drakon unchained n.j. walters

Drakon Unchained is book 5 in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters. I’ve loved this series from the beginning and have been so excited about this new one. It most definitely did not disappoint.

When Victoria Marshall was a child living a lonely life in an orphanage, she made an unlikely friend while playing alone in the woods, a real life dragon. They met every afternoon until he stopped showing up. She just knew something had happened to him. Now, twenty years later, she is still looking for that friend who brightened her childhood days. Two years ago she got hired as the personal assistant to Herman Temple who was part of the organization, Knights of the Dragon. The Knights existed for the soul purpose of capturing and imprisoning Drakons so that they can drink their blood. The blood of a Drakon will cure all illnesses and can keep a human young forever.

chained up dragon

Drakons have existed on earth for thousands of years. A Drakon is the child of a full blooded dragon and a human woman. They can shift easily back and forth between their human and dragon forms.

Two years ago Luther Henderson took over as head of security for Herman Temple. Since the first time he laid eyes on the prim assistant to Temple, he felt a weird pull to her. But he needed to stay completely focused on his job. There wasn’t any room for a woman in his life. Luther has secrets of his own and reasons for needing to stay in this job. The pull was getting too hard to resist, though. Could he trust Victoria? All it took was one kiss and he knew, he knew that Victoria Marshall was his.

“Deep within him, in the place he kept secret from everyone, something dangerous stirred. Victoria was his now. His to protect. His to care for. And he’d kill anyone who threatened her.”

fire breathing dragon gif

As Victoria and Luther are forced to travel with Temple to another location, they find themselves in more danger than they realized possible. At the same time, their feelings for each other intensify creating an unbreakable bond.

“He’d finally found someone who filled the empty places in his soul, who shed light in the dark places.”

“Victoria didn’t just fill his heart. She was his heart.”

This is a non-stop, action filled addition to this series. At the same time, the romance developing between Luther and Victoria is sweet and hot! We get a little bit of two of the brothers we met in the previous books, Nic and Tarrant. As I said before, I have loved this series from the beginning. I am waiting for someone to take down the head of the whole Knights organization, Karina! I wonder who will be the one to do it?

sexy times

Yes, you can definitely read this as a stand alone. There is plenty of information given to make it easy to gain the details you need to fill in the gaps. But, I do urge you to check out the previous books in the series. If you love dragon shifter books, this series is sure to make you happy!!

Drakon Unchained is book five in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters.

I’ve loved this series from the begging and have been excited for more. I was not disappointed.

It’s non-stop action, suspense, twists, and romance from begging to end.

Victoria Marshall made an unlike friend when she was a child. I liked Victoria. She’s got a unique ability and well it didn’t make it easy for her as a child and now as an adult she is still alone, but has a goal. She is protective of her friend and very determined to find and help him after all these years. I don’t want to say to much, because part of the adventure is discovering the surprises along the way.

Luther Henderson has been a staple in the series working for Herman Temple. Temple is one of the bad guys out to capture a drakon. The author really surprised me with who Luther is. I didn’t see that twist coming in the book or series. Luther is a great guy and I loved him.

Luther and Victoria were great together. I loved their blooming romance and seeing them confide and work together to help same a drakon.

The story was so full of surprises, suspense, and action that I couldn’t stop reading. I was sucked in from begging to end. I will say you can read this as a stand alone. The author gives us plenty of information to make it easy to grasp the world and details, but I urge you to check out other previous books. Dragon shifter lovers will enjoy the Blood of the Drakon series.

I started this series as ARCs but now I'm hooked on Drakons and jumped on the chance to read the latest installment. Although it can be read as a standalone, I think it would be more enjoyable if you read (at least) the one book before this one. Just to get familiar with the story and the recurring characters.

I loved finding out about more Drakons and watching the brothers grew stronger with each new ally they recruit in their fight against the Knights of the Dragon. Sergie, his mate Katherine and Luther made for an interesting dynamic. And Victoria was another strong heroine. She matched Luther in courage and loyalty. Luther was the sweetest drakon by far. The way he was with Victoria made him the most romantic of the drakons (besides his happily mated father, Sergie) This was a good read but this one felt too easy in someways. The romance was very instant, not a lot of conflict and made this read feel a bit too quick. There was a new villian introduced that I feel will bring Karina (the leader of the Knights of the Dragon) back into the spot light. I'm interested to see where this series will go next and if a real Dragon will ever make an appearance? And not to forget about Oscar and the Dragon Guard!

