Still Not Over You

Rate this book
I'm SO over that gorgeous, scary, heartbreaking man who hates my guts.
I'm just counting on him to save my life.

Never, ever fall for your brother's hot older friend.
I flunked the test the instant I laid eyes on Landon Strauss.
Tall. Ripped. Commanding. Irresistibly alpha.
He gave a damn like no one else did.
His soul-searing eyes saw me, not just a nerd girl next door.
I had my idol, my destiny, and names for our future kids picked.

Then I read Landon's little black book.
One nosy peek exposed the shock of a lifetime.
His confession. His pain. His plan.
The sweet boy I loved was gone.
Hero-turned-villain-turned-bad-memory overnight.

Five years later, an insane slip of fate puts us under the same roof.
Sweet closure, I think.
I almost forget he hates me.
I almost think we'll talk like normal adults.
I don't expect the shirtless behemoth who comes barreling through my door.
Landon's grown up. All snarls, testosterone, and lethal chemistry.
We're in trouble, he says.
Oh, Landon. Oh, baby, don't I know it?

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow – a tale of two hearts torn, stomped, and dragged through the mud. An uber-alpha protector bent on reclaiming his nerd next door. Full length romance novel with a Happily Ever After worth a “hell yeah.”

Fuckin shit!!!!

I just realized I reviewed this book instead of the book I actually read by the same author...lol

*sigh*

Well, that actually leaves me with no other option than to read it now...bahaha

Interesting tactics...

Gah...
unfortunately, this story was like a Swiss cheese, it had so many loop holes in the storyline, i forgot to count. And then some...

I also didn't quite connect with the characters...somehow the very reason for them to go all "enemies" on one another and have hateful grudges for ten years on, was a bit unrealistically funny, thus making it quite non-believable for me to immerse myself more deeply or take it more seriously...and it barely reached a 3 star rating, even though i can't really say that it was all bad, it was filled with action, grumpy remorseful alpha and a feisty a bit nerdy and naive pixie romance writer!

I'm almost an OCD reader, I need to finish what I start, and not only in reading aspect, but in life too. Yeah, it's a bit overbearing and all BUT until I stop breathing I will wrap things up ;)

But, yeah, all in all, the second book, which I read first LOL, was way better than this, BUT that also doesn't mean YOU won't like it.
It's just a matter of a choice, whether you decide to give this a chance or not...

Couldn't connect with the characters and story

I didn't like this book. The story seemed a bit confusing going back and forth from the past to the present. I like drama, don't get me wrong, but this was OTT melodramatic when it shouldn't have been. Landon was the blame for most of the drama, he kept saying nasty things and running away. He's not a jerk in this book, but more of a whiny, angry, bratty little boy. I had to force myself to finish this story.

I'm actually DNFing this at 44%. But that doesn't mean I won't come back and finish it... at some point in the distant future. I just want to remove it from my reading now list because in truth I'm not reading it now.

Look, the writing by this author is fine. I'm annoyed with the too many typos (and only at 44%!), annoyed with the cover, and annoyed with the lots of sex peppered with not much plot, and a bunch of flashbacks out of sequence that's just a disjointed, adolescent (for the most part) mess.

I didn't particularly relate to the MCs. Landon seems like a big hot guy with a brooding nature bc of a troubled past that I'm like - OK, so what else is new? The h who's a romance novelist is just kinda weak as far as characterization goes.

I've read 2 other books by NS and either the H or H/h were more unique, more memorable. These two don't make me invested in their story AT ALL.

So maybe it's just DNF PERIOD. And not coming back later...

"Still Not Over You" was a great second-chance romance story and I felt the characters' feelings and I felt sorrow for what each has been through and how one mistake changed the course of their lives, causing so many negative feelings and miscommunications which resulted in over a decade of misguided resentment from the hero and misery and an hopelessness to move on from the heroine's first crush, somehow from the heroine's first love.

