An artist's book by the renowned Swiss duo dedicated to the questions that everyone asks themselves once in a Can something be unbelievable? Should I get drunk? Could I be Japanese? Is the freedom of birds overrated? Am I a farmer in winter? Does unease grow by itself? Should I crawl into my bed and stop producing things all the time?
A nice book to give you some things to think about. Here are a few of my favourite questions/quotes:
"Should I invade Russia?" "Should I eat chalk?" "What percentage of me is animal?" "Can the Principle of Yeast be applied to a lot of other things?" "Is the realm of possibility getting smaller and smaller?" "Is my digestive system a wonderful thing?" "Why am I always right?" "Am I my souls' sleeping bag?" "Is it true that traces of aliens have been found in yoghurt?" "Is indecisiveness proof of free will?"
It's a very quick read (took me about 10-20 minutes, with a restroom break in between) and I do recommend this for people who like to think more into things.
I picked it up just because it looked good and sounded funny. However, this book is not just that. It can make you think philosophically, it can make you wonder, it can also make you laugh. It can also be a fun reading with friends. You might also judge it as a trash, depending on your taste. It’s definitely not for everyone.
it was only interesting to me when i thought of the whole book like a narrative through questions. the questions itself didn't c0me across as funny, philosophical or whatever.
Wird die Freiheit der Vögel überbewertet? Nehme ich die falschen Drogen? Ist alles halb so schlimm? Ist sieben viel?... Und andere spannende Fragen. Einfach genial!
Cool thought-provoking questions. Great for journaling, for an evening in with friends, for close-circle parties, for depressing inward looking philosophers.
My favorite asks: What does my soul do when I am at work? Do souls wander? Can I be Japanese? Is the world there when I am not? Is freedom Alive? Is resistance useless?
unglaublich, absolut empfehlenswert. über manches werde ich noch lange nachdenken müssen. vieles geht sehr tief, manches ist quatsch, aber alles ist gut.
I chanced upon this book at Hamburger Bahnhof. Their projection installation was the only touching one for me that day. Questions. I always have so many, especially in the late midnight. And I don't have answers for most of them. Sometimes they fleet by and got left behind. Why not note them down from now on?
Could I be Japanese? and other such questions that you may or may not ask in your lifetime, out loud or to yourself. No one gets it until they have the book in their hand, but it's a pleasingly light existential read.