Love this series about Dragon-Human or Drakon trying to keep themselves hidden. On a mission to find her childhood dragon friend Victoria takes a job with the Knights of the Dragon to try to find him. Also employed there Drakon Luther is undercover in hopes to find his parents. Great characters and story. Reading all in this series will be satisfying but Unchained can be read as a stand alone. 4 - "You need to come with a warning label." Stars!

The fifth book in N. J. Walters Blood of the Drakon series, gives us Herman Temple’s assistant; Victoria Marshall’s story. And as is generally with the case with the characters in this series, there is definitely more than meets the eye when it comes to the Ice Queen.

She’d gone from personal assistant to a businessman who just happened to be a ranking member of a secret society, to being on the run… She had no home that was safe, no money she could access, and nowhere to go.

Working as the personal assistant to one of the higher ranking members of the Knights of the Dragon has always come with its risks, but Victoria has always played her cards very close to her chest in relation to the depth of her knowledge on the subject, and it is assumed that no one ever really knows the full story of anything within the organisation.

He’d slipped under the layer of ice she kept between her and the world and there seemed to be no way to put him back on the other side… she was no longer sure she really wanted to.

Herman Temple; man of a certain age underestimates her intelligence mainly because of the attractive façade it is covered with. Head of security; Luther Henderson, isn’t of the same opinion, difference being he knows Victoria knows far more than she’s letting on about, and his interest in her and what she knows actually aligns more with the mission he is on than he originally assumed.

Protecting Victoria Marshall suddenly felt like his number one priority… The most important thing in his world…

But living a double life comes with high risks as well as rewards, and both of them soon find themselves stuck in a game where the risks may well cost them their lives before the rewards are even closed to being reaped. But as they both reveal more of themselves and what they are really doing to each other the more they realize they are actually after the same thing.

"If I tell you my secrets, you have to share yours with me…"

As much as I enjoyed this book I will admit that I found the first half of it a bit of a slog. It seemed to take a while to actually get going, but once it did it was full steam ahead. It was good to see the inclusion of the previous characters as well, and I like that the main story arc moved along as well with more retribution being played out in regards to the Knights of the Dragon, they are however still going strong at the end of this story, so I am interested to see the direction the author takes next in the regards.

"I have to believe we’ll win. After all these years, we’re so close to freedom."

Hopefully there will not too long to wait for another instalment, as I have to admit I have a huge soft spot for the Drakon men that N. J. Walters gives voice too.

"We’re stronger together."

Victoria met a Drakon when she was a child and has visions but no one believed her. She's been looking for him her entire life because she has visions when she dreams and knows that he's being held captive somewhere. She took a job with some scary people because she knows that they can lead her to Sergei so she can help him escape somehow.

Luther has his own reasons for working for Temple, he's also looking for Sergei but for personal reasons and doesn't know what to think of Victoria other than to know that he's very much attracted to her but he just doesn't have time for a relationship at this time.

Watching these two characters get to know one another, get closer and trust each other with their secrets was so much fun.

Temple needs to find someone with a Drakon because the one that he had got loose and now he's aging again. So he reaches out to another guy that he knows has been keeping a Drakon captive for a long time and they meet for a meeting. Both Victoria and Luther have to trust each other if they are going to free Sergei but Luther is keeping a few secrets that could make things interesting.

Drakon's are the offspring of dragons and humans. Dragons came to Earth around four thousand years ago and had offspring with human women. The offspring are called Drakon's. They can shift into dragons, fly, are stronger than humans, live a very long time and if a human ingests their blood, they live longer and it cures any ailments they have. So there are bad humans that capture and hold captive these Drakon's so they can use them for their blood.

I've been really enjoying this series so far and plan on reading more as they are released. And I loved that some of the other Drakon's from previous books make an appearance in this one. It's always nice to catch up with familiar characters. This book is filled with suspense, action, romance and dragons (drakon's). It was great.

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am a huge fan of dragon shifters and this fantastic Blood of the Drakon series is one of my favorites!

