This is an outstanding writing about faith and courage. The story goes that crossing the Indus River, Xuan Zang came to the most sacred and important region of Buddhism. Here was the place where the Buddha was born, cultivated, enlightened and sermoned; the Buddha's relics were everywhere but he saw the declining signs of Buddhism in these relics. Reality was a sharp blade which cut down in his meditative mind. He met bandits in the forest, was in the risk of death on the Ganges, debated with other religions at the crater, and cried under the big banyan tree... Finally, he arrived at Nalanda Monastery and met the mentor who was waiting for him.
