragedy of which they are heading to.

5 stars the first time.

4 stars this time. This was book that tugged at my emotion. I don’t know if she dealt with race the right way. It’s a historical fiction so I get it. But I felt Nick was pretty ignorant to people of color. Which I guess makes sense for that time period and because they live under ground. However, this shit tugged at my emotions. I didn’t like that shit was hidden for the sake of it. Yes it moved the plot, but tell the truth. I get they are apart for a year, and Nick thinks she tried to kill his brother. So he was allowed to have other lovers. But still I’m petty.

I love it when I can find a book that makes me feel that clenching feeling around my heart. And Remember Then just gave me that feeling! It was a tale of opposites attract and finding true love; it was a beautiful story about second chances, doing what's best for you and your family, love, forgiveness, and standing strong. It was full of raw emotion. There are times that I have to stop reading because I need a good cry. It was so heartbreaking to read about Sophie and everything she'd been through just to survive.

The love between Nicholas and Sophia seeps through the pages; their love story is beautifully woven together with an abundance of tenderness, forgiveness, understanding, friendship, acceptance, respect, appreciation, romance, and steamy hot passion. This book has a very different feel to the other books, I found it to be slower-paced, and a lot of things happened before they were able to reconnect and heal individually and together.

And when you thought that everything was going to be okay, ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE! Oh wow, the author knows how to keep her readers on edge, just waiting to see what happens next. But like – like - why? Why did you have to end it like that? That cliffhanger had me asking, "But who? But why? How? How? HOW?!" Because I knew for a fact that there's no second book for Nicholas and Sophia. So what kind of cruel torture is that?

HEADS UP: You have to read Masterful Trickery to see what will happen to Sophia and Nicholas and if they get their much deserve HEA.