In Drakon Unchained, we get an inside view of the inner-workings of the Knights of the Dragon through Victoria and Luther's roles and neither are what they are perceived. And they’re something more to each other than either of them realizes.

I loved the developing romance between Victoria and Luther. Loved that they just couldn't stay away from the other--that there was this draw that had to be answered and acknowledged. And when they finally got together, wowza, the sparks were a flying!

Drakon Unchained is a delicious balance between romance and romantic suspense. I loved watching the romance unfold as they fought for what was right against so many who were in their way to their happily ever after.

I’m hoping for more in this excellent series. There are so many possibilities with these Drakons and their loves! ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

Drakon Unchained by N.J. Walters is book Five in the Blood of the Drakon Series. This is the story of Victoria Marshall and Luther Henderson. I have read (and Loved!) the previous books, but feel this can be a standalone book if you wish to do so. Victoria grew up a orphan with no real friends but she happened to meet a Drakon when she was young who cam an visited her...which became her only true friend. So when she became older and found that he had gone missing she went undercover at the
Knights of the Dragon to try and find him. This lead her to meeting Luther who unknown to Victoria is doing the same thing but on a different level...it is his father and mother that are missing. Both leery of the other but still very attracted to each other slowly start to build trust and learn of their main goal.
I have been such a fan of this series that I grabbed this book as soon as I saw it....loved it!

Drakon Unchained continues the saga of the Drakon, a half dragon half human creature that is being hunted by a secret society.

All the heroines in this series have some sort of supernatural talent. Victoria can 'dream walk' and see people's past and present. She met a Drakon when she was a child and she knows now that he is being kept against his will. She takes a job as the assistant to the head of the secret society seeking these Drakons. In her position she meets the head of security, Luther. He isn't there because he believes in the mission of the secret society either. However, they don't realize they can trust each other.

I liked that the drakon wasn't the hero of this story. You are introduced to this captive drakon and his mate in the first chapter of the book. That was a different take from the previous books and I enjoyed that. The plot does have action and suspense, but I felt it took too long to get there. Victoria and Luther are both fascinating characters who have their own unique reasons for seeking a specific Drakon. This book does seem to, in many ways, start a new chapter for the drakons. Normally, starting in the middle of a series is ill advised, but it kind of works in this case. You can pick up this book without having read the previous books and not feel that something is missing. I think the world that Walters has created is interesting and unique, which creates a positive reading experience for fans of PNR looking for something fresh. I'm looking forward to seeing where Walters takes this series; I was afraid it was over after book 4 (since that was kind of the end of the 4 brothers' stories) so I am glad to see she is continuing!

I loved the first book in this series (Drakon's Promise) and I was delighted to find that Drakon Unchained was nearly as good. The two main characters were really well written and their story arc was well thought out and well written. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

This is book 5. I was so happy to see the series move beyond just the four brothers. That said, it took me a hot minute to sort this one out. Maybe because it has been a few months since the last book? I'm not sure, but by about the 5th chapter, I was in to it. You definitely need to read the series in order. This book brings characters back that we have seen before.

Victoria is one of the gifted women. She has premonitions and/or dreams that give her insight into people. She has also met a Drakon in the past. Her journey to help this Drakon, Sergei, leads her to the bad guys where she meets Luther. She wants to keep to herself and try to get information on where Sergei might be. But oh my! The s3xual tension between Victoria and Luther is HOT! When they start dream walking---gah! So good!

There is underlying tension throughout the book because of the Knights but things come to a head near the end. Great to catch up on the brothers as they help Victoria and Sergei out. I hope there is more to come. I'd really like to see how Drakon's are able to reproduce. That is a mystery, right?

Great story once again!

Victoria and Luther are both living a lie, on a mission to save a dragon and if they don’t share their secrets with each other they won’t survive.

This scintillating story draws readers in with strong, fascinating characters that are easily understood and readers can’t help but feel the intensity of their emotional turmoil as they struggle to keep their cool amongst enemies while fighting their sizzling attraction. The chemistry between Victoria and Luther is full of electricity that heats up the pages and keeps readers glued to their story.

The plot is fast paced and flows smoothly throughout the book while keeping readers on the edge of their seat with lots of exciting adrenaline pumping events. Readers can practically feel the tension that the hero and heroine put off as they navigate their situation, try to determine who they can trust and outwit the really malicious bad guys. The attraction between these two of course adds to that tension with their secrets making things even more intense and intriguing while surprising twists and turns keeps everyone on their toes.