What these two have gone through the spasm of ten years was tragic and sad but I'm glad that they were able to find each other even if the circumstances for their decade reunion wasn't conventional but I believe everything happens for a reason... You'll get to see the progression of Landon and Kenna's relationship evolve and all the emotions that both hid from the world explode... Can't spoil it all for you guys, so go ahead and read this story because it will capture your attention from the first page till the last :)

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

To Kenna, Landon was the kind, attentive friend of her older brother Steve. But this Landon, Kenna runs into years later, is not the boy she once knew. This boy is a man. A sexy, crazy hot alpha, but he's also angry and distant... for good reason.
When they were young, Kenna used to tag along with her brother, which almost always included Landon. Kenna was young, awkward and crushing hard on a boy who regarded her as his best friend's little sister. Nothing more. Well maybe as a friend, until she broke his trust. Now Kenna is stressing over life and needs to get away to recharge when Steve suggests a vacation. Landon has a beach house and since he's away growing his security business, why not take advantage of the situation. He won't be there...right? Their reunion is not pleasant, but Landon needs someone to watch over the house and Kenna needs a place to stay. Soon after seeing Kenna again, Landon is fighting his attraction to her. Kenna has been trying to forget her attraction to Landon for the last ten years and today is no different. Staying at the beach house inadvertently puts Kenna in danger and no matter what happened in their past, Landon refuses to let Kenna be harmed.
Years ago Landon pushed Kenna away, now he has to find a way to make her stay.
FIRST OF ALL YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THIS BOOK ! I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN ! ! !
ACTION PACKED, FAST PACED STORY WITH WELL WRITTEN, LIKEABLE CHARACTERS !
SUSPENSEFUL AND RIVETING ! UNDENIABLE ATTRACTION WITH ALL CONSUMING PASSION ! ! ! I LOVED ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK ! ! !

⭐️ [3.5/5 Stars] ⭐️

This was pretty good. I liked the plot. I enjoy a novel that’s intense and action packed once in a while. I really liked the writing style in this, too, but I think it could have been dulled down A LOT. I’m a big fan of poetic prose and long descriptions but when it’s on every single page it gets exhausting and makes it difficult to focus on the rest of the novel and the more important parts. I think if the prose was cut in half this would have been much more enjoyable. Sometimes when things are too poetic I can’t connect to the characters enough, it doesn’t feel real, if that makes sense? It just makes me feel like I’m floating outside of the novel rather than right there with them.

It was a decent read, though, that’s for sure. I’ll probably check out the rest of the series. It’s just a shame I couldn’t connect enough.

Still Not Over You is a second chance romance from Nicole Snow. This is one of my favorite kinds of books. This is the story of how one mistake changes two people's lives. I loved these character's so much. Landon and Kenna go through a decade of stuff that they could have avoided but now they are under the same roof and things are about to get crazy. This book has a little bit of everything. Smoking hot chemistry, twists and turns, danger and suspense. I loved every second of this book and devoured it too. You don't want to miss this one. It's on of my new favorites.

There is virtually no dialogue in this book. Just lengthy musings and expository text. Therefore it was hard to feel any connection between the main characters. I didn't think the issue they had as children was a big enough deal to warrant their subsequent behaviors. I missed how they went from "enemies" (they really weren't) to "lovers" (occasional f*buddies is more accurate). All of a sudden there is this HEA that to me came out of nowhere.

I did like that the author tried to craft an actual storyline, something more than boy meets girl. It missed the mark for me but I appreciate the effort.

Running away from the smallest issues is a trend in books these days and it's getting old. It happens a lot in this book. Also, when did one word paragraphs become ok? Can we readers vote for authors to flesh out an entire idea before moving on to another? Made this hard for me to read.

Beyond not connecting with the characters or the story I didn't like the writing style. Don't think this author is for me.