This fascinating world has some distinctive elements that add to the mystique and wonder of the Drakons and their enemies, so readers get a unique and entertaining read with each story and Drakon Unchained adds a titillating twist to the world and introduces new Drakon into the world while holding readers captive from the very beginning.

This is book 5 in an exciting series by N.J. Walters about Drakon's, half man, half dragon shifters. I loved this series from the first book and this newest one did not disappoint. Victoria and Luther's story was well written and fun to read. I love seeing the other Drakon's pop into the story and keep you updated on what's happening with them and their mates.

The Knights of the Dragon are closing in and Victoria is desperate to save her childhood friend. Luther should be the enemy but she feels something for him that she knows she shouldn't. The tension is high and so are the stakes in this life and death race. Read this series you will be sucked in and totally entertained.

If anyone out there is listening, I would like to put in a request for my own drakon. Please and thank you.

These drakon males know how to treat a lady, let's just start there! Strong, honest, protective, and kind, they are the alpha males we all say we want but have a hard time finding. In this series, N.J. Walters has created a world of magic and crime, and the way it blends in with modern day is seamless. In a time when we are constantly talking about pharmaceutical companies going crazy with drug pricing and corporate giants putting profit over people, this book speaks to that in a way no other does. What if there was a medicine out there that could not only cure you of any illness and heal any wound, but it also could both stop and reverse the process of aging? Can you imagine the chaos caused, the amount of money paid, and what lengths a person would go to get it? In this case, the medicine is drakon blood, and the cost is both drakon and human lives. People will kill to get it, drakons will die to keep it, and the human mates of those drakons will be used to keep the captive drakons in line.

Victoria Marshall knows the cost of dragon blood all too well. Cursed with the ability to see visions of the past and present she has no control over, she has tried to use her visions to locate a long-lost friend. Having met a dragon when she was a young girl, followed by his subsequent disappearance, she has been trying to find him for years. Now, two years after working for one of the leaders of the Knights of the Dragon, she know she is close. But now she gets the feeling that she is being watched, particularly after several unnerving encounters with the new Head of Security, Luther Henderson. Luther has felt a powerful attraction to Victoria from the first moment he met her. But he can't let her distract him his mission to find his missing parents. No matter how alluring she is, for all he knows, she could be the enemy. Dancing around each other as events play out, Victoria and Luther must decide if they are allies or enemies in the war around them.

While I predicted where the story was going to go fairly early on, it did not take away from my enjoyment one bit! In fact, as everything fell into place and I realized I had guessed correctly about who Luther really was, I became even more excited to find out what happened next. Victoria was a cold person on the outside, trying to keep herself safe by showing no emotions to others, but inside she was in emotional turmoil. Orphaned and growing up alone, she was tired of watching the world go by, but she also knew that she had to find her friend before it was too late. She put others before herself, even if it meant she got hurt, and that endeared me to her within the first few chapters. Luther was a mystery at first, as he seemed to play the role within the organization well, but he also had way too much of a conscience for the Knights. I think they knew it too, but since he was so capable, it was looked over. I loved seeing how protective he was of Victoria, even when he didn't know her story, and once he realized she was a good person, he could let loose of his mask as well. Their love was a slow burn, but once it was allowed to fully ignite, it was so powerful to read about!

Even if you haven't read other books in this series, I would definitely encourage you to jump right in with this one! It's almost a standalone in how it's written, and it will certainly ensure you read the other books immediately thereafter.

3 1/2 *'s While book 5 of the Blood of the Drakon series, Drakon Unchained as a stand-a-lone or entry point to the series. While the first 4 books centered around drakon brothers, this book introduces new drakon to the mix and provides any needed background to the series/world without bogging down too much info. Fans of the original set need not fear though as some of the prior characters do make appearances in supporting roles in this book too.

Our heroine, Victoria, occasionally shows bits of naivete or foolishness, but never strays to TSTL area, but rather brings a relatable human element to what is otherwise a brave, loyal and determined individual. She also has some psychic abilities which I found to be quite interesting and well balanced within the story. Meanwhile our hero, Luther, while also loyal and determined is also sexy and dangerous. He’s also smart enough to not let his alpha tendencies turn him into an idiot as their relationship and events unfold.