Kenna's never gotten over her crush on her brother's best friend, Landon. Nor has she gotten over his rejection the day she invaded his privacy and caused him to chase her away. It's been 5 years since they've seen each other and she wants to try to clear the bad blood between them, so her brother's offer for her to housesit for Landon is perfect.

Landon's never gotten over his anger at Kenna, his Reb, his Rebel. She invaded his privacy during the worst time of his life and he's never forgiven her for it. She read his words, she knew his secret darkness, that the monster in him was real. She knew his plan, and it made his blood boil, still to this day even though it's been 5 years. So when she shows up at his home saying that Steve had asked her to come housesit for him, he's still so mad that he wants to kick her off his property. But wait, he does need someone to watch over his cats while he's off on his latest job - securing the safety of spoiled pop princess Milah Holly. So an uneasy arrangement is made between the two and everything will be fine. All Landon has to do is keep Milah safe for a few days, then he can come back home and kick Kenna out and go back to the status quo.

Of course things don't go according to Landon's plan, because life. And because he underestimated his dormant attraction to Kenna and how much he'd realized he'd need her once she was gone. But there's someone out there who wants him out of the picture. Someone who will use Kenna to get to him. Will Landon and Kenna ever get the chance to love each other? Will the darkness inside Landon take him over the way he's always feared?

I mostly enjoyed Still Not Over You, but I did have a few problems with it. For one, it feels as if there may have been a story before this that I should have read or something. There are a lot of things mentioned, things that happened in the past, that weren't explained well. They were alluded to, but never clarified or fleshed out, so I felt underwater for most of Still Not Over You. For another, Kenna gave into Landon way too quickly. That second chance she gave him was just ridiculous. What she did to make him so mad in the past honestly wasn't all that bad. He blew things way out of proportion, and I don't think he properly groveled to her, nor was his half-hearted explanation sufficient, at least not for me. She was a bit of a doormat for him, which I hate. Doormat heroines are so not my thing. Sure I've read worse doormats, but she wasn't strong enough for my tastes. But, aside from these things, I liked Still Not Over You. It was sexy and the pace moved along quickly. The mystery was pretty predictable, but still enjoyable, especially its conclusion.

Interestingly the story wasn't horrible, but the characters did really stupid things throughout. He's supposed to be a big security guy, but he doesn't look over his own property to investigate what could have happened. Also, he has a feeling things aren't right, but whenever she calls he never answers the phone.

And don't get me started on all the stupid things she did, but then she's the one to figure everything out. Just wrong.

The idea of the story was good, but execution was awful. I found myself shaking my head every few minutes. UGH!

An amazing book encasing kaleidoscopic emotions like love hatred anger and much more. Landon and Kenna they were so great together whether they're trying to tear each other off or all over each other. They are connected by a sweet love that turned into anger when Landon hits a painful point in his life. With everything he believed proved false, he turns into a different man shutting everyone out but Kenna still believes in the good in him. How her love brings the sweet guy she once knew back to him? Will Landon prove her love, her belief, the only girl who made him feel special wrong? Find out in this exciting, thrilling and suspense filled read. Loved loved loved the book!!

Kenna doesn't back down from Landon the girl gives sass right back to him:
“What?” He whirls on me, eyes blazing. “Eff. Why wasn’t that the first thing you told me?”
“Well you sure didn’t seem that interested in having a conversation,” I shoot back.
Kenna sometimes has to put her foot down on some things, "...she’s clutching a blanket for decency. “Pants, Mister,” she says firmly. “I want my pants before we talk about this.” I liked this book, I loved Landon.

I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. This is my very first book by this author. I have to say I was impressed. I wasn't expecting to be so in tune with Landon but I was. His character is alot of things, brooding, demanding, handsome, drop dead sexy as sin I couid go on lol. He can also be an @ss at times to. But he's straight forward about most things. He's also dealing with a lot. At first I didn't see him and Kenna working they are truly different, but you what they say opposites attract and they most definitely do. I can't wait to read more from Nicole Snow.

UNFORGETTABLE - DANGER - ACTION - BLAZING HOT ROMANCE

STILL NOT OVER YOU lures you in and holds you captive until the conclusion. I wanted to jump into this story; relished it. Inside; spellbinding action, gripping suspense, life-threatening moments, filled with sadness moments, humor, drama, true friendship, mystery, fiery passionate romance and a happily ever after that is most deserved.

Landon's blue eyes and his come-hither magnetism dazzle you but he is plagued by his past giving him a hard-shelled persona. He always runs from what he truly wants and needs. Kenna is a hazel-eyed lion-hearted beauty and luckless. Landon is Kenna's brother's best friend and was also a good friend to her until she made the fatal error of peeking at his private book; her world shattered in a heartbeat. Now Landon owns his own security company. He travels often and is in need of a house and cat sitter. Kenna is a romance author who is desperate for a new atmosphere to write. Her brother suggests she house sit for Landon. Their first meet after five years is explosive and their enthralling story starts with a whole lot of twists and bends.

UNFORGETTABLE PHENOMENAL fast-paced well-written read. The fusion of reality and fantasy is superb. My heart pounded, got a bit teary-eyed, and cheered too. The characters are praise-worthy and spring to life with fabulous dialogue and potent vivid scene descriptions. Kenna and Landon are a perfect match and their chemistry beams like a beacon; adored them together. I love when I can believe in the characters and feel their emotions. Finding this to be a most gratifying read {of my own volition without any stipulations, I reviewed this story through Booksprout.} Without reservations, I highly recommend this read.

Oh my goodness. Can Nicole Snow get any better? I don't know how it's possible but the answer has to be YES!!! With every book she puts out she gets better and better. I have stuck with this author from the very beginning, from her first series, Outlaw Love. I have watched her grow as an author.

Landon and Kenna aka Reb are very relatable characters. Even when Landon was being the biggest dick on the planet she never once fell out of love with him. Even when they were apart for years she still loved him. Oh,she had her doubts. When he finally does pull his head out of his ass, he realizes that he as always loved her too.

The thing I like most about Nicole Snow is that she does her own thing. She doesn't conform to the usual tropes. Her books are 100% her.
She always keeps you guessing until the last minute.

This is a friends to enemies to lovers book

The 2-star "It was okay" rating fits perfectly here! Read on Kindle Unlimited. I didn't find the characters to be particularly gripping and, quite frankly, Steve was the only bright light in this whole story.

I think the author is talented. She knows her way around words, and I will probably read more from her in the future. But this particular story didn't really grab me in any way.

It actually pained me to finish reading this one. It started off really great! I love a good love/hate story. This one just wasn't it for me. For one, I was expecting some juicy secret that she read in his diary. Him wanting to kill the guy that killed his father?? That's not juicy. Wouldn't almost anyone write the same thing??? I was so intrigued in the beginning because I love a good slow burning romance... I think I lost interest after the sex in her brother's backyard part. In what world is that romantic or realistic? I understand getting caught up in the moment but this moment was not realistic to me at all. HER BROTHER'S BACKYARD. And they slept out there? As if. Also, the whole ending just seemed ridiculous to me. *GASP* Milah has been poisoned!! What is this, a day time soap opera?? Her waking up with an engagement ring at the end was the icing on this cardboard cake. I'm glad some readers seemed to enjoy this one. I decided to read it on whim because everyone was raving about it. Guess I have only myself to blame. Long story short, you might be better off skipping this one. :/

Of Yes, Fire Investigator Kenna!