At the start of the book the two have been in regular interaction (and developing attraction) as he’s worked his way up to take over as the head of security for the powerful man she’s been working as administrative assistant for the past 2 years. However, both have their secrets and hidden agendas that could easily get either of them killed should their boss or others find out. Thus it’s easy to understand why trust is well off the table and attraction to each other something neither is particularly happy about.

The story nicely balanced the two circling around and finding common ground while weighing the risks of trusting, not just to their hearts but lives, as well as the action of staying ahead (and alive) in the mist of an evil organization that will do anything to protect their secrecy and their goal of enslaving drakon for their own power and greed. The pacing was well done to keep the story moving along (both regarding the romance and the plots regarding the Knights and drakon battle and included a couple nice twists. An enjoyable story from start to finish. Now for what’s next.

"Drakon Unchained" is the fifth book in the Blood of the Drakon series and follows Victoria and Luther, who are both hiding. Victoria has a "gift" where she travels during her dreams to see things in the past, present, or future. As an orphan, this gift was more of a curse, as it creeped her caregivers out and led to some bad/lonely scenarios for her. The only person she felt who cared for her was a drakon who came to her in the woods, Sergio. Sergio used to talk with her and make her feel human, telling her about his life and what he was.

One day, Sergio stopped coming, and Victoria knew something happened to him. As her dreams would show her, he had been captured by one of the Knights of the Dragon, held hostage with his mate, Katherine. When Victoria gets an offer to work for one of the Knights, she takes the job only so she can find her childhood friend and help to set him free.

Luther is working for one of the Knights as head of security, but he is hiding a dangerous secret- one which if found would get him captured and/or killed. However, he is searching for his parents who were taken by the Knights a long while ago. He meets Victoria through this employment, and the attraction is instant. However, with both of them hiding big secrets, nothing is straightforward about their romance.

While the first half of the book was rather slow, the second half really makes up for it, moving quickly through events and action/adventure (only a couple small intimate scenes between main characters- overall a very clean book). While this is the fifth book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone, as everything is well explained throughout. I liked both the main characters and was really cheering for them throughout. I wish there was a little more romance, but overall, it was still a solid fantasy with a hint of romance.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Victoria has long had to hide her true self from others. No-one believed her when she said she had a dragon for a friend. They definitely didn't believe her when she said that something bad had happened to him.

She has dedicated her life to searching for her friend and she even took a job working for a slimeball, knowing that he was somehow involved. Knights of the Dragon sound like they'd be a dragons best friend but she knows that whatever they are doing it's not dragon friendly!

Drakons have been hiding in plain sight from their human counterparts for eons. There are merciless humans, the so called Knights, who want to abuse the Drakon for their own ends. Luther has been playing a dangerous long game of espionage. He is searching for his father all the while hiding his drakon self from the odious Herman Temple, whilst acting as his new head of security.

He should not be attracted to the little toads personal assistant but she may just given him an in to the inner sanctum. But when he and Victoria share some rather intimate "dreams" and he claims a kiss from her in real life, well she is his and this Drakon does not want his mate to come to any harm.

As they decide to work together for their own aims, they get sucked further into the black hole that is the Knights. They may even need some rescuing themselves before their story concludes.

Nic and Tarrant make another appearance and lend a hand (talon?) when it's needed. I love Victoria. She has a real sense of right and wrong and even though she takes a job with the bad guys, her mission is to save "her" dragon. Luthor is all kinds of complex and I loved the whole wanting Victoria closer, but pushing her away at the same time. Typical man doesn't know if he's coming or going LOL. The passion could scorch and you will no doubt have a giggle or too as well!

Drakon Unchained is book 5 in the series but it can be read as a stand alone. I am horrified to say this was the first book by N.J. Walters I have read. The writing style flows smoothly and makes for an amazing read.

Was that other life a dream? Is this? Is this a nightmare that will pass in time? – Sergei

Victoria was an orphan. She grew up in a group home setting after no one wanted her and her “gift.” It was there, in the woods that she met her friend, Sergei, a dragon. When Sergei goes missing, Victoria vows to find him. Which leads her to a job as a personal assistant for a man in a group called Knights of the Dragon. These knights capture dragons to use their blood to stay young.