Not! One wonders why Kenna and Landon have this love/hate relationship to which I found quite overly ridiculous.
Toward the end, as the mystery troublemaker comes together, firemen, Kenna, Landon have all been at the scene of the fire. Of course, Sometime later, it's Jenna who finds evidence! That's too was ridiculous! Then we have a security owner post war vet with an alarm system around his house yet no motion lighting.
This am added up to.....you guessed it! Ridiculous!!!
The end was over the top in sex which ruined it even more so. LESS IS MORE! I'm surprised we didn't hear all about his length and girth!!!! Maybe next book......(eyes rolling)

The switch was abrupt

Overall this was a good story. I liked the way she used a military background without going into enough detail to make blatant errors. The background provided a reason for the build and training and even some of the reason behind the profession choice, but it didn't add ridiculous details that couldn't be true like most romances that drag the military into the story do. Snow didn't have him stationed at his house or laid off or any of the other ridiculous blatant mistakes found when the military is brought into romance without doing research.

Some of the history didn't really mesh for me because one they all seem kind of young for so much history and two it was confusing with her saying she practically grew up at his house and him sharing memories of meeting her the first time his senior year of high school. And her hiding behind Steve in school even when he graduated before her sophomore year. There's a bunch of little things like that which make the background these characters share so convoluted to the point it doesn't always completely make sense.

While the major plot points were interesting I also felt like the story was in a rush to get to those highlights and didn't play up what was created properly. Also again some parts didn't make sense. Like how did Dallas get his security code and how did Milah even get into the house? And back to the rush, like Reb had been there only a few hours before the house fire. It's one thing after another with no slowing down to process. And the whole Milah situation where she's just so abruptly there but there's no build to it. They have a fake relationship for maybe an hour. It's a little bit like whiplash. Their feelings are a lot like whiplash too. Like when Steve sents her to his house and refuses then packs and leaves in the morning. They hate each other then bam they're in love. There's no processing. It's all a bit erratic and rushed. Real people don't whiplash emotions and behaviors like that unless they're bipolar.

The wedding night scene seemed more like filler than necessary. And finally using characters named Micah and Milah in the same book had me rereading a few times and sometimes getting confused.

Overall it's a good story, but I felt like it would have been better served with a slower pacing and taking the times for characters to actually process events and emotions. It also could have benefited from an organizational timeline on the back story so that their history would have fit in a more logical and less convoluted manner.

This is quite an exceptional, well-written, intriguing book that just draws the reader in from start to finish. In addition, the emotional pull to the story is quite extraordinary. This is certainly a book I would have no hesitation in recommending.

McKenna has had a crush on Landon since childhood, hoping that when she turned 18, he might take an interest in her. That dream is dashed the day Landon’s father, Micah, dies, but McKenna is patient; she knows Landon is worth waiting for. When McKenna reads Landon’s journal, it changes everything between them and Landon chases McKenna away; she has seen him for what he really is and he cannot stand disappointing her. From an early age Landon and Dallas have always been rivals. When Micah is killed, Landon turns over Crown Security to Dallas, focusing on his own thriving company Enguard. Landon has been looking for his father’s killer for so long, not realising all along Dallas has been making sure he doesn’t get too close to the truth, and for good reason. McKenna cannot believe she is considering staying at Landon’s beach house. The opportunity is too good to ignore and she owes Landon an apology at the very least. As an author, all McKenna has to do is write the perfect book to get back on track again and Landon becomes her muse in all the best and worst ways. Working with Milah Holly is a good opportunity for Enguard; she is the next big starlet and very high profile, even if she has set her sights on Landon. Fortunately, McKenna steps in as Landon’s fake girlfriend and this time he has no intention of letting her go. McKenna will not be yet another person who lets Landon down, when so many have before, especially when he feels like he is letting himself down too. Landon wonders if Dallas might have ulterior motives for maneuvering his way into perimeter security for this contract with Milah, but how far will he go to eliminate the competition. Then again has five years of anger, confused hatred, loss, grief and vengeful fury all been for nothing all along. But what will Landon do when he finds his father’s killer and that man’s fate is at last in his hands; and will the outcome ultimately determine his future? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

3.5 stars McKenna (Kenna) (Reb) Burke has loved Landon Strauss for most of her life. He was always her protector until one day she betrayed his trust and their friendship was over. Fast-forward and we find Kenna a popular author and Landon owning his own protection agency. Needing someone to watch his beach house while he is out of town Kenna’s brother Steve (who is also Landon’s best friend) volunteers her for the job.

Coming face to face with Landon again has Kenna in fits. This might just be the jolt she needs to get her creative juices flowing again. How much could she possibly see him while she is house sitting? Landon can’t handle seeing Reb (Kenna’s nickname short for Rebel) right now, not when he is hanging on to everything by the skin of his teeth. He tries to push her away then realizes she is everything he has looked for. Can they overcome someone sabotaging his business and their lives? Or will old lethal promises be too much for them to handle, together.

Still Not Over You by Nicole Snow receives a 3.5 from this reader. The book at times felt rushed in story, seemed jumbled and rambling. It lost my attention multiple times throughout the story. While I felt like this story had great bones, the execution of story just didn’t do it for me. The conversations felt lacking in some places and the complete rapid change of Landon’s personality really didn’t make sense to me. I wished we could have gone deeper into his dark side to really get at why. As far as the who/why/when, it was pretty easy to figure out where the storyline was heading. Although left wanting more from this novel, I will continue to read more from Ms. Snow. I voluntarily downloaded an advance copy of this novel from Booksprout. All opinions expressed are my own and without expectation from any other entity.

Beastly Beauty?

I enjoyed this book but something the heroine said about Roids really stuck with me and colored the rest of the book. The hero seriously did seem to have irrational anger issues to the point of being Roided out. That’s not an attractive trait. I thought that the author seemed to want to create an alpha male but thought that meant he’d have to be angry and destructive all the time. Yes, we get it, he has this planned vendetta, heroine knows about it and he’d rather she didn’t, it pisses him off. Okkkkaaaayyy but really hero’s constant anger and moodiness didn’t seem justified and his about face at the end was a little hard to stomach.

I liked the heroine but I always raise an eyebrow at a romance novel heroine being .. wait for it... a romance novel author. Really? Ok I can get past that but her love and attachment to the hero based on (apparently) a single youthful conversation also seems far fetched. This is why I usually prefer prologues (or parts 1 and 2) instead of a few flash backs. They didn’t have then emotional impact that a longer prologue or part 1 might have had in developing her feelings for the hero.

Nevertheless I enjoyed the book and read it pretty quickly. The sex scenes were HOT! And while we didn’t get a lot of feels from the hero until the very end, I thought his backstory and attempted to discover his father’s killer was compelling even if it all seemed too conveniently timed and brought to a head.

I will definitely try more from this author as it was a light fun read!

4.5 Stars

McKenna needs a new start and her brother Steve gives her an out. She will watch over the house of one of their long-time friends, Landon Strauss. Things start to get out of control right from the beginning when someone sets fire to Landon’s beach front guest house. He is injured trying to break down the door thinking Kenna is inside and this is before the two of them “discover” each other in a romantic sense. Landon is working a job for a popular pop singer and Kenna fibs to the singer saying she is Landon’s girlfriend. But there is more than the singer standing in the way of this relationship. Landon’s own past has come back to haunt him putting a security agency he no longer trusts in charge of part of the pop singer’s security.

I thought this book was really good. I started this series on book three since that cover attracted me the most. Sometimes I think the covers of these books detract from the story. But once you get to reading, it is the story that keeps you invested.

Be aware that the POV jumps back and forth from chapter to chapter but it is clearly marked in the title of each.

This is a definite guilty pleasure book. I am in awe of how long Snow can keep a sexy scene going when if I had been writing it, I would have been out of steam and words pages earlier. The characterization is out of this world and you really start caring for the people walking around in Snow’s Enguard universe.

This is a great four book series. And I wish there were more books to enjoy.

Highly recommended.