Luther Henderson is head security with a secret of his own. His connection to Victoria is one he can’t fight. They are both on a mission. One neither of them can fail. This is a story of love, friendship, and loyalty.

Deep within him, in the place he kept secrets from everyone, something dangerous stirred. Victoria was his now. His to protect. His to care for and he’d kill anyone who threatened her.

I have to admit I love Victoria. She was a strong, independent, loyal female lead. She never gave up on her friend. And that was enough to keep me reading. Luther is the silent, brooding type. And his protectiveness knows no bounds. I figured out pretty quickly on the way the book would end and all the “hidden” things. But it didn’t take away from the book or the characters. The twists and turns will leave you on the edge of your seat. I throughly enjoyed the unfolding of Victoria and Luther’s love story. The sweetness to it and the hotness. It was the perfect mixture of both.

“You’re perfect.”

She shook her head. “I’m just a woman.”

“MY woman.”

This was amazing. I had never read NJ walters before and will definitely going back to read more in this series. You do not need the previous books to read this one in the series.
Victoria is strong, loyal and stubborn. She went to work for Temple to save a friend she met at a time when most needed in her life. Now she is thrust into the world of the Knights of the Dragon and the Dragon Guard while trying to save herself, fall in love and save a friend while bringing a family back together. A great overall character you fall in love with for her strength and compassion. Her and Luther together was amazeballs.
Luther is strong and on a mission. He is a great guy but has put himself in danger to save his family. He is wondering who he can trust and who is on his side. His nature is one that needs to be kept from others due to the Knights of the Dragon and their greed and selfishness. Luther is determined though and will do what he must to get the resolution he needs and desires. What he didn’ t expect was to find his mate. A feisty strong willed caring woman in Victoria who intrigues him from the moment they meet. Their story intertwines nicely into the one about the Knights and both their missions. I love how they can’t fight the attraction and slowly open up. How they learn to trust and are scared of their feelings but don’ t run from them.
I love how they had others willing to help them like Oscar, Nic and Tarrant. I enjoyed how Ms. Walters slowly revealed the secrets of the Drakon and their woman. How she gave us slow reveals Luther, Oscar, and Victoria.
The story is enthralling and draws you in from the beginning and doesn’ t let you go. Even when it ends you want more and I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Wow – this book series really surprised me by breaking the formula I this latest installment!

This book starts with characters outside the core family of drakons. After reading the previous books that matched up all of the brother drakons with their mates, I was kind of expecting this book to be more of the same. Color me surprised when we begin the story with Victoria Marshall, the assistant to a Knight of the Dragon who is on the hunt for a “replacement” drakon. Victoria’s connection to the drakons is surprising, too. She was friends with one until he was suddenly kidnapped. Victoria is able to know all this because her personal gift gives her glimpses of other peoples’ lives while she sleeps. These visions are what pushes her to take her current job, determined to find her long lost friend and rescue him from the unnamed Knight of the Dragon holding him captive.

Luther is another person with secrets. He has managed to hide by keeping his enemies close but can no longer keep his lineage a secret. He and Victoria end up with a lot more in common than they expect, and find themselves in a battle against attraction at the same time. Throw in drakons, evil madmen, and so many secrets and you’ve got an action packed story. We get the required HEA, but it was a blast getting there. Now I truly can’t imagine who they focus on next – maybe a friend or two? I want more of these books…

Victoria Marshall is living a lie. She works for a member of the Knights of the Dragon, a secret society that traps and uses dragons for their own gain. As a child, she made an unlikely friend—a drakon. He went missing, and she’s spent the past twenty years searching for him. The only thing distracting her from her mission is Luther Henderson, her boss’s new head of security.

Luther is also living a lie. One, if discovered, could lead to a fate worse than death. He’s attracted to Victoria, but can’t fully trust her, doesn’t know if she’s truly innocent or a true member of the Knights. It’s not only his life at stake, but those of the people he loves.

I really liked this book. It is the first book I read from the author and her characters are wonderfully complex and her world-building is superb. The romance between Victoria and Luther was very authentic. I really felt like it was a true relationship and not just two characters colliding. I enjoyed that the author showed both characters with strengths and weakness and that the relationship developed at a good pace without being over-dramatic. .The only down side is that because I started with this book I felt like I didn't get the full effect of the relationships. I plan on fixing that and reading all of the books in the series. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a solid book with strong characters, intrigue, and a strong plot.

I received this as an arc from Netgalley. My opinions are my own.

This was a pretty good story. I liked both of the main characters and the secondary characters that were introduced. The issue I had was with the author’s writing. She kept bringing up certain things that I didn’t think were necessary, as if she thought the reader wouldn’t remember them. It annoyed me so much by the end that I was skimming some of the pages just to finish and dropped my stars from a 4 star book to a 3 star.

So... I got the book from NetGalley.

It is one of those unexpected books and plots that makes you want to read a series.

Luther and Victoria's book is one heck of a good follow up after Nic's story. I mean, i was having a "wow! really?!" moment, as I progress reading. And at the end, you are left, wondering will there be another one?

Drakon Unchained focus on how each a person will go to the distance for someone that matters to them. For Victoria, her reasons was sound, but more was at stake for Luther. I will not go there, but for most people, you will like the out come.

We can given another chance to look in to the life of there creatures, as Ms. Walters weave another tale, I am left wondering if there will be more books to come. But for now, I will savor and dive into another book.

Drakon Unchained is book five of the half-dragon, half-human Drakon Series by N.J. Walters. It is a spectacular addition to a wonderful series. I liked the characters with their secrets, the relationship building along with the world building. The overarching plot really takes a major focus in this book, but the budding romance between Victoria and Luther is never slighted.

The Knights of the Dragon are truly the bad guys, so it was quite a nice twist to see their organization infiltrated. However, this is not done without cost or exactly a combined plan. I liked that not sure who is on whose side suspense. Still I think the needed background is given so a new reader to the series could enjoy the book as much as I did.

4.5 Stars
An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Every now and then I don't pay attention and pick up a book well into a series. It usually doesn't work well for me because I've simply missed too much back story. I'm glad to say, this wasn't the case with Drakon Unchained. N.J. Walters does a great job of working in the history the read needs without recited the previous books, adding too much or not enough detail. I never felt lost or overwhelmed. I did think the other stories would likely be interesting to go back and read.

I didn't know what to think of Luther initially. He's a hulk of a man, brooding and not entirely pleasant. That is until he realizes how attracted he is to Victoria. Through his relationship with her, we see the sweet, attentive side of Luther. Their shared nocturnal, inexplicable connection escalates their attraction quickly even as they struggle to understand.

Victoria has had to deal with too much in her life. Her "gift" has made her an outcast, unwanted by everyone around her whom she makes highly uncomfortable. She doesn't dare tell anyone about the drakon who befriended her as a child. She's taken a highly dangerous job in the hopes of saving the one being who's every showed her kindness. Is Luther a help to or detraction from her goal? Dare she find out?

Walters creates highly imaginative, intense situations the kept my rapt intention as I tried to find out what happens to the characters, both the ones I cared about and the loathsome ones. The roller coaster action just keeps taking the reader for a ride even after the first big hurdle is overcome.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Walters. I recommend it for all fans of paranormal romance especially if they like a lot of intense action.

I received an ARC for an honest review from NetGalley/Publisher for an honest review. This is the fifth book in the series and it follows Luther and Victoria. Luther is a Drakon in search for his parents and Victoria is a human with a special gift both working for a member of an evil secret group called Nights of the Dragon. This book has danger, love, secrecy and hot dragon shifters. This book can be read as a stand alone, but if you want the whole history and to get more antiquated with the other characters, I would recommend reading the first four books.

Great quick read. I didn’t realize at first this was part of a series. Even though I haven’t read any other books from this series, I could easily understand the over arching series story. I liked he main female character and Luther. Always welcome strong characters. That being said the whole Uber alpha man theme could have been toned down more which would have made it a stronger story. I’m really liking the Oscar character and want to see him more. I would recommend this series even based on a single book.

Luther likes to make sure his girl is taken care of, “I crawl back in that bed, and you won’t get any rest.” His voice softened. “Close your eyes, baby.” Luther likes to look after the environment, “I’m going to shower with you. It’s quicker and will conserve water.” I liked this book, I loved Luther and Victoria was a feisty little thing.
